Needs more flippers.
Who do we know is coming back or applying? We know Bite Force, beta, Chomp, Hypershock, Nightmare, Overhaul, Tombstone, Witch Doctor, and Wrecks are all intending to come back.We know that Team Whyachi is as well, with a new Son of Whyachi.Which new teams do we know are applying. I know Mauler has expressed interest, and Team Storm may be working for a sponsor. Anyone else?
Flying bots (“Flybots”) are limited to a maximum of 10.0 pounds each, ready to fight.Exceptions to the Flybot weight limit may be made on a case-by-case basis, depending uponthe construction and configuration of the Flybot. We are concerned about damage to thearena sides and ceiling.
Flames from Flybots must be aimed vertically downward.
f. Prohibited WeaponsThe following weapons are not allowed under any circumstances:• Fouling devices such as glue, nets, fishing line, ball bearings and such.• EMP generators or other means intended to damage or jam the opponent bot’s electronics.• Deliberate smoke generators.• Bright lights, lasers, etc., that are distracting or dangerous to vision.• Weapons that damage the other bot by destroying themselves.
Note: Rule documents may be updated at any time, please check back here often to keep track of updates.
Projectile WeaponsProjectile weapons are allowed, as long as they do not create an arena-fouling problem.Projectile weapons must not use explosives. Springs, catapults and gas-pressure poweredguns may be acceptable. You may be required to show that your projectile weapon will notdamage the Lexan exterior of the arena.
Ooh, in the comments, Morgan Tilford (Mauler) says he's interested in returning. I really hope it happens, last season wa ssorely lacking in FBS power
Not sure if it's a new rule for season 2 but QuoteProjectile WeaponsProjectile weapons are allowed, as long as they do not create an arena-fouling problem.Projectile weapons must not use explosives. You can't have a flying unit that weighs more than 10 lbs, so I guess you'd have something like a flamethrower shooting downwards
This is great news. There have been a lot of robot combat TV attempts that never went beyond one season. It looks like Battlebots has found a new permanent home.I hope they move the show toward more of a science focus. Like explain how some of the bots work and the physics involved in their weapons. For example, Warrior has a really cool and innovative kinetic energy-powered flipper, but you would never know that from watching the show. You would just think it was springs or something. And I didn't even notice that Overhaul was a shuffler until RFS pointed it out on Battlebots Update! This would also create more interesting filler material and calm down all those fans who complain about it.Quote from: Sonny_Resetti on November 28, 2015, 12:20:36 PMYou can't have a flying unit that weighs more than 10 lbs, so I guess you'd have something like a flamethrower shooting downwardsWhich would be completely ineffective, moreso than a normal horizontal flamethrower. Flames burn upward. You would end up cooking your own bot. One of these projectile weapons that are apparently allowed now would work better. Or maybe a vertical saw blade for the sole purpose of throwing sparks?
