Tournament Archives / Orc's Wars Series 4 - Finale
« on: May 05, 2020, 06:08:17 AM »
Well the series is finally over: thanks everyone for taking part!

Thank you for all your hard work on this Orc. Like I said on discord, all your work is much appreciated and no of us would be here if not for your impact.
Congrats on this wonderful series. I looked up to this series a lot when I was trying to make SvL and I feel OW is one of the prime examples of what a good tournament is.
Honestly, thank you everyone for taking part. The response the last few days has been overwhelming and I'm happy all of you consider OW in high regard. Alas a tournament is only as good as it's competitors so I think that says something about you lot. :heart_smiley:

I'm gonna go take a break now but I will be unveiling OW5 plans later today so you all have time to get building! Stay tuned!

idk why you have a hardon for killing this place. If it's as useless and abandoned as you say, there'd be no reason to artificially freeze posting as nobody would bother posting anyway. Let sleeping dogs lie.
I have to agree. No point freezing it, just let it run it's course.

Here's the final part of the World Championship: hope you guys enjoy it

World Championship has been recorded: just working on the editing and such.

damn i left for two months and sh** got that bad huh
Left for two months and nobody noticed or cared in any community :V
I'm merely a relic from the past who comes back to haunt this place from time to time. It amazes and sickens me to know that I've been a part of this online community for 18 or so years.
Well, I appreciate the lost souls from times past who lurk around here still...even if you guys have no idea who any of the current people are or what is going on anymore xP

I'm gonna shut off entries for Gatekeeper's Gauntlet and UK vs the World tonight at midnight as we've hit the minimum amount needed. You can still drop me a message if you'd like to try and get your foot in the door and take part until then!

Aside from that, World Champs are full and we need 1 MORE Royal Rumble entrant!

Thanks everyone!

Tournament Archives / Orc's Wars Series 4 - SIDE EVENTS OPEN!
« on: March 30, 2020, 09:00:08 AM »
Side events for OW4 are now OPEN! Read CAREFULLY about the events below.

GATEKEEPER'S GAUNTLET:
- 14 entries: half repping OW veterans and the other half repping newcomers this series or people still relatively fresh to OW/RA2.
- Also NOT first come, first serve so don't cry if you don't get picked!
- OW4 bots ONLY.

UK VS THE WORLD:
- 14 entries altogether: half repping UK and the other the World.
- This will also NOT be first come first serve as I want the event to be at least a bit competitive compared to Robot Wars :V Again, please don't cry if I don't accept you.
- OW4 bots ONLY.

ROYAL RUMBLE: I kept this one secret!
- 29 entries open (Deadgnaws is in so)
- Robots are randomly drawn numbers 1-30.
- 3 robots fight at a time in the numerical order with 2 robots being eliminated each round either by KO/JD(crash/havok if a fight does so too many times). If it goes to JD or crashes/havoks, I will decide which robot stays on.
- Last remaining robot wins the event.
- OW4 bots ONLY.

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP:
- 30 slots open (Flatline has priority as Champion and I always enter Deadgnaws so)
- Single knockout tournament, battles are 1v1
- If you entered OW4 or OW4 QUALIFYING, you HAVE to use an OW4 bot. You can reskin it by all means but the weight must stay the same.
- If you DID NOT enter OW4 or OW4 QUALIFYING, you can enter a robot into the World Championship.
- One or two guest slots as always for people who don't play RA2 (don't cry over this either).
- Two robots per country.
- When sending, you must also specify your country.

I think that's everything, good luck everyone. Will post a list of WC entries as I get them and will post lists for GG and UKvWorld when I decide them!

Figured I'd post this here along with a bit more I forgot to say in the OW server.

- Yes I've stepped down NOT because of the Rhys/PWS situation but that was the final nail in the coffin as it were. So please don't call it an overreaction to one thing when it was the sum of multiple issues/causes.
- Despite my short tenure, I'm glad to hear some people thought I did well in the position: I don't feel I accomplished much and a lot fell apart at the end but I did what I could. I've asked Geese that if GTM needs me as a tournament advisor or whatever then I am here to help in that regard. I just don't feel I should "lead" anymore.
- Do I agree that the community needs to be a bit nicer to itself and sorting out the issues? Indeed, I'm not sure if it will happen but we'll see. That's out of my hands. At the same time, I'm not saying this community is the worst either. You've all decent people but sometimes the jokes/whacking go too far.
- Do I ALSO feel that outside communities/people still have a bias against RA2 that won't go away even if THEY support absolute jerkoffs or aren't the best people themselves? Absolutely.

At the end of the day I feel I failed myself but I also feel that people on both sides failed me too. The last few weeks have been a massive drain on me mentally which is also a big reason I'm stepping down. I stand by my thought that I don't think there is a legitimate bad person in this community, we have edgy humour or sometimes jokes go too far or people get annoyed over the silliest things (yes me too, hello there) but I'm very thankful to call RA2/GTM etc a family.

If you need tournament advice or whatever, my DMs are always open (I'm always on Discord) but will check GTM when I can.

Thanks for supporting me during my tenure as admin :heart_smiley: Viva la OW...or something.

i want ow4 ai
You can wait till the series is over. Also, as a warning/callout: don't start begging me to play with you or showcase your robots. I've seen you hassling others on multiple videos/websites and I won't tolerate you doing it to me. Have some respect/manners.

In other news: 3pm BST (British Summer Time) TOMORROW (Monday the 30th of March) I will make a post here that side events are open as well as details about them.

Hope you look forward to the post-series!

I've seen some stuff on discord about OW5 being invite only for the main competition and then side events being open for everyone.  Will a new blood be one of those side events?  If so, that's one I'd rly love to have a go at entering, since I failed to get a bot completed in time for fresh metal.

Short answer: yes, main comp will be invitiational. I do plan on making side events open for others but details on what events and such will be revealed closer to the time. Still gotta finish this tournament after all ;)
