Other Tutorials / Re: Making Invisible Sections in a Disc?
« on: July 24, 2019, 04:08:00 PM »
I'm personally not sure on how to edit discs to have transparent parts, would be worth asking Bild on discord.

Also, if you need an invisible flipper component in the RWRA2 mod they have that exact components for the flippers that need added oomph.

Genuinely the best editing I've seen in an RA2 tournament...ever?

Ngl I like how unique this bot looks, would be nice to see a DSL version and see it compete in a tourney

Something new. I originally made a chassis in TinkerCad that would suit a 4 bar, but instead decided to go for a MAD/Tyrant Evo style flipper instead. Two Wide Mediums for the flipper provides plenty of flip and the 4WD provides plenty of grip. The flipper outwedges opponents decently and I'm really happy with the skin on it. It's a tiny bit on the slow side compared to robots with 4 NPC Fasts but even then this is something I would consider entering into an AI tournament.

On the RWRA2 mod there is an arena called I believe the Northern Tour arena which is a small box with metal railings. If you download that version of the game you can drag the arena and it's folder onto your version.

Alternatively if you type in cheatbot2 you can get three "IRL Bursts". You have options of like full power, half power and low power. Everyone has them in DSL so you wouldn't have to worry about making a new component.

Moving away from extenderbots, made a more unconvential design. With the power of OBJ and unoriginal ideas, I gave The Green Mouse from the Nickelodeon Robot Wars an axe. I hate that I actually like this thing.

Edit: Coz of the amount of triangles on the chassis it crashes whenever it touches an extenderbot, that's a RIP.

Here it is.
Thanks. Also, is it for DSL or stock RA2?

I made it in DSL 2.2 (IRL Standard), so DSL with all the IRL packs is needed

I made one months ago but isn't that great, I will put it on the bot exchange and link it here to see if it's good enough for what you need it for

I haven't built a non-gimmicky extenderbot in a while so I have made my first ever shell spinner. I wanted to avoid using the shell panels for the obvious reason of everyone does that, so made a frame and then filled it in with panels. I was going to make the frame a different colour to the panels but I like how it looks in game when spinning as one solid colour.

I'm also aware that the panels can be cleaner, but as this probably won't be entered in much as it stops spinning on impact everytime, I have decided to leave it how it is.

That's toxic, take it back

Opinions:

Vespin Mk 2: Happy I actually made this into a proper CW instead of downgrading the Heavyweight so hope it does decently
Not Copyright: It's a basic design so don't really have a strong opinion
Franken: Exposed bursts look a bit odd but interesting to see how an axe/saw combo fairs
Oractraz Evo: Tidy design
Top Hat: Stupdily simple but I like it. Plus #tophatgang
Sad Slapper: Being from Essex there are a lot of sad slappers around here, but this one actually looks good
Craplectric 2: Kix's build style is probably my favourite so this I like
Jaguar: Nice colour scheme, clean design too
Supersonic: Boxy vert, not much more can be said really.
SBD: It's a tiny S3
Cujo 2: Maneater: Simple design with decent wheelguards, though I reckon everyone is too busy counting the teeth on the disc to notice
Pike: Cleanest robot in it's heat, shame about the spinner lineup
DJX: Vengeance Remix: Nice to see Sickle's bots getting cleaner with every entry
Bored Again: The robot definition of a girl with a massive chest but nothing at the back
Break You Down: Simple design, but the exposed chassis means when it innevitably faces a spinner it will struggle.
Proximus: Another clean build
Tree Hugger: Nice skinwork and general overall design
Coal Miner: Literally the stock Coal Miner, but a fun entry never goes amiss
Legacy: Different...but looks cool.
Sarin: Nice colour scheme and general clean design
Gecko: Love how clean it is, but a gutrip from a vert is innevitable with an axe which is sad
Distributor: Looks wise it's ok, but can imagine it will be a havoc bomb when recording
Slightly M.A.D.: Another Kix build so nothing bad to say. Clean as hell.
Tearaway: I like a good drumbot...this looks to be just that
Duality: Quite a boxy design but clean
The Machine: Reminds me of one of Code's CAD robots
Cruor: Basic but should perform decently
Solar Storm 4: Same as above
Pure Abuse. Nice design, screaming for a skin on the chassis tho instead of pure white
Kopter: Me gusta
Binary Star Systems: Damn they are niceeeeee
Critical Mach II: Nothing really special, but it might be able to win a couple of battles
Kirin3: Bit messy, but the user is relatively new so guess it's a case of "everyone starts somewhere"
V2: Love this design, with all the DSC packs it's rare you see an industrial looking robot
Murderous Beetrute: Got a cute face...tho it will be sad if the face got slapped by a typhoon tooth
Earth, Wind & Fire: I have mixed opinions. I like the overall design but I think doing what Killer did with bars looks less flimsy than the disc
Catalyst: Clean design, interesting drum choice
Tsuihou: Basic shape that makes up for the vanilla look with good weapon power, and you gotta love a robot that can OOTA another
Pandrumonium: Standard drum shape, but nice skin and eggbeater setup
Veorra: Unironically like the robot, even if people do moan about 4 larges on a vert.
Puxxgear: Genuinely looking forward to this heat to see how a shell fairs without the like 6 typhoon teeth
Arctic Storm Mini: The HW version is decent, so hoping the CW version does well too
Pulse 3: Flatterline. Looks clean.
Neon Light: Really like this, probably the best looking Barberous style HW that I've seen so far.
Archon: Clean design, just hope the wedgelets do their job otherwise the disc won't be used much
Koto: Love how clean and simple it is, the little things like the skin on the side really help with a robot like this
Queen Bee II: Basic but should perform well
Gatecrash: Looks like Pulsar with a thinner drum. Looks alright.

I would be that guy to hate on the amount of typhoon spinners are in the tournament but genuinely some of the best looking robots are spinners. The axebots all looked nice too but worry about how they will fair. I'm not as confident this time round but I'm not as fussed with the result as I'm happy purely from the fact my entry this time is cleaner.

Let's hope this tournament goes well and good luck to anyone in it.

Been a while since I've used my showcase so might as well use it again.

Had a random thought of making a dustpan drum, so used a colour scheme of one of my much older builds to make Midnight Evo.

Brand new CW Vespin has been made purely for this event to try and retain it's title. It's unlikely, but I will enjoy seeing it compete more this time as I've actually made more of an effort this time. Bring on DM4

I've delayed replying on this for a while as I wasn't in a great state last night to respond without saying else I regret.

I am aware I can take things too far at times but that's because I take things to heart a bit more than others and act out on impulses a lot. This doesn't excuse me for doing the stupid s*** I have done, including the incident with Hop's girlfriend from a few months back (which I have apologised for in PM's with him multiple times).

Although there is a high risk this is falling on deaf ears I will apologise. I thought about stepping down from Discord and GTM for a while but know that nothing will be different when I come back as past actions seem to stick, which is a shame coz I just want to bury all of the conflict I have had with people and go back to a community where you can play a game and have fun, nothing more.

Edit: Noticed Hop made an edit saying about getting some help. I won't go into too much detail but in 4 weeks things should be resolved and I should be a lot better
