Builds have been thin on the ground lately, I'm doing that ADHD thing where I'm trying to juggle thirty million interests and RA2 just kinda drew the short straw for a while

Anywho, as part of a build challenge/tournament on the PWT server, I was tasked with building a cambered HS with an anime theme. Having recently watched (and loved) Wonder Egg Priority, I built this and came 2nd:

I also built a non-cambered version for more regular tournament play:

And speaking of PWT, here's an upgrade of an old design that I never actually used for anything. I intend to throw it into the next PWT round, and maybe some future rounds as well, depending on how it performs.

Himawari looks nice, but I'm not keen on how the supports are different widths between top and bottom.

24hrs into signups and the number of accepted bots has already equalled the number of bots accepted into War of the Weapons in the entirety of its signups, and I've still got bots I've yet to check!

This month's update a day late bc I'm stupid.

Deeper Blood, the sequel to Deep Blood, took 6 weeks to build bc I usually build in pretty short sittings, huge divergence from the predecessor's design.

Sakura-chan is a CW eggbeater themed around everyone's favourite anime egg.

Why would you want vet status on a forum you don't care about and aren't gonna use again?

Tournament Archives / Sakura Sunrise - in-season

Sakura Sunrise is a DSL IRL tournament featuring five weightclasses and a fight card format w/ a points scoring system similar to what I did in the round robins for War of the Weapons.

Competition format
Five weight classes (LW, MW, CW, HW and SHW)
Episodes will be fight cards consisting of a mix of each weight class
Each bot gets a set number of randomly drawn fights (the number of fights depends on how many bots are entered into its weight class) and points will be scored based on the result of the fight and added to a league table
Points per fight outcome are as follows: 3 for win by KO or DQ, 2 for win by JD, 1 for loss by JD, 0 for loss by KO or DQ
You are allowed to enter a maximum of one bot into each weightclass

Battle rules
3 minute fights
Custom arena: the temple
If a havok ends a fight or alters its course or the game crashes, I will retake the fight
I will retake the fight between 5 and 10 times (depending how long each take lasts before being cut short) before restarting w/ the time rounded to the nearest minute at the time of the havok/crash
I will not be retaking fights if nothing happens (i.e. 3mins of wedgelocking or both bots spinning in circles), in this case I will just speed up the footage
A bot will be deemed KOd if it is sent out of the arena, has its chassis destroyed, is counted out by the game, spikeballs or fails to self-right for 30 seconds (this will be extended if the opponent gets in the way), loses all its wheels (a 10 second count out will start when the last wheel is removed) or takes damage that will cause it to cease to function realistically (i.e. Oreo Hurricane against Black Hazard in HBBQ2 or Lindorm against Intergalactic in hangargames)
If a bot causes too many havoks that end or alter the course of a fight, it will be DQd from the match.

AI rules
Providing your own AI is encouraged, but not required
Eternalflame.py is banned
Rammers are not allowed to use Pinner.py or Omni.py w/ engage tactic
You are welcome to use a custom .py on your bot as long as you send it to me alongside the AI
If you do not AI your own bot, it must be possible to AI w/ a .py included in the base DSL 2.4 download
If I deem your custom .py to be too OP or game breaking, I will reject it

Build rules

Tech checks
The following tech checks will be carried out on all bots entered
Botfiles will be checked and any weapon/motor limits being exceeded or illegal components/BFE will be noted
Run through Silverfish’s bot scanner to confirm any cheating via use of cheatbot2 or BFE
Extenderbots will be put through the bot exporter to confirm if any components the scanner says were BFEd to be chassis mounted are chassis mounted
The bot will be checked in the botlab to make sure nothing clips illegally and everything is adequately supported
The bot’s entire weapon setup will be disassembled to check for stacking
The bot will be driven in the test arena to make sure everything is wired properly
OBJ bots will be tested in battle to make sure they don’t crash the game from taking a single hit (more than 200 faces on the chassis), but if it crashes from a control board hit (more than 86 faces), it will just be deemed KOd if this occurs in the competition

Signups are now open and have a deadline of 24 june.

Are the axebots capable of self-righting? I'm looking for a way to revamp Piercing Stare.
Yes
What's the secret to making that work? I've tried all kinds of crap on Piercing Stare, and he's either a havok bomb or too weak to self-right.
For Ice Pick, the burst arc is set to 2.9 radians, for Circuit Breaker, counterweights on the other end of the arm.

In the awards, only one person voted, which I do not feel is enough to give them out.

This month's update.

Finished the final two configs of Circuit Breaker, an axe and an overhead drill.

I just got warned that this thread has been dead for over 180 days again.

Here is Slump. Can't be bothered to BFE the little gap between the wedge panels, it's there because of the mounting points, pretend it's not. This is my first 2.4 build.

Here's a bot I did back in feb 2020 on 2.2 and never posted here, No Sleep 'Til Bedtime

Slump is abit messy, but good for someone who's not built in so long and the kind of shape you're going for.

Tournament Archives / Re: Annihilation Nation 2 - Tournament Update
« on: April 13, 2021, 05:47:39 AM »
Hey, guys. Unfortunately, I probably won't end up posting the Reserves/Final Rumble anytime soon as I've severely lost the drive to continue onward, so the chances are I'm probably gonna end Annihilation Nation 2 right there. I'm sorry about this announcement, but I've probably left it far too late at this point.

There will potentially be a chance I'll finish up the tournament and do the last couple episodes in time, but its a slim possibility. At least with the main tournament done we do have a champion crowned, so there's that at least.

--doot
That's unfortunate, but at least we got a great main competition.

so, now that War of the Weapons has concluded, its time for award voting.  The awards that you are directly voting for, which are for a single bot/fight, are as follows:
- best fight
- biggest upset
- tournament underdog
- luckiest robot
- unluckiest robot
- best design
and on top of these, there are three awards for builders themselves, which I will give out and you can decide which builders I have to choose from:
- best builder - the person who built the best looking bots in the competition
- surprise package - the person whose bots performed surprisingly well
- prodigal offspring of WotW - a newer builder who could become a top builder w/ more experience
you are allowed to nominate three builders for each of these awards, the three w/ the most nominations will be the ones I pick a winner from
voting starts now and ends next saturday at 8pm BST
To cast your votes/nominations, just dm me on discord @Lilleh__#0625 or pm me on GTM w/ them.
