Right now (as in recently) I am putting together an article about McDonald's BattleBots toys. It's been taking me a while because I've had to go out of my way to procure some ridiculously expensive hardware to put this feature together. The fact that I worked ~60 hours last week is also totally not an excuse or a cop-out. Promise.  This new article is essentially "done", I just have to take all of the pictures for it. I only post a handful of pictures but as you saw with the .RAR file I provided from the MiniBots article, I take way more than I need. Makes for a nice Tumblr post afterward. I've also been tracking traffic to my site over the past month or so and most of it is coming from GTM. So, thank you. Now I just need to hope Google does its thing and brings in some decent search traffic or else I'm boned with this project and doomed to a life of writing only about BattleBots. I reviewed some sh**ty candy Lego things last week. You should go check that out if you like copious amounts of autism jokes and commentary on candies based upon things kids choke to death on.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is the distinction between a thwack bot and an SnS that a thwack bot is mobile and only attacks when in range and the SnS will spin until the game starts to count it out? Or are the two terms synonymous?

There were 50 in the BattleBots set. I own 28 of them, so more than half. As far as I know there are no known owners of any of the 8 finalists (except for the user here who had Ziggo as a kid) and none of the chromebots are accounted for sadly. My article was only about my favorites and some reflections on the ones I owned since I can't have a hands-on look at the ones that I sadly don't own. I've been trying to track them down but they are very rare so I opted to write my article only owning 28 of 50. Ugh, camera problems meant I only just got the pictures I said I would take. Still, here they finally are. There were more minibots, but these are the only ones I own.
I've also given my personal opinion on every minibot since I don't have a fancy website of my own to put them on :P
 Chaos 2: Not a fan of this one really. Seems too thin and long, and the back isn't very detailed at all. Hypnodisk: Also not a fan of this one. The chassis is weirdly shaped, not rectangular like the actual robot. Just makes it look far too cute for one of the most destructive robots in Robot Wars. Pussycat: I dislike this one the most of them all. For a robot that's supposed to work all sides up the minibot is completely ruined by the stupid pullback function all of these minibots have. At least the disk turns around, unlike on Hypnodisk. Panic Attack: The paint and details are fairly nice, but suffers from the cuteness syndrome Hypnodisk has. Suicidal Tendencies: I like this one a lot. Painted nicely, and the claw actually moves.
 Wheely Big Cheese: The wheels look pretty bad on this one, and again the pullback thing ruins a robot that was supposed to look the same either way up. RefBot: Quite nicely detailed and painted, although the face looks kinda dumb. Scores bonus points for having one of the arms move, and then immediately loses those points because the other arm does not move. Plunderbird 5: Claw is quite nice, and it's paint is fairly good, but the claw was unfortunately a bit flimsy, so is currently held on by superglue. Razer: The Razer logo is nicely painted, but no effort at all seems to have been put into painting the crushing beak. None of the holes in the crusher are there, and the eye is just a tiny dab of red paint. Also suffers from warped proportions due to cute-itus. Shunt: Not sure what I think about this one. The plows are done nicely enough, but the axe doesn't move, which is very disappointing. Also had some sort of antenna at some point, now lost forever.
 Dead Metal: Very nice paint job, and a really nice mold, although seems a bit smaller than it should be. Scores points for using the pullback motor's wheel as the disk; if you're going to have a terrible action feature on your toy, then at least use it creatively. Wild Thing: Nice paint, and the disk even spins. I like this one a lot, but I'm not fond of the wheels that are part of the mold and painted on. Matilda: Painted very well, with pretty damn good detailing. The lifting forks actually lift as well, making this one of my favourites. Dominator 2: Simple but effective. Painted nicely, and the axe swings, although the spikes on the front of the chassis should go further back in the middle to be accurate. Mega Morg: My favourite out of all the minibots I own. The lifter actually lifts, and it has a very nice, bright paintjob, with the metal at the front done particularly well, in my opinion These are fantastic! I can see where the exaggerated/cutesy geometry might be a bit distracting but overall I'd say they're superior to the BB ones in terms of paint/decal quality and mold.

I like the one guy who built like 3 identical horizontal spinners and none of them do well, but you can tell he's having a good time.

I can't figure out how the knockout tournament works. The hexagon robot finished last in Stock Car but didn't get eliminated. Also, REX2 is painted red later in the episode for some reason.
Sssshhh, just relax and listen to the wacky sound effects.

There's a really unique Last Rites-esque spinner in this video at around 4:20 --
Has some oddly cambered wheels and scoots around. It doesn't WIN, but it's neat looking.

Arena walls didn't stop Inertia Labs from their Toro series of BattleBots. :P

Gotta say, I was expecting that loss... but I wasn't expecting Clickbeetle's bot to be able to throw The Chaos Engine around like that. Jesus christ. XD
Also, it looks like that pneumatic ram inside The Chaos Engine's plow makes for a nice secret weapon, it almost took out Clickbeetle. :P

Also good to see that The Chaos Engine is the only robot of its kind in the event. Against Clickbeetle I expect a repeat of BattleBots 9 and by that I mean he will win because my proof of concepts don't fight well.
Your design is definitely unique, dude. You'll know the victor soon as the videos are uploading to YouTube as I type this out.
Thanks! :3 I have more fun finding new designs and ideas 11 years into this game's life than I do actually meticulously making the most effective robot possible. That's the challenge I derive from it and it's a lot of fun for me. For everyone else: Since the splash is a little nondescript and the videos are not yet posted, The Chaos Engine has two of the very large DSL discs for wheels each mounted onto the dual Perm motors. The discs have spinner shell parts on them and each shell part alternates between having 1 or 2 small drum pieces. On the ends of these drum pieces is an antweight wheel. Essentially what this does is create a giant custom tire that actually has traction so you don't get that weird sliding ice physics nonsense you get when you have saw blade tires and stuff. That's the biggie for Chaos Engine at least. It also has a lot of decorative parts but I won't spoil those yet. :3 Overall the robot has the least amount of actual weaponry in the event, it is armed with a giant custom bulldozer blade, pneumatic ram, and some spinning discs. For all that, however, the weaponry doesn't make up that much of the bot's overall weight (4980 kg).

You have to remember, they're paying completely out of pocket for the "privilege" of being your entertainment, with no realistic expectation of any monetary compensation. How arrogant does that sound to you?
Razer was essentially the UK's equivalent to Biohazard. Surely they made out nicely in the way of winnings and royalties for likenesses and toys and all that other good stuff. I'm not sure if Mortis' hate was manufactured or not but they certainly did carry an air of entitlement by describing at length their L30,000 robot.
