Contests / Re: VOTE BOTM SEPTEMBER 2018 (UNREALISTC/DSL-S)

Thoughts and opinions:
1. Looks good. I see that that this juggler does have a potential. Though those exposed Z-teks and snappers are at risk of being ripped off however.
2. Hi Badger! Moving on.
3. A unusual weapon set-up with an unusual use of a Kill Dozer plow. However, there are some areas of where weight could be saved such as removing the sawblades covering the wheels and the mini sawblades on the weapons, and areas that could be improved such as making the skirt wedges a little longer and wider.
4. Doesn't looks like productivity has gone down during this build process. Productivity has reached new levels in woke building. Especially with the high mace count and being the one, odd stilt bot.

Discussion / Re: You can add more stadiums on RA2 Stock?
« on: August 21, 2018, 01:44:26 PM »
If you want Action Cam, you need to download here: https://gametechmods.com/forums/downloads/?sa=view;down=179.
Once you extract the file in either WinRar or 7zip, drag both py files into your Arena folder of RA2 and replace the files. When you start a match within the game, make sure to hit both F3 and F4 on your keyboard to bring up the action cam at anytime. Remember that Action Cam works with any mod of the game, so you can use it with DSL or Ironforge, without any major problems.
As for adding more Areas, it's pretty simple. Just download any arena, extract the file, then drag the file contents into your Arena folder.  From then, you should be able to select the arena through the arena selector in-game, and then you start having a fight or two within it.

Fairly decent Destructive Criticism replica
Unnecessary harshness
Bit about DSL2 is true
Don’t totally trash him like that, he’s only been on here for a couple of days now.
Anyways Ant that’s actually quite good for a newcomer! Skin job is on point
Look, I'm not being a dick. I'm putting forward a fair point on why the replica isn't that good, what could be done to improve the replica, and some word of thought on building in DSL.

Also, newcomer? He is, but he has been posting replicas on the Unofficial Robot Arena 2 Facebook group for months. He had all the time to gather some feedback to improve his designs and replicas, but with the lack of feedback, it would been nice to give some feedback on how to improve his replica building skills. But yeah, I shouldn't of written my post like that so I'm sorry for the trouble that I've created.

First of all, it's a very decent attempt, especially for a newcomer to GTM (my opinion for what it's worth)
Dark, please stop trying to be edgy.
There is a line between giving advice and saying what is good/isn't good, then there is totally trashing the person.
Cut it out.

This isn't just Dark, it's people that bash others and their work that makes others leave or hate GTM, and for what? Because a skin wasn't perfect, c'mon seriously. There's no reason to be insulting, if it was bad in anyway I would still have the same opinion. It's stupid things like this that make the community suck as a whole. Again, cut it out.
In truth, I was never trashing the skin, only pointing out on how the build is inaccurate and giving some tips on how to improve the replica.  I never intended to be harsh around the builder in the first place. It was how I worded my post that made it seem like I was right off the bat: trashing, insulting the builder, when I shouldn't of done. I should of never of written my op that made seem like I was being so harsh in the first place. So, let's just end it here.

Destructive Criticism:

I try my best
I'm sorry to say this, but that doesn't even look Destructive Criticism TBH. Though I cannot blame you for building in Stock due to Stock's building and component limitations, but even so you should try and get your replica as close to the original if possible. For instants, your replica's disc should be facing downwards, so the disc is near to the center and not near to the top of the chassis, though knowing Stock that would be difficult, and for the outer cage, you should try and build two pipe frames instead of just using one, through multiple base anchors on the sides just like the original.

So I want to ask you this: Have you ever thought about building Replicas in DSL? Building in DSL will allow you to have much more components variety and tools of which you can build replicas that are much closer to the original, compared with what you made in Stock. It's just a little thought, I'm not stopping you from building in Stock. But just consider it.
Says Weird Al who only succeeds in college admission essays repeatedly on end :dumb)

Ive recently made some Battlebots replicas, and even though they're already on reddit, I thought Id put them up here as well.

Not bad. However, End Game seriously needs improvement. Try making the chassis lower, if you can't do it with the chassis options, try using BFE, to match the chassis height of the actual robot. Set the front wheels a little further back remember End Game's Wheels don't pass through the chassis wedge, and seriously fix the skin on the front of the wedge. Not only the text doesn't match up to the position of the real bot, but also the texture looks ugly with the "game" text looking crooked and very off, it's aligned to the "End" but the text is shifted to the left like italic text.

Stock Showcases / Re: Team "Corruption"
« on: August 04, 2018, 12:24:54 PM »
Hi there welcome to GameTechMods. Just to say, if you want to show off your RA2 bots that you made in Stock, make a showcase within the showcase section of the forums and not within a creativity section for the future, this section is for showing off user's creativity outside of RA2 such as artwork and CADs, not for posting RA2 bots.

Also just another little note for the future, you don't need to attach the bot file to your post when showing them off. Instead take a screenshot of your bot within the game by pressing F11, and then attach the screenshot in your post as something a JPEG, so us users can look at your bots without having to download the respective bot file to see what can be improved. Apart from that, I hope that you enjoy your time on the forums.

ok. who is andy?
He is, I think, a permabanned user since 2015, for being toxic and hacking someone's account

Also, his account's name is HurricaneAndrew

Toxicity and multi-accounting
Ah yes. I remembered when he reappeared under the username of Shootingpost, acted in a toxic manor against certain users creations, and then created the infamous wiggle post before being banned again. Such was times.

That was pwnator?! Good sh** from him that bot is sick
Those 8 people who voted for me a pretty stupid tbh. Made this for the sake of just having a joke bot so im glad people didnt take mine as a serious entry
I was honestly not expecting that as well. I thought that 2 was Tails. Inc for almost being something that would be within his style. But TBH, your entry did feel like a poorly made joke that should be funny, but it's not. With the bot looking like something that can be put together in 10 mins combined with a few odd building flaws, pretty much sealed its fate for me to vote against it.

Thoughts and Opinions:
1. I get the joke and the bot does have some good extender work. However, the overall feel to this is a bit underwhelming when compared to what else could of been done instead.
2.Now this is a work of art. I'm surprised that anyone could turn a simple sloped chassis into a Bucky like bot, instead of doing what everyone has done before. Though, it probably would of been nice to show off what the bot would look like when the flamethrowers are being used in action.

Modifications / Re: Coloured DSL Bars
« on: July 24, 2018, 01:33:29 PM »
Good luck with that.

I've checked the component's gmf file and it's nothing like any other component within the game. Normally, each component would have a texture/ bmp file connected to it for reference to applying a texture on. But both the component file doesn't have a texture file and the gmf has no reference to a texture or a base colour in a similar vain to the DSL 100cm and higher disks. Instead, you get a load of physic values including friction and colliders, some optimization value and the attachment points. Personally, I wouldn't go messing around with these values just in case the game does crash or something. So, try not to touch those values for now.

Understandable. I'll just change it to DSL? Or do I just scrap it?
You can still do Stock if you want there's nothing stopping you, not even Superbot. However as it's been said, below Stock LWs, you're not going to get a lot of interesting designs. DSL does offer a lot more variety in designs than Stock AW, encouraging users to be more creative. But like I said, it's up to you at the end of the day.

That's not a bad start. The number one tip if you're making faux extender bots is that you don't need to stick on steel armour onto the main chassis. Because most of your bot will be protected by the outside armour plates, there's no need in having a tough enough chassis armour to protect your bot's vitals, this is just a waste of weight. Swapping the armour for something like plastic 5 will save weight to put towards better weaponry, better drive motors, or even better protection.

As for your weapon, you should swap out the VDMA for another burst piston to get a little more power into the weapon. When I built Grindelwald for GTMCS2, I used a wide medium burst for the base, followed by a medium for the end burst, if you want an little idea of how much power a HW four bar should possess for OOTA capabilities. Apart from that, you should make your flipping arm's armour plate a little longer. You should try and fit the flipping arm within the space of the gap, mainly to ensure that your opponent can be directly on the bar when your bot get's underneath them for a immediate flip, instead trying to get the bot to move upwards.
