Minibots Challenge Discussion
« on: January 05, 2018, 02:59:25 PM »
[No logo yet lol]

General:
So I've been thinking about an IRL beetleweight challenge tournament based off RW Extreme 2.
Now, I know an IRL rule seems a horrible idea for a beetleweight type root but I don't believe it's been done before.
[If not IRL then realistic design maybe??]
What mod do you guys think should it be done in? I was thinking DSL 2.2 maybe best but is there another that would be preferred?

Arena:
I want to make an arena that is similar to the video above, I'll need some help doing this but I'm willing to make sure it happens.

It's only an idea for now so building rules will come later, but what does everyone think about it?

IRL Beetleweights are very possible. Id certainly be interested. What components are allowed. Id recommend flat motors.

I have a half done robot lying around for things like this. It's not a very mini robot when there's a weight class below it.

I'm down.  I love BW's and this looks like it would be fun.

I've never attempted a beetleweight before so I'd be up for making one for a comp

Beetleweight robots in IRL have been done before in tournaments. Just look at Beetle Bashers as an example.

That being said, though, it's an interesting enough format and a good premise. Might make something for this.

Ok worked on a few rules:

-General Rules
DSL2.2 BW
IRL Rules
Weight Limit 0-175kg (Not sure...)
24 entries, one entry per user (Maybe more idk)
Updated bots are allowed, if updated bot is allowed then your previous entry will be accepted
I'll AI if you can't

-Building Rules
IRL Pack components are allowed: https://gametechmods.com/forums/modifications/irl-components-pack-four-discussion/
Multibots allowed, as long as all robots have a total weight of 175kg or below
No cheatbot2
Chassis BFE is the only BFE allowed
Sergepatcher Component Freedom is allowed
Only custom components (apart from links above) allowed are your own reskins. Changing values of components will result in a disqualification.
Robots must have controlled movement

-Battle Rules
2 minute matches
(Not sure on an arena yet)
Minor havoks won't stop a match, big havoks will restart. After 3 big havoks, the robot will be eliminated.
Brackets: There will be 6 matches involving 4 robots, then two matches of three robots with one robot eliminated, and a final match with 4 robots
I'll judge with two other people (PM ME!!!), based on control, damage and aggression (RW Style rules) and maybe points if there isn't a complete decision made

What do y'all think?
