Request for images and data!
« on: February 26, 2014, 03:25:44 PM »
As some of you might know I'm working on a robotics game similar to RA2. However, I want it to be as realistic as possible, and for that I need real data.
The things I am looking for:

  • Images of your controller (inside/outside)
  • Images of your bot (mostly inside)
  • Images of your components, and their specs
  • What material do you use for the bot's 'skeleton'
  • What material do you use for the bot's armor plates
  • How much does that specific material weigh (kg/cm^3)

You don't need to answer all of these questions, but the more info I get, the better.
Images of bot guts are top priority.

Gives me an excuse to tear apart my stuff.
Base plate is 5052 Aluminum.
Outer parts of the bot will be Steel, the dust cover will by plexyglass.
Steel weight: 7.3g/cm^3
Plexiglass weight: 1.19g/cm^3
Aluminum weight: 2.68g/cm^3

My ant, FireArrow, runs most of the same stuff Ribbs' bot has/will have. It runs a 1/16 inch 7075 aluminum shell with a 1/16 inch steel front wedge. However, it uses Silver Sparks instead of Ribbs' Gold Sparks. The only difference is the metal gears in the silver ones as opposed to plastic gears in the gold sparks.

My beetle, Nocturne, according to the ebay seller, runs "1/8 titanium wall armor, bottom plate is formed .060 thick titanium, top weapon assembly and walls are 1/4" magnesium, top cover is ti and carbon fiber."

Nocturne uses Kitbots 1000 RPM motors for drive, and this motor for weapon power.

FireArrow's still being rebuilt and I don't have all the bits for Nocturne yet so I can't post internals of either robot, sorry.

Cardboard armor. I gotta add that :)
Can you tell me how you programmed the controller? Do you configure it through modifying the hardware or by using software on your computer?

The controllers don't need to be programmed, once everything is plugged in it's ready to go as long as it has mixing built in, if not then a v-tail mixer is required.
Edit: some pics of minor tom and components for another feather:

4mm welded steel shell, 12v drill motors for drive, linear actuator powered lifting mechanism.
The other components are an 18v gimson GR02 gearmotor, a bobitz 30a esc, and an 18v 2500mah NiMh battery.

Well you don't need a v-tail mixer, FireArrow did fine without one :P
