Is it still open. And can I sign up? I might enter with a humanoid robot

Looking for IF teammate. Haven't built in a while so don't expect too much.
I can team up with you

Discussion / Re: How did you find Ra2?
« on: May 15, 2018, 07:03:01 PM »
I first read about RA2 on Wikipedia. However, I didn't download it until watching videos of it on May 1 caught my attention. I also read the wiki and found GTM, so I immediately joined

Are the signups for Season 2 open even to people who didn't enter s1? I'd definitely throw my hat in the ring if so
I think it is open to everyone, as I got accepted despite not signing for season 1

Hey, no one entered anything.  That's nice.

Perhaps you should start another sign up thread for season 2 to get people interested

Oh boy, it's been a while again...guess I should post some new builds of mine for an upcoming project to do with Orc's Wars! ;)

First up, here's an updated version of a robot which I feel caught a lot of eyes when I uploaded it: Cobra! He's a tad underweight and needs a skin but he's mostly complete! Might add some spikes to the main chassis.

Next up, a new entry based on one of my favourite robots of all time: Aggrobot! This is Orange Beast and he is purely designed as a rambot!

Lastly, here is a bot inspired by Panic Attack: this is Stresshead! I'm really happy with how this one turned out with thanks to Roboteer for his advice!

As always, all feedback/criticism is welcome and appreciated!
That's awesome, and how can you make a such a great extenderbot (especially Orange Beast, given the head is the robot's chassis)

It looks awesome. And is the bar fragile, given the it works like the real thing statement

Was supposed to build this about 2 days before Back to Basics starts, but the slots filled up quicker than I thought so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In other words, don't procrastinate, boys (and Pip).

Mome Rath - DSA, 1 black, & 799.3 kg. Could downgrade to plastic but I'm too lazy to redo the math for the new weapon allocations. Technically I could find a way to use shinies as well as a wider plow setup but snapper loading with the max_sphere cockblocking all my attempts is a pain in the ass.

Also I found a setup here that I could probably use on Dizzy Bees, so I guess that's next.
Awesome. And a similar thing happened to me. I planned to enter with a SnS called Atom Spinner, but I was upgrading it and thought the sign up would end on 15 May, so I ended up missing out too

Edit: sooo... when are you posting vids
Videos will be uploaded to my website soon and priced at £10/$14 per episode.

Is dis a joke?
Nope, but since you're such a keen fan, lemme offer you this exclusive deal! I'll give you every single episode, Heat A to Heat P, Sweet Sixteen, Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, 3rd Place Playoff, Grand Final, Grudge Matches AND Rumbles in a single bundle for only $250! Buying them individually would be $322, so that's a huge saving of $72 and instant access to all the fights before public release! And if that wasn't enough, you'll get yourself reserved spots in Masters Of Disaster 3!
That's expensive. Is that to fund your RL robot construction, as well as some of your daily life, like university and basic necessities. And does that also mean the competition is like Robot Wars?

And on a side note, I have a feeling that Triangle of Doom will just be declared a SFTW, seeing it has no srimech, no invertibility, and other weaknesses

Hey hey hey, welcome to the forums!

Vert has the potential to be a nice bot. I'd suggest giving it some wedgelets as chassis wedges are not great. Also, try replacing the drive for Slimbodies. You dont have to, but try shrinking the chassis. Ant Batteries aren't that great, so I'd suggest replacing those with the long black ones or the car battery. Also, you really need to protect the motor. That can easily get sniped by hammers. What's the armor on it?

As for Flipper Time, the only things I could really suggest is shrinking the chassis. Too much free space. You could also replace the flipper arm with regular flipper segments. But if you really want to use a snowplow, use one with more HP. Maybe even thicken the arm to make it look more realistic. Same question with Vert, what's the armor?
Not on laptop, so cannot fix now. But thanks, I will put that suggestions tomorrow on my robots. And I think the Armour of both robots are 3mm titanium

DSL TC Showcases / Billy's DSL Showcase Build and Try
« on: May 12, 2018, 08:00:51 AM »
Welcome to my showcase. As you know, I'm still a newbie (I have just owned stock since 1 May and downloaded DSL and Ironforge this week, on Wednesday.) At this point, I have built few robots on all three versions together (not sure with stock and DSL, but still few, while one for Ironforge).

Anyway, back to my DSL showcase, this will show what I build on DSL. First up, a vertical spinner that I talked about yesterday on Discord, Vert Shredder. You can find pictures of it externally and internally on the attachments below. It is a heavyweight, with a Perm powering the vertical disc.

The second is a flipper named Flipper Time. It is another heavyweight, this time powered by a beta motor for it's flipper, and using flipping segments and a snow plow to form the flipper. It also has two wheel drive. You can also find the pictures of Flipper Time's external and internals below, on the attachments

That's what I can show for now. Any suggestions to improve both will be appreciated, and I'm aware of it's flaws, like the exposed motor of Vert Shredder, so please tell me how to fix that

No idea how to use the attachment system here we go wheeeeee

Oh, that was easier than expected.

Questionable Ethics - CW - 596.8. Reminiscent of M.O.E, Destructive Criticism and other 4WD HS. NPC fasts and a wedge at the back in case the disc poops out.
Great horizontal spinner. Though it reminds me more of Supernova due to the disc

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: New Member? Introduce Yourself!
« on: May 11, 2018, 08:51:44 AM »
I'm Billy5545. I was introduced to robot combat earlier this year on late January, when I was browsing for a good TV channel and found the season 2 of BattleBots. After that, I started to browse about robot combat, and now, I'm a fan of it. As for RA2, I'm still a newbie, as I downloaded the stock version ten days ago, and DLS and Ironforge a couple of days ago.

What a cool replica of Tombstone. And I downloaded it on the bot exchange. It's very destructive indeed

It sure is.
since I'm a newbie and want to learn about good bot building, do you use some beta motors for the flippers, before positioning the flippers to a proper position?

First episode matchups have been posted!

Biteforce VS Blacksmith
Mecha Rampage VS DUCK! VS Free Shipping
SubZero VS HUGE
Bombshell VS LockJaw
Tombstone VS Minotaur
Is the three way battle part selected because of being Robogames competitors? I know that DUCK! and Free Shipping are Whoops! and Original Sin in Robogames, respectively, but what about Mecha Rampage?

Holy necrobump, Batman.

Some old-ass CADs for Tankslapper 3/Crocodile, which I would have submitted back when Robot Wars said they were running a Featherweight Championship again. Nothing ever came of these but I figured that I should post them anyway. The top pic shows the three different wedge/scoop setups and the three different flail mace designs for the planned Tankslapper 3, however these were putting me way overweight so after a lot of redesigning I ended up with Crocodile. The jaw can be locked open or locked shut, and is mounted on an axle for maximum floppiness. Like I said, nothing ever came of these and the CADs are over a year old now, but you might get a kick out of looking at them.
You want to join Robot Wars? Have you ever tried building a heavyweight? And what are the UK live events like?

779
Anyway, how are the robots put into a group. Are they put based on listing of who entered first, or selected randomly?

Discussion / Re: IMPORTANT: this will save RA2
« on: May 11, 2018, 07:36:41 AM »
I support this. I thought tournaments will be done by Humans, only for me to learn that's it's AI based. It will be more interesting to drive your own robot and fight yourself, rather than watching. Also, as said by others, it will allow more strategy. We can have something like Bigger Brother vs Hypno-Disc, with human players driving a badly battered, but still functional robot drive-wise, in a way that allows them to push opponents to hazards to destroy or eliminate them from there.
