Tbh I haven't ever weighed it since I don have a decent enough set if weighing scales, but it's quite heavy, I'd say it's around a kilo

Just thought I'd mention, you could make my type of design with the old technic and it in fact would be better because you can attach armour plates and stuff

A MAJOR EDIT: An idea has just sprung to mind, how about we each do a tutorial, you can do about the old technic and ill do the new one?

Well, the four xl motors are 276g (round to 280), the two recievers come to around 50g, and the battery (assuming the worst) is 275g. The wheels look like 70g (I have a pair) and I'd estimate the body to be 175g at most, giving a total of 850g(!). Heavier than I thought.
Out of curiosity, if you have kitchen scales, get a rough weighing, I'm really curious to see how accurate I am. :P

The armour plates do nothing but look good when they fly off; the add no structural integrity whatsoever.
And sure, I'll make one when my camera has finished charging (when I actually find the charger >.<). As a warning though, sturdy bots are generally easy to make.

I don't actually have YouTube, but I can do a tutorial on GTM with pics, but this sounds like its on its way!

850g eh?  Trust me the chassis is much heavier than it looks but I'll see where I can find and dust off some weighing scales around the house... Tommorow :), that curiosity might have to wait a little longer sorry

Well some armours better than none and it adds realism, if you have some indistructable machine of death fighting it's not gonna be that fun, believe me I've tried it :rage

Also, just been looking at some vids, how do you get pistons? Hurricane's flipper is badass

Looking at the flipper. you could try having springs or the suspension springs. Have the motor set to force the flipper down then signal it to turn off. This would cause a build up of energy released quicker than the electric motors would allow on there own.
I might be some time.

Thats a really good idea, but in reality, it burns out the motors completely and with the Lego coils I have, it doesn't spring much  :(

You can get pneumatics by buying one of the current technic models that use it, or if you don't have £70 you can get them from an american site called Bricklink. They are sold separately, so you'll have to buy valves, pistons, a pump, air tanks, pipes etc. They aren't too powerful, mind you. Pressure (you'll find that in one of my latest videos in which it isn't named) is almost the pinnacle of power really, if it used the largest pistons it would be better however it would only flip twice or so then. Its all about balance.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but quick-release mechanisms are large and difficult to miniaturise, and the motor itself would resist the release of the energy from the springs/rubber bands. It isn't possible at this level, but at larger scale it is; search for LegoMasterFreak or Lego Gladiators on YouTube and look at his flippers. Remember also those are 3x the size and almost 4x the weight if I remember correctly.

I want to see somebody build a Lego shell spinner with those UFO flying saucer pieces.

I made a bungee cord-powered hammer bot once that was smaller than the LRW bots.  I had a loop (driven by a worm gear) that came down and hooked over the hammer, then pulled it up.  When the hammer got pulled up far enough, the loop slid off the hook and the hammer snapped down.  It was slow and unwieldy and self-destructed a lot, but it was pretty cool.

Sounds fun, but sadly, the closest we could get to a shell is a cage, as Lego is as limited as minecraft with regards to the shapes available. I'd try, but I don't have the pieces, nor money to buy them.

Anyway, failed bot:
Was supposed to be an upgrade to stag, but the crusher arm bends and pokes more than stabs. Back to the drawing board.

Still looks cool, could you make the crusher powered by gas and pistons? I think if you could get a good force into that, it could easily destroy some bots

Also, sorry for the lack of updates on the tutorial, I just haven't been able to find the time to update it

Instead of making the crusher one long bit, try adding some supports where it angles. Maybe that'll help it keep from bending.
