A third version of Zealot. Big changes. Overall smaller and cleaner. Where the old one was the size of the international space station this one is a more reasonable size. Drum is now powered by a hubmotor etek rather than the ugly dual perm 80s of the old one. Also uses beaters now instead of typhoons. New wedge setup too that's gonna be really sh**ty at wedging but looks infinitely better than when I tried to give it wedgelets, and lastly a lil panel skin at the back. Pretty happy with it I think it's a big improvement over the old one.

you need to have the wheels contained inside of the chassis, right now how you have it set up the wheels are way wider than the chassis, so theres no way the ring of the spinner would even be able to contact the actual chassis lol
sick ass ms paint drawing of what i mean
(Image removed from quote.)
So as long as the chassis has a makeshift "mounting point" for the ring to sit on, it's good then?

if want to make mauler, just have the top and sides spinning around a chassis. dont need to cut through anything.
But...I want Mauler to be an INVERTIBLE ring spinner. Being flipped over is Mauler's biggest weakness. The wheels beed to pop out on top so he can drive on either side.

that would make it not mauler then, considering its spins up to try self right like a lot of bots in RA2
It doesn't have to be an exact rep?

I still think it looks like something from 2016

Not a bad start for a first showcased bot. I feel like you're gonna struggle for reach a fair bit with the bar being that high up and relatively short, though I guess that's kinda a limitation imposed by your use of a dual perm..

I'm guessing you're going for a realistic build style from looking at it, and you've largely done a good job. No cardinal sins like clipping internals that I can see. I do somewhat question the placement of the srimech as if you activate it when the bar is spinning it will cut straight through it, but that's a relatively minor gripe on a first bot.

One thing you should know though is that if you're planning on entering tournaments, the majority of IRL build style tournaments place limitations on the use of cheatbot2 parts, so you may have to swap out your weapon bar to something else instead of the hworf blades. Additionally, most realistic tournaments are using the  2.4 version of DSL now, rather than 2.2. The link to it is available on the front page.

All in all though a good start. Hope to see you continuing to showcase and making progress!  :thumbup

this is a supremely bad idea

flamethrowers cannot break other robot's parts off and can't KO chassis, meaning this tournament is going to basically be weaponless boxes smacking into eachother repeatedly with the loser being worn out due to flamethrower damage to the motors slowing the robot to a crawl.

the only way this will work is if you make it a Flamethrower Hybrid tournament where robots must use flamethrowers alongside a second weapon type, with a strict weight limit on how much weaponry the second system can have (75-100kg maybe?)
Well due to the comments of certain people I think this is the way to go

How in the **** did you need people to tell you that a pure flamethrower comp was a bad idea. Jesus christ you're a rock
I want to try something new
All there is on GTM is the same tournament under a different name
There's doing a gimmick properly (Colour Clash, Chassis Swap-Up) and then there's banning all active weapons because uNiQuE.

A tournament being unique doesn't make it good. Some ideas aren't done because they're terrible ideas

A tournament with no active weapons sounds about as exciting as pulling teeth.
Because it's not another IRL tournament with the exact same rules?
This is a themed tournament dude, if you don't want to join in you don't need to
Because watching weaponless boxes bump into each other for 3 minutes with no chance of a KO unless the AI ****s up and one of the bots drives down the pit isn't entertaining?

A lot of tournaments do the exact opposite of banning active weapons for a reason

So this is basically just the same as like 80% of other IRL tournaments in terms of rules right?

Are bots that were made underweight by the crash patch that are yet to be built back up to the limit allowed?
That's just an underweight bot. Why would it not be allowed?

looks underpowered.
It's an LW with a very light flipper panel? It's not like the actual Emergency launches bots into the ceiling either.

Unless you're referring to the batts I really don't get this comment

I swear you never showed off Eye of the Storm before? Is it new? It's absolutely fantastic. One of the best verts I've seen

Same as last time. Still very much interested, but don't play every day. Interest isn't waning either though, it's been at a pretty consistent level for the past like 2 years now. I play when I have ideas or when there's a tournament that takes my fancy, but I'm not forcing myself to play every day like I was in 2017/2018

though considering this is irl you're not gonna WBP with that anyways, except maybe against a flipper, so you could consider going weaponless.
Literally no IRL tournaments in the past 5 years, other than ones hosted by Wen, use win by points

Probably the last in the line of weird ass nondescript amphibian themed clamps I've built over the past 3 years. Dual TWMR2 drive so not particularly quick, small VDMA for the clamp and a Vsmall VDMA for the srimech. I wonder if this thing will be appearing in any tournaments in the near future  :really_makes_you_think:

it works and i got people testing

also, while the parts are heavier, i have reduced the weight of motors, and battereis by a fairly decent amount to compensate. most bfe heavy extender bots are still going to be either under the weight limit, or only slightly over (unless you build like robo)
Even if you do build like me you can get your bots in weight.

Depends what you mean by backwards compatibility. If you mean 'bots from the current version will physically not work in the new version and you'll have to start from scratch', then I'd be opposed to it, but if it's just some lightening or component swapping then I don't see the issue with that
