i know, but DSL-S is almost dead, unrealistic is dead as well, IRL is basically all thats left for DSL nowadays
Just because you say a meta is almost dead, doesn't mean you can't do it. Doing IRL for this type of tournament is risky, due to what I said in my previous post. But running a standard tournament may lead to a low turn out due to a lack of overall interest. It's your decision at the end of the day, and I'm not going to stop you.

wish it wasnt irl so we could use our actual first dsl bots
I have to agree with Reier here. I remember that when building my first DSL HW bot before I joined GTM, the building practices of the bot wouldn't of been acceptable by today's IRL meta standards. In truth, some users at the time of making their first DSL IRL bots, probably wouldn't of known about IRL building rules or at the time seeing DSL 2.1 IRL building rules, which would be unacceptable by today's standards such as using skirt hinges for flipping arms etc. So if you want this tournament idea to work, at least make it an unrealistic or standard tournament, due to what has been previous mentioned in the post.

Contests / Re: Vote BOTM November 2018 (Unrealistic)

Thoughts and opinions:
1. Looks vicious. Combining the power of pop-up with the velocity of a poker, shows a high potential of being a true threat in a tournament.
2. Feels a little weak for a lightweight. Without much weaponry on the bar, an unnecessary feeder wedge, and some weight wasted on the multiple angled connectors. This is often a bot that would be shoved to one side.
3. Feels good for all the wrong reasons. "It's unique?" is what I would say, but those wheels are going to be hacked off with ease.

Discussion / Re: RA2 Wiki
« on: October 22, 2018, 10:15:46 AM »
People say that I spam the wiki with false information. It's actually true. for instance- BW-lose more weight! uses a snapper2 and plastic armor. Why? I SAW the bot's innards and actually looked at the construction of this bot in the bot lab.

Also, bots like Scrabble have DDTs and not snappers.

Feel free to prove me wrong by drawing up pictures of the bot files and the construction of those bots.
I did check into this and I can confirm that you are right on this occasion, I've checked on the internals of BW-Lose more weight and yes, it does use a snapper 2 for the weapon (Evidence below). As for the claim about plastic armour, I've bot file, the value of armour strength is set to 80, which is the set weight for plastic from the armour tab in-game.

However, this isn't to say that all your edits were true. When I looked at your edit for Battering-ewe, you claimed that Battering-Ewe was armored with steel and had two pinks batteries for power. So I opened the bot's bot file and found out that the armour strength value is set at 200, the value for DSA. If the armour happen to be steel, this value would of been set to 175. As for the internals, I checked the insides and found that the bot used one niffy for power (Images can be found below). Overall, this could be the case of you running an older version of Starcore in your copy of RA2. The screenshot and bot file check was done in Starcore V4 Alpha 2 and you could be running Starcore V3 or an earlier version. But if that's the case, then the article should be updated with a screenshot of the newer version of the bot.

New popup. Plastic armor, but a bit of protection with 2 ram plates. Very damaging.

Don't use Plastic Armour! We keep saying this but use DSA! It's much tougher than plastic in Stock.

Apart from that, I wouldn't use, multiple snapper for the weapons. They may be lighter than the DDT, but they're less practical to use, especially with your set-up and aren't as powerful as the DDT. You might as well keep them to make a burst wedge. You cold save some weight by removing the Snapper 2 with the spike strip since it's a waste of weight and spike strips are very ineffective for a pop-up in stock despite the damage zones.  Like what 09 said, Y connectors are a waste of weight. You can try using the effe glitch to insert multiple extenders onto the snapper/DDT to save weight.

Not bad for a beginner. Just something for next time, you can take in-game screenshots by hitting F11 on your keyboard which will save your taken screenshot to the game's screenshot folder.

As for the bot itself, you don't need three supervolts to power your bot, two will be enough to provide the power that you need for a heavyweight, the third is just a waste of weight. You can also save some weight by resizing the chassis in the area where the drive motors are. In case you struggle in fitting two supervolts in, you can try to stack the batteries together to save some room for an additional snapper 2 for an extra feeder wedge. I would also remove the snapper 2 that connect to the two iron spikes, since if you are making a traditional pop-up, iron spikes aren't exactly viable for a pop-up, due to the damage collision area being at the tip instead of all around like the razor. With the weight that you saved, you can add in another Weapon motor, some more razors or the extra snapper 2 for another feeder wedge.

For the rest of the weapon set-up it's not in any means bad. But I would recommend getting another feeder wedge onto your bot. Having one feeder wedge is fine for maybe a lightweight or a middleweight, but most heavyweights will often have at least two feeder wedges will ensure a better chance at getting under opponents better than having the single wedge, but also to use up the weight limit. So replace the blue snapper with snapper 2s, due to the end snapper part being able to reach much lower to the chassis, allowing for a much better wedge ground clearance. You should read this for a few more tips on snapper wedges: http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm#wedges

This is a lot to take in by the amount that when into this post. Sure it looks all daunting with all these words of advice, but if you take one step at a time, you can see an improvement between your older bots and your newer bots. If a little more advice on stacking and glitches, you should look here: https://gametechmods.com/forums/tutorials-and-tips/ra2-stacking-and-using-glitches-to-build/

ALSD bar is way too high. You might want to lower the chassis so that the bar has a proper chance at hitting your opponent. If you can, try and see if you can bring your Antweight closer to the 125kg weight limit such, it may be close to the limit, but there are places were you can shave off some weight. As for your Beetleweight, you need to use up the weight limit. With the left over weight, you could add some more weaponry onto the bar such as maybe some small typhoon teeth, beater bars or bar ends to get a little more damage out your bot and use up some of the leftover weight.

Also, it would be nice if you at least give us an internal shot of your bots, so we can evaluate the insides instead of just brushing off the comment without much of a reply. Also, what armour are you using for both bots?

I like what you did for the bot's front, but it's still a very simple bot. At least you managed to fit the theme.

Honesty, RA2 Stock is easy to do, DSL is kinda difficult to do.
Stock is easy to you since you're used to building in Stock. But DSL is only going to be difficult unless you practice. Don't just build one DSL bot then give up and complain about it like a pessimistic person, go back to the mod and have another go!

As for your bot's you've posted: I like your bot's skins, more so with Vemon bite, but you seriously need to build to the weight limit. With the amount of weight left over, you can try and fit on more weaponry, possibly better or more drive motors if you a little more speed. Also, at least provide use with internal shots of your bots and tell us what armour type each bot is armoured with. I can't give a lot of advice for someone who wishes to build Stock IRL, but don't just brush comments/ feedback off. Listen to us, reply if necessary and we can improve your building skills.

Modifications / Re: IDEA: Everything mod?
« on: September 22, 2018, 12:38:11 PM »
Just had a small probably stupid idea
Should I combine almost every single modpack released on gtm?
This includes stock, DSL2.1, DSL2.2, Ironforge, Starcore, Gigafrost, Official Robot Wars, other robot wars and roaming robots mods, Live Designs, and any others I can find.

It'll take a long time to be made, but if it is who would be interested?
This idea has been already done by Asbees for his Evento Uno mod. But then again, said mod is notoriously broken possibly due to him being too lazy to modify numerous components for balancing reasons including the Stock and Ironforge components. For the former being broken already and the later for not adjusting each component's weight to match up to the old weight system instead of the Ironforge weight system.

Just to put it in short: If you ever want combine every mod into Robot Arena 2, just be prepared to modify most component's stats for the sake of balance.

Billy's Stock bot should be easy opponent with the amount of weaponry that my bot possesses. Badger's Stock bot on the other hand, stands a good challenge for my bot, due it ability to feed my bot into it's weapon. So, best to sit back and see what happens.

Pulso would technically be a cruiserweight (for which the limit is 600kg), but Hammerstein is absurdly underweight. You should either bulk it up to cruiserweight, or shave some weight off and see if you can make it a middleweight instead.

Also, since you seem to be more interested in IRL-style bots than the actual Stock meta, you should check out the DSL total conversion in the Downloads section, which is more suited to those types of robots. (Hope I don't get shouted at for saying that...)
Have to agree with F1Krazy here. These are the sort of the bots that you would expect for something like Banter Wars or something. Unfortunately most users on GTM often build within the unrealistic meta within stock, instead of IRL styled bots, in which most users use the DSL Total Conversion mod for IRL bot building. If you don't know what I'm talking about: there's a handy guide for building unrealistic stock bots which can be found here: http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/ra2techs.htm

As for your bots themselves, it would be nice if we can have an internal preview of your bots as well as letting us know about your bot's armour. Just to know if you're using the right components, the right amount of battery power and if you're bot's armour is suitable for the meta.

Just to correct my bot's name. It's Amour spinner and not Armour Spinner. Unless you happened to pick up the one that reads Armour spinner, then you've picked up the wrong bot by mistake.
