There are some amazing-looking robots in the field, especially the reps. I hope Spitfire and Absolute Zero are able to hold their own.

Noticed that the robots when immobile and upside down seem to continuously slide around
I can't remember if I mentioned this already but the same goes for things like horizontal discs, you break one off and it goes sliding across the arena like a slow-motion hockey puck. I'm certain that one time I attacked a broken-off disc and it dealt damage to my opponent, but I haven't been able to replicate it so maybe I was mistaken.

I've been resisting the urge to quote this every time someone has posted one of these joke callout threads and I can't resist any longer.

I've come to make an announcement: 090901 is a bitch-ass mother****er. He pissed on my ****ing wife. That's right, he took his admin ****ing quilly dick out, and he pissed on my ****ing wife, and he said his dick was "THIS BIG" and I said, "That's disgusting". So I'm making a callout post on gametechmods-dot-com: 090901, you got a small dick, it's the size of this walnut except it's way smaller.

Some of these are really messy in execution - Legendary Idol in particular stands out to me as needing a lot of tidying up on the supports - but you've got some interesting ideas here, and you're building in bulk, which is a good way to practice and hone your skills and style. Just keep building and refining your designs, and over time you'll naturally learn what looks good and what doesn't, what performs well and what doesn't. Keep at it!

I wonder, who builds a bot with 10 small beaters. That's a lot.

Planning to update Fire Ant and throw that in too, so I've got a "red bot with a weird weapon" like I did for DM2 and DM3.

And here it is:

Fire Ant V2.png

The main improvement is a change of wheels, from small Colsons to Hypnos, giving it lower ground clearance and a lot more grip. I've made a couple of other minor tweaks, but I think it was pretty optimal already.

I've got the updated Tearaway ready, just gotta get my second entry polished up and I'll be good to go.

I didn't realise how spammy the original Tearaway's drum actually was... but stripping it back to the new beater limit for DM5 gave me enough weight to strengthen some of the armour and increase the drive to NPC fasts (I thought it already had them but they were just regular NPCs!). It's also a little more compact than before.

I don't expect it to defend its title, but I didn't expect it to win last time, and it did, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

CodeSliver's tourney reminded me to finish updating Absolute Zero, so here it is:

Absolute Zero.png

It may have half the power of Spitfire, but it's still enough to send heavyweights flying into the air and across the Test Arena. Which is very satisfying to do, might I add. The front wedge is a separate component made of 4mm steel, and the wedgelets are 5mm steel.

nobody did the swing day, lol
I wanted to, as I actually had an idea, but I ended up busy. I'll see if I can catch up tonight.

Holy wow, has it really been three whole months since I finished a new build? My new job is taking up even more of my time than I thought  :dead:

Anyway, here's a compacted version of Bardiche, my vertical bar spinner. It now has improved battery life, improved self-righting, longer wedgelets, and a slightly altered colour scheme to better match the character it's based on.

This completes my Arena Champions 2 lineup: it'll be joining its sister bot Graf Eisen, the champion Octane B-Spec, and LadyKiller.

That's beautiful, Super, I love it.

I'm a bit burned out from Ludum Dare (plus I have work to do for AC2 and DM5) so idk when my next build for this will be. Soon, hopefully.

F1, love the Absolute Zero rebuild. Some concerns might be the battery life when batteries take damage. But I gotta love the front wedge shape!
It's got three motors and enough battery to power four, I think I have enough spare. And thanks! Gotta see if I can take a picture of the HW and MW versions together for comparison.

I put way too much effort into this, but here you go, my Day 4 entry!

Day 4 - Sub-Zero.png

Having finally rebuilt Absolute Zero not too long ago, its kid brother now gets the same treatment. I feel a bit bad about swapping the custom-skinned Mini Minion Disc for a meta device two small Typhoons, but early testing suggests this thing is pretty strong now (and pretty fast!)

Ludum Dare 45 kicks off in ten minutes so I'll see you guys on Monday, keep building in my stead! DON'T LET THE FLAME DIE OUT

Just a heads-up that due to a combination of factors, I'll be skipping today and also Saturday and Sunday. I can do tomorrow (Freeze) though, as I have an old friend in need of a rebuild that fits the theme quite nicely.

Not as proud of this as I was of Zircon, as it's kind of a rush job, but I got my Day 2 bot done regardless!

Day 2 - Berserker.png

It's a (very underweight) hammer that loses control when it swings and starts flailing about. Like it's attacking in a mindless rage, get it? It takes heavy inspiration from my old bot Valkyri3, but is an entirely new robot built from scratch.

Tomorrow's gonna be fun...

Here we go, not my best work (because my skinning is absolutely horrendous) but it's a robot
[ Quoting of attachment images from other messages is not allowed ]

tbh you deserve extra credit just for not making a spinner like the rest of us

Hopefully Day 2 ("Mindless") throws up some more varied designs.

Right, how's this for a ring spinner?

Day 1 - Zircon.png

I've wanted to build a HS with this kinda chassis shape for ages. The idea was to make it look like one of those rings you see in cartoons where the diamond is comically oversized. Unfortunately, the teeth very slightly clip through the Perm... ah well, such is life. Something to fix after the month is over.

Let's keep the bots coming!
