ooh, you guys are gonna be happy...
this past monday a new sort of combat robot-ish show aired for the first time. it's called "Weaponizers" and is about guys that take vehicles and add armour, machine guns, rocket launchers, and, i think i saw a verticle bar spinner. they then r/c thier machines and fight to the death. Robot Rage on steriods, me thinks.
it's on the discovery channel.

cool.
-
I saw it. I think it's very cool.
First they have some obstacles to overcome(blow/beat up), then they face off head to head.
Huge weapons...
-
obsticles? just like robot wars!
i only saw the previews. was gonna dvr it but i forgot. i got the 3rd episode next week dvr'ed, though.

Yes, it was full-scaled, roboticly controlled(RC) vehicles that were heavily armed.... and they had to build them too.
I was actually apprehensive of the stray shots of an M-gun they had. I think they were somewhere in the remote SW, US, like Arizona, so I guess it's safe. Maybe Spyguy will ride one of his little minicycles across all of them lined-up.

It is honestly an awesome show. That VS crapped out though before the final match, but one bot did have ramming spikes.
-
awww man i have no discovery channel :(
-
robo: There are torrents :P
Really nice show, I think im going to follow it just like Mythbusters.
-
maybe clickbeetle could replicate some of the creations (just a joke dont freak out)
-
I saw it too. Great concept, but I don't like how obviously staged the whole thing was. The vehicles just sat there and deliberately got hit by the other team's weapons (of course, they threw in some clips of the vehicles driving around too in order to disguise the staged-ness, but it was still quite noticeable). They even re-used a clip of one of the team members going "Aww..." for two totally different events.
Of course, that's not to say the show wasn't entertaining... it was, and I'll keep watching at least for a while, but I do hope they eventually have some real battles on there.

Acctually, there was something like that on a long time ago.
It was called combat cars, staged over here, a bit like that series except they used cars and they had no artilary.
It was cool, but no doubt this new one is good (thanks for telling me about this, i'll ask my tivo, or mum (me and my dads nickname for her, she records stuff for you she thinks you'll like) to record it for me)

as i recall they had a unique game on tlc where they played games in entirely different vehicles and they did things things like bowling and king of the hill
also they did something like weaponizers on junkyard wars

Didn't discovery have some TV show of Submarine robot combat? Like, there were these two bots, one of them rammed the other and punctured it's balast, then shoved it into spikes before the got tangled up. (I only saw the last 5 minuites but it did seem cool... if only I could remember it's name...)
-
i remember holy crap i forgot but i remember, now i have to bang my head on a steel bar

^^wtf?!!!
the remote control .50 cal in the Mad Max episode was pure awesomeness :-D
