Double Elimination is the simplest approach that makes sure people don't get quickly taken out by my generic 36hs. It also brings back memories to the BBEANS generation. I would prefer this overall.
Heats have worked generally work on tournament style TV shows because you get a lot of content/contestants in and out. But the system is not fair to people who get bad draws. To fix that you either lot of fairly applied wildcard spots or you a large, time-consuming, Frankenstein formats akin to what was seen in the Robot Wars reboot.
Something really unique would be a system based off of some North American (and Australian) sports. You have a "group stage" with 8 groups of 8. You earn points based on how you win your fights and the top robot(s) from each group advance to a championship tournament. The twist is that instead of a generic round-robin some extra matches will be held between members of different groups. In my view, those last matches are more dramatic because they’re each affecting two groups.

You should find a way to stabilize your drum without having as much open chassis sticking out. Horizontal weapons are already good at killing drums, but you could also be side hammer food as is.

I haven't used this showcase in a few months because of some hardware issues. If everything goes swimmingly I should be able to update this showcase by the end of the month.
In the meantime, I'd like some funky building requests from the rest of you. It has been a while, so I am running on fumes.

not trying to change the subject, but we're currently looking into appointing someone to head admin to fill kill's position
it's not set in stone yet, but we do want to have it set up to where the userbase has direct influence over who takes the position
also I'm going to bed for now so this is on hoppin for now. please clap
TBH I think the 2018 awards were evidence that we shouldn't let people vote on stuff like this
Geese also said the staff is "appointing" a new admin. I assume us plebs are getting a "yay" "nay" vote.

Either zoom in closer, use two pictures of your robot or crop your pictures.
As for the robot, it looks acceptable. There's something about the tiny "hands" over the discs that I don't like. Try making them thicker if possible.

If you can get extra battery life like Geice's Childs Play clone has, it would be a 10. Cool to see a stock "splash" in 2019.

why is that even a question it's always been the forklift
Oh, how I wanted that item so badly. (And the wood armor.)
My go to weapon was the switchblade, though I was also a bit partial to the long arm saw blades.
Jam my radio

Hall of Fames are meaningless, and awards shouldn’t be taken too seriously. You know what you contribute, and that doesn’t change no matter how much validation others give you.
You're just jelly that you couldn't win best newcomer.
I've been in this community for, what, 16 years? I'll get that award eventually. Until then,
(Image removed from quote.)
Total boomer. What's the best weapon in RA1?

I can enter, but I'll go easy, is that ok?
edit: The comp with my Ra2 on it is on the shelf. I might use one of my robots on the exchange.

As for your question. it depends on the smartzone itself. The main difference is that the older smartzones have a kilo or more of weight to them, while newer ones (still pretty old) are only .1 kg.

Re-edited: Most of the results are plausible, and the ones that aren't are understandably either IRL or 2016-18 focused.
Results like these are why Hall of Fames usually have closed voting pools. The system becomes dumb when contributors like Serge (RA2CF, probably other coding achievements), MikeNCR (innovated late 2000s-early 2010s DSL play), and Psyclone (good stock builder when that was all we had) can't make it in but people with far-less of a legacy can get 4+ votes for being new. But it's my voting system so I can't blame anyone but myself.
Overall, gj Hop, you ran everything went smoothly and you were able to finish this last-minute when nobody stepped up.

It's funky looking in a good way. I like the vert configuration the most.

It's got a unique setup for a Ra2 robot, and the extenders are clean. If it was mine, I would add a better-looking skin, and tighten up the wheel guards for better aesthetic.
