Really Interesting Idea, I would enter this.

The weight limit rule has me questioning. You can easily just set it to LW or something less.

If i just set it to lw tho then there would be basically no point in making the size requirement because its near impossible to make a lw bigger than that square
also if it was lw then every match would just be a contest between whoever has the beefiest weapons on their overhead heck
-
can it be taller than the smartzone
also ban flatmotors tbh otherwise its gonna be the only motor anybody should use even for drive
-
can it be taller than the smartzone
Multiple people have suggested that the smartzone itself is too small for some weapon types. Would stacking 2 smartzones on top of each other provide a large enough space?
Also i received this comment

Yes this is allowed. As long as the bot fits within the smartzone in some way then it will be accepted
-
So dumb question, Does just the chassis itself need to be in the smartzone or does everything including wheels, weapons and wedges need to be in the smartzone?

Everything has to be within the smartzone.
Also sum changes just made
-Fast flatmotors are banned
-the vertical height has increased to two smartzones high
-the smartzone size has changed to medium rather than medium long
-
Final changes
-The arena will be the trauma pit
-I'll leave it at 16 entries and if more want to participate then it'll open up to 32
If anyone has any questions or suggestions now would be the time to post or @ me about them because otherwise this will go into signups

Good Arena Choice

Y'know, this is actually kinda a cool idea, even if at most I might just make a billet HW within the smart zone limit anyway.

You could always just make a custom smartzone to the size you want it to be then, and also remove the additional APS so someone could place it down and then build with it. If you need help doing it me or someone else could help ya out.
also wtf nicky don't steal redaces avatar

Holy sh**. This would help a ton on the builders end and on my end with checking bots.
Also yea i have no idea how to adjust the size of smartzones or change APs so I would definitely need the help of one of you epic gamers out there

Just updated the rules to allow 32 bots
-
Bruh can i make a bot that fits in 2 smart zones next to each other mr. 8 bean man?

bro thats literally bigger than purple nurple
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
aka no
but if you desperately want to make a wideboi you can build it so that it contracts into the smartzone with a piston or something and then extends when the match begins
-
Thanks to the epic gamer power of 09090900909091 there's now a custom smartzone that is already two tall. (download link is above)
And with that i think we're finally ready for signups.

jaydee's entry rejected for batt/motor/burst clipping

Ok so it has been brought to my attention now that there was no limit set on weapons or bursts. In order to prevent all hell from breaking loose I propose a solution:
If bots are efficiently made then given the size of the smartzone, their weight should end up being somewhere around an underweight SHW.
with this in mind I believe the burst limit should be set at 2 betas and 3 for the other types.
As for typhoon teeth, the limit would be set at 4lg 6sm for verts and 6lg 8sm for horizontals.
Other weapon types i would judge on a case to case basis but just dont be ridiculous.
What do you guys think?
-
Am I missing something here?
The tournament is called Micro Machines, why build superheavyweoghts for this
Also isnt an underweight SHW just a heavyweight?
-

its micro machines because of the build size. there is no weight limit so if built compactly the weight can almost reach SHW
Also isnt an underweight SHW just a heavyweight?
no. if your bot its 800.1kg then it is no longer considered a HW its now considered an extremely underweight SHW

Updated the rules to include the burst and weapon rules

I have two questions:
1) Does the weapon have to be fully within the smartzone, or is it allowed to stick out slightly?
2) What and where are the Flat Motors?

I have two questions:
1) Does the weapon have to be fully within the smartzone, or is it allowed to stick out slightly?
2) What and where are the Flat Motors?
1) Yes, nothing can be sticking out of the smartzone. But there is an exception: (i dont really know how to explain this accurately with words so i included some pics)
lets say ive got my robot here that i want to enter into micro machines
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
it originally had a mech disc but it was rejected because no matter how it spun, it was always outside the smartzone
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
however, when i put the bar on it, it was accepted because when its spun 90 degrees it fits inside
[ This attachment cannot be displayed inline in 'Print Page' view ]
2) They are banned in this tournament but ill explain them to you anyways. Flatmotors are super small and powerful weapon motors that are typically used on drums. You can access them via the cheatbot2 menu by naming your robot cheatbot2 and pressing enter. Then scroll all the way over on the motors tab and voila.

Just sayin I think a 32 entry bracket is looking a lil ambitious :dumb)

Yea, the initial reasoning behind 32 was because I didn't want a situation like my last tournament where multiple people all wanted the last slot. The more I look at it though, the less I see this even reaching 16 individual entrants.
I'm going to give it until Saturday. If this can't reach 16 entrants by then I'll change it down to 16 entries max and open it up for people to send seconds.

RedAce's entry accepted

The Skeptic's entry accepted and AI'd
Remember that the end of today is when signups drop down to 16 entrants so now may be your last chance to send bots my way!

Honestly I'd just drop it down to 8/12
