Felt like building a britflipper so I did. It's even blue!

Was hoping for it to come out a lil more unique looking based on what I had planned, but it does still have some interesting touches, and I'm pretty happy with the execution too.

4 TWMR2 drive and 2 medium VDMAs for the flipper, and plenty of steel up front. Pretty standard stuff in that respect.

Entry for Botbuster's classic era tournament. I wanted to capture the vibes of a kinda stocky, tanky-looking axe/hammer like the RW S5/6 versions of X-Terminator while still putting my own twist on it. Pretty happy with the results.

It's very underweight and underweaponed by normal tournament standards, but I feel like that fits the classic vibe somewhat.

I also threw together a little RW battleboard for it for a laugh.

Rebuild from scratch + recolour of an old bot of mine (hence the blue and black, though I did swap to neon from dark blue  :gunz:)

Pretty pleased with the panelwork on this one, was able to get everything to mesh just about seamlessly. 2 VDMA front hinges for the flipper, and 2 TWMR2s + 2TWMRs for drive.

Rear could probably be a bit cleaner, but I was constrained on weight and figured it was better to cut the corners there than compromise the seamless look elsewhere

Should be very usable in tournaments, so expect to see it cropping up at some point.

New bot. I'd been wanting to try a US-style flipper using the T-Minus arms for a while, in the hopes that they'd let me make one without having the arm be ridiculously heavy and weak. It sorta worked but probably not as well as I'd hoped tbh.

The odd shading on the skinned T-Minus arms only appears in the botlab. I suspect I could get rid of it entirely by messing with reflection settings in the .gmf, but I can't be arsed with that for now.

Finished a rebuild of an old drum of mine which a few people had requested be brought back, and accomplished pretty much everything I set out to with it. Pretty pleased

- Much cleaner,
- Dropped down to be within the HW limit (the old one was ~950kg in current DSL due to my old inefficient building techniques)
- 4WD (2 TWMR2s, 2 TWMRs)
- 48V 4mag for the drum in place of the old un-overvolted etek
- VSmall VDMA for the srimech
- Panel wedge instead of wedgelets

New vert. Pretty happy with how it came out visually, but it could frankly really do with a dedicated srimech. I may have another tinker but I'm short on both space and weight.

Colour scheme is nicked from some McLaren F1 cars from previous years

Another hammer. This time a CW one.

Had been wanting to expand my CW roster with some bots that weren't flippers, so I built this. Probably won't be competitive, but I'm pretty happy with the panelwork I got into the CW limit

599.9KG, 2WD TWMR2s, 1x medium VDMA for the hammer.

And here is the aforementioned bot for Botbuster's team tournament...

Pretty damn happy with it in terms of both visuals and performance, though it remains to be seen how it will do in actual tournament combat rather than just testing.

I've included some shots of it in the arena because I think the splash makes it look oddly tall for some reason, which it definitely isn't as can be seen from the arena shots. Hoping it does well.

Another update to one of my two token MWs since someone's running an all weightclasses tournament. Actually pretty chuffed with the state of it now, as it's way less rough around the edges than previous versions, and very close to the HW version visually.

Wedge is unfortunately still a bit sh**, even though this one has a proper skirt hinge panel wedge. More batts than previous ones and just all around better otherwise.

Also got another bot built which I'm very happy with, but it's for a team tournament so you'll just have to wait to see that one...

In my ongoing quest to update my older bots I also did some work on Cacophony. First I took a little bit of height off the bot which I think makes it look more proportional. Then I gave it a heavier and harder-hitting disc with two large flat teeth. Lastly and probably most importantly I gave it a proper panel wedge so it can actually play the ground game. The hope is that this thing will absolutely eat wedges if it works as planned.

The shape of this bot gives me wacky classic rw vibes and I love it lol. Only thing I can't get behind is the drums on the back. Maybe if there was a domed shape or something to cap the ends of the drums it would look a little better but atm it just looks off. Otherwise really solid bot per usual, I'm interested to see how the weapon supports deflect spinners in a match.

I've updated it to remove the drums by making the back section less steeply sloped. I've also swapped to the srimech version as the main one. The white extenders are a front-hinged srimech which gets it back over nice and reliably. It's powered by a slow mag snapper. Lastly I did a basic lil panel skin just showing the bot name, and added an extra batt to be safe now that the srimech is being relied upon. Think it's a solid improvement overall

Got some more free time now that uni work and other commitments are out of the way so I got to work on a new bot.

Wanted to do a sorta hybrid between a reachvert and a regular wedged vert and this is the result.

It's actually rather small but packs a lot in. 4WD (2 TWMR2s, 2 TWMRs) for reasonable mobility, and then there's two versions in terms of weapons. One has a 72V weapon motor and self rights by reversing it, the other has a 48V weapon motor and a dedicated srimech (though it's not super reliable so main focus is on the 72V one)

New bot after a fair old stint of not building due to uni and other commitments. Decided I wanted to use tracks for the first time in literally like 4 years. It's relatively basic, but I hope it should be fairly competitive with a 72V 4mag on the drum and a nice stable platform thanks to the treads. Also had this visual theme of following the design language of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum in mind for some time, and thought it worked fairly well with this design.

Bit of housekeeping. I've been writing my dissertation so haven't really had time for totally new bots at the moment, but I have done some work on old ones, as I'm planning on hosting a little personal tournament for fun and to learn some basic editing + tourney running skills. In order to do so I've been updating old bots to make them look better, be more viable and just generally be better. Here are four of them.

First one, and probably the most significant as it's one of my core bots and maybe the bot I'm best known for these days. Claymore now has 4 wheel drive. It's only 2 NPC fasts + 2 TWMRs so it's still not exactly a rocket, but the main boons of this change have been that it can actually turn now, and also the extra burst of speed allows it to follow up its own flips and keep control of the opponent much better. Actual visual changes are relatively minor, but I did clean it up a bit, and also I had to ditch the skirts in order to make weight for the new drive motors, which seems to have worked out fine from testing and has also made the bot look nicer. Was also a real feat to get the extra drive motors and batts in there without clipping or affecting the looks of the bot negatively at all. Look out for this one in tournaments.

Claymore Ext 7.png

Next up is Crescendo. I've always liked this bot so gave it a bit of love, mainly in the form of a total rear-end rebuild, much better wedge, and grippier wheels so it can actually...kinda...move.

Crescendo III Ext.png

Then there's Mistral. A few things always irked me about this one. One was the weapon supports which I always thought looked really clunky. I was able to clean them up a bunch here and I think they look much better. The other was weapon power, and I was able to solve this one by building smarter which let me make weight for a much more powerful weapon motor (48V 4mag vs the old unovervolted perm), as well as a much heavier disc which can actually punt nicely and self right the bot way more efficiently than before. Also skinned up a disc cover for it which completes the look.

Mistral II GTM Ext.png

Lastly there's a recent one, and this is purely a functionality update because visually I largely think it looks worse (though only slightly). I was really happy with Obelisk looks wise, but that steep flipper just could not get under anything. This version has a shallower one which helps hugely with that, and I also decided to give the flipper a bit more of an ornate design which I do think looks nicer. Maybe I'll do a "best of both worlds" version at some point.

I love sublimate, very clean panelwork (as we all expect from a robo bot) and the overall shape is neat

Many thanks

I've made an alternate 2WD version for the Draft Day tournament as 1 car batt was nowhere near enough for 4 spin motors and a burst, and there's no chance I was getting another one in there. It frankly probably still isn't enough but hopefully as long as hammer usage isn't constant it should go the full 3 mins most of the time. The 4WD version has been updated with normal batts and will still be the version seen in every other tournament I use this thing in.

My entry into 8Bean's draft day tournament. During the drafting process I was largely able to get the components I wanted, though I got stuck with car batts for the batteries. Didn't think it would be too big of an issue at the time, but man are they restrictive when you've gotta have room for a burst running through the centre of the bot (I settled on a hammer early on) and drive motors too. I'll be making a version with normal batts for other comps as I was only able to fit 1 car batt and hence it's underpowered and probably won't make it the full 3 mins.

Nonetheless I'm hoping that the durability (the front is built like an absolute brick sh**house) will win it some matches, as the tournament seems HS-heavy so far, so hopefully this will be something of a foil to them.

I also made some updates to some older bots to clean them up a little and also give them panel wedges since they're getting more and more mandatory now other people have cottoned on to them. Expect to see these in tournies from time to time

Another flipper. HW this time and a rear hinge. Came in with a vague idea but migrated away from it fairly quickly towards this, which I'm pretty happy with. 4WD with 2 TWMR2s and 2 TWMRs and 2 medium VDMAs for the flipper, so pretty standard for one of my rear hinges these days. Steel near enough everywhere and I still have some weight to play with too.

Reworked this old ass CW of mine as I realised my CW roster is super shallow, and Shrike just ain't cutting it. Few rough edges but I redid probably 90% of the bot and I'm pretty happy with the level of complexity and cleanness on the panelwork that I got within the CW limit. Storm burst for the flipper and 2 TWMR2 drive. If Koi's tournament opens third entries for CWs you'll be seeing this there, but if not it'll probably crop up in any future CW tournies that happen.

The croc is back with a slighty revised version! Juggergnawt has probably been my most consistent Gnaws-bot to date and while I have been tempted to make a new 2WD one...why fix what isn't broken right?

That being said, as the splash shows I have fixed a few issues that have been bugging me and I feel this looks a lot better than it did before!

Looking lovely. Your themeing is always on point.

What voltage is the weapon motor? I have two concerrns about the facelift. One is self righting, but if you've got a 72V weapon motor you'll probably be alright (definitely worth a test though)

The other is how far the weapon teeth are from the ground. I feel like you may struggle to get a good bite on stuff with shallow wedges even if you manage to get under them, though again I could be wrong. Will be a case of testing it to see.
