Quote from: Clickbeetle on November 28, 2015, 02:44:08 PMThis is great news. There have been a lot of robot combat TV attempts that never went beyond one season. It looks like Battlebots has found a new permanent home.I hope they move the show toward more of a science focus. Like explain how some of the bots work and the physics involved in their weapons. For example, Warrior has a really cool and innovative kinetic energy-powered flipper, but you would never know that from watching the show. You would just think it was springs or something. And I didn't even notice that Overhaul was a shuffler until RFS pointed it out on Battlebots Update! This would also create more interesting filler material and calm down all those fans who complain about it.Quote from: Sonny_Resetti on November 28, 2015, 12:20:36 PMYou can't have a flying unit that weighs more than 10 lbs, so I guess you'd have something like a flamethrower shooting downwardsWhich would be completely ineffective, moreso than a normal horizontal flamethrower. Flames burn upward. You would end up cooking your own bot. One of these projectile weapons that are apparently allowed now would work better. Or maybe a vertical saw blade for the sole purpose of throwing sparks?if the saw catches and rips it will throw the little flyer as opposed to anything it hits. probably the best use would be dropping something akin to road spikes in the shape of lets say 4-pointed playing jacks to up-end or get wedged in the opponent's drive. but why bother?

Think of the following (If your bots shell is some ferrous thing, and it's not a bar spinner)I bring a Quad with a nice sized set of STRONG N Magnets for feet(Resting on the mother bot's Aluminium surface at match start)It drops on your bot and "locks down".. then it turns on a tightly focused flame and commences burning. If it lands on a non-weapon part of your bot, it just might achieve burn-through before it toasts itself
Feel free to add Team Heartless Robotics to the list of applicants (Heart of Darkness/Heart of Glass/Heart of Gold)
The deadlines are unreal; only 7 days left to submit applications, which have to include videos, CAD files, a whole lot more than just a form.
I MIGHT be on the NovaRobots team if they are selected.
