Just cause Orc uses it doesn't mean the rule isn't dumb. I'm flattered that people still have Paladin PTSD, but the meta has moved on and gutripper VS would dump on it.

I might actually make something for this, we'll see. Looking forward to it!
Sure there are some rules in OW that need changing for next time but the burst rule has been in since OW2 and I've not really heard objections about it. That being said, while I am honoured some people like to copy some of my rules, make sure you're doing it for the right reasons and not just to copy for the sake of it. We need tournament diversity...which honestly Deathmatch does really well and I'm happy it's still CW.

Contests / Re: BOTM Changes going forward
« on: September 29, 2019, 11:29:56 AM »
Do they need to be showcased before being entered or can they be showcased afterwards? The reason being I thought BOTM was supposed to be sorta anonymous so that ppl genuinely voted for the best bot rather than choosing a vet over a noob or something like that. If they are showcased before then everyone will know who made what.
I think at this point honestly people can more often than not guess who is who correctly. I'd rather have the website continuously by showcase use than just for the short time of guessing who built what, if you catch my drift. It shouldn't be about WHO built it, it should be about what stands out the most.

Contests / BOTM Changes going forward
« on: September 29, 2019, 05:10:19 AM »
Hello all!

Thanks again for your feedback about BOTM! Starting onwards, BOTM will mostly remain the same apart from that entries for it must now be SHOWCASED alongside being messaged to the BOTM account. Hopefully, this will provide a bit of a burst in showcases and encourages feedback/talk. Kix will host this month again but we're planning on alternating hosts monthly to stop people getting bored/burning out.

Also if you haven't voted for BOTM October then GO AND DO IT AAAAAAAAAAAAH

« on: September 24, 2019, 01:50:26 PM »
Okay so listed Nicky down for Stock and myself down for IRL, I'm ideally looking for a team of people who can host. (Also if you said you can host Challenge Belt, say what meta(s) as that would be very helpful. Thanks!

As for BOTM, perhaps people who want to enter it could PM their showcase entry(ies, depending on meta) of choice to the BOTM host? I'm thinking out loud here.

What incentive(s) would persuade YOU to help out with hosting? I know hosting can be a chore but if we really want to get things running better then we need to start working better as a community.

Bumping this as I feel it's important. We've had a few people put themselves forward (updated the OP with those people), no-one will be picked yet as I'm testing the waters to see if I get any more bites.

Yes indeed: we're looking for dedicated members who will be happy to host BOTM/Challenge Belt. If current hosts wish to stay on then they can let me know below!

BOTM Host (CodeSilver, Sickle, Dark-AL, Bildschirm,
Stock Challenge Belt Host (+ possible Parsec Host) Nicky
Ironforge Challenge Belt Host (+ possible Parsec Host)
DSL-S Challenge Belt Host (+ possible Parsec Host) 8bean (non-Parsec),
DSL-IRL Challenge Belt Host (+ possible Parsec Host) Bildschirm, Orc

If interested, please detail what host role(s) you would like to take on. I will be discussing the future of these events with those who get the roles.

Thank you!

Eyy a CW tournament where I can try out my new version of Apogee. I'm down to team with Orc again after our successful run in the last double man, or most other people too if Orc wants to team with someone else, or sit this one out
Boi, this gives me an excuse to build a new Orcatraz and gives YOU an excuse to team with it! ;)

Would different build styles have their own tournaments?
You mean like metas?
i'd be down for maintaining a rankings system like superbomb suggested. i've got experience with that sort of thing
Same here. I study sports statistics and analytics so this is my cup of tea (except I hate tea).
If we go down this route then having someone/some people keep track of this would be wonderful!

I am liking the sounds of a points system depending on where builders placed in a tournament! Thank you Hop/Nightraven for your suggestions, think this could make it a lot better.

CHANGES LISTED IN BOLD.

The RA2 2020 TOURNAMENT SEASON (name WIP)
- To try and encourage people to host/take part in tournaments, this Season would be a topic of some sort showing a list/calender of official tournaments.
- Hosts would have to sign their tournament up to be added to the official list/calender. New/unreliable hosts would probably have to commit to finishing a tournament first before having tournaments accepted.
- Builders will get points depending on where they finish in these tournaments. Around the Top 16 or so compete to be the champion of their respective metas. (with a custom award for added "ooooooh" factor!)
- I'm also thinking of adding BOTM and Challenge Belt into this somehow. BOTM is a lot easier of an idea (The 11/12 BOTM winners would be voted on, robot with the most votes wins Bot Of The Year). Challenge Belt could be top 8 or so builders that held the belt for the longest? Still unsure for this.

Thanks for the help so far, all criticism/ideas are still welcome as this is a big idea!

this is a sh** idea
Sorry to hear that, if you could give me some reasons why you think that and what you think would improve it then I'd appreciate it.
I like the idea, but I'd prefer if the top builders in each division went through into the end tourney instead of just the tournament winning bots, so we'd have builders that are incredibly consistently good, but never won a tournament.

Also would help the issue of having like 2 stock bots at the end of the year
Feel this is important to be discussed, could be a decent change if people agree. Perhaps builders who never win a tournament but come 2nd/3rd a lot could be added to the end of year tourney.

Hope to hear more feedback from everyone. It's a bit barebones atm but it's an idea we can work on together, regardless of if it goes ahead or not in the end!

Off-Topic Discussion / IDEA: RA2 2020 Tournament Season
« on: September 17, 2019, 05:24:06 AM »
Okay so this idea is the most experimental and if it went live wouldn't start until 2020. I was inspired by how the Roblox robot events were run and I did briefly talk with Sevalent about this a while ago.

- Every tournament winner heads to the "End of Year Celebration" to battle it out in a fun tournament where we crown the best of the best but also celebrate a year of tournaments/GTM/RA2 etc etc. These winners will of course be seperated by their meta and weightclass.
- I'm also thinking of adding BOTM and Challenge Belt into this somehow. BOTM is a lot easier of an idea (The 11/12 BOTM winners would be voted on, robot with the most votes wins Bot Of The Year) but Challenge Belt will require some thinking.

I am more than happy to discuss this with all of you as it's a very experimental idea that would require a lot of elbow grease but could be a lot of fun. I'm hoping with this, we can get more Stock/IF tournaments and have more variety in weightclass/arena etc as I feel we've been missing that for a long time. Of course for this to work, it would require EVERYONE to work together.

Looking forward to hearing your opinions and ideas.

Cheers!
