Title: Trak Attak
Post by: 8bean on February 22, 2019, 10:04:25 PM
I'll probably be hosting another wacky gimmick tourney like this in the near future
Well here's that tourney. Tracks are hardly ever used in IRL builds due to their immense weight, giant size, and overall less practicality when compared to wheels. So I was wondering how a tournament of only tracked bots would go.

[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]

GENERAL RULES
-DSL IRL HW
-16 Entries
-Double Elimination Bracket
-Starcore Arena

BUILDING RULES
-800kg or less
-Only allowed form of movement is with tracks
-Bots must have a chassis, no pixelchassis
-Multibots are allowed but both must use tracks for drive
-A bot that utilizes servos or a hammer not powered by bursts will be accepted only if it is already AI'd
-DSC's IRL Pack, Component Freedom, kix's locked npcs, and BFE is all allowed.
-I retain the right to reject any bot for any reason
-One bot per person unless the 16 person limit cannot be reached where it will be opened up to two

FIGHT RULES
-3 havok resets allowed per match (will not be present in vid)
-3 min fight
-Judges Decision will be based on Damage Aggression and Control with each category splitting 9 points between the two bots
-If a robot has all of its tracks removed then it will be considered knocked out
-A manual countdown will be initiated if a bot cannot show controlled movement for more than 20 seconds

SIDE EVENT
-DSL-S, Ironforge, and Retooled will each have their own single elimination mini bracket to accommodate the main tourney
-The minimum number of entries for each meta is 4. If this number is not reached in one of the metas then it will not participate. The maximum bots per will be 8.
-Each meta follows their standard ruleset
-Each meta follows their heavyweight weight restriction
-The bots must only use tracks for movement
-I retain the right to reject any bot for any reason
-Entrants can send bots for as many or as few metas as they would like. Only one bot is allowed per meta though
-A bot that utilizes servos or a hammer not powered by bursts will be accepted only if it is already AI'd
-If you are not participating in the main IRL tourney you can still enter a side event
-Fight rules are the same as the ones posted above

ENTRIES

Rejected
Accepted
Accepted and AI'd

Notes:
I decided to enact the chassisbot rule due to several factors
1. the majority of tracked bots I've seen are chassisbots
2. havoks r dum and ruin good fights
3. uhhhh... chassis skins  heck
In order to ensure that a whole bunch of overheads or gutrippers murder the chassis in 3 seconds, I chose the Starcore arena to provide ample flipout zones. This should hopefully balance the field out and provide builders with the choice to try and go for the oota or bite into that juicy chassis for a KO

What do you guys think and would you be down to enter this?

I'm up for it, but let's just hope that all entries don't AGOD in any matches

Jesus I had this idea earlier today, ok I'll take a shot every time a bot uses TMW3R2 locked as their drive.

Wow, votes filled up quickly. If nobody else has got anything then I think this is ready for signups world.

Supported this tourney idea. However, won't be able to join sadly because IRL

I'm kinda tempted to pay tribute to the 3 competitive metas that use tracks in some small side events too. Would you pro gamers be interested in some of that as well or should I leave it as IRL only?

A tracked tourney how I miss this? I think I'm probably only one that uses tracks regularly so have 4 or 5 builds ready for it

Updated the info to accommodate the side events and added entry tabs
Signups when beanman?
I thought it needed to be approved and moved by a tourney mod or admin first. If all the info is good then it should be ready.

also, ive noticed that theres been a lot of 2.1 hype recently. would you boomers be interested if i switched the DSL-S side event to 2.1? (i've already notified the current entrants and they would be allowed to update and/or resend a new bot if it does change versions)

If it happens, then maybe I will have to pull out. I don't have time to download and play 2.1 atm

Seems like entries have slowed down. If the IRL bracket doesn't reach 16 by monday then everyone will be allowed a second bot.

well its monday, that means anyone who has already entered can send in a second. if you're still holding out there's only two spots left in the IRL bracket so now's your last chance to send in a bot.

The OrcCorp's IRL entry is in

Also, I received second entries from Nightraven, Primeval, and Code Red within 5 minutes of each other so there will be a 3 way rumble to determine which gets the last spot.

Now that the IRL entries are closed all other event signups are closed. This means that the only side event that will be participating is the Ironforge one

3 way rumble should be interesting and probably a battle of attrition

Nice, I don't know who will win that melee, but 1 thing is certain

The winner is a tracked robot

A 4 way rumble for final spot now anything can happen, least exposed chassis wins? or luckiest bot?

Unfortunately Moros and Massive Mammoth had issues pertaining to AI and will not be participating. Thankfully I was able to receive an updated version for Massive Mammoth and Primeval agreed to replace Moros with his secondary bot Fallen Angel. Now all of the bots have been AI'd and an SBV will be coming soon.
