funny.. just a few minutes before i saw this thread my girlfriends sister and I talked about this.
I just came from rock im park wich had Metallica, Iron Maiden, Kings of Leon and Linkin Park as headliners. Also I saw Seether,Crazy Town, nine Inch Nails, Slayer,  Of Mice and Men, Trivium, Heaven Shall Burn etc.

Would like to go to DLF one day.
Metallica, Iron Maiden, Linkin Park and Seether are all awesome.

Rammstein are the most incredible live band and most people would agree :L
I know, one of my favourite bands in general but they put on an excellent performance live.

With 2 day tickets wouldn't it be just as expensive to buy a full weekend ticket? Anyway this year is pretty mediocre. If I had money I'd be doing Sonisphere despite having seen Metallica and Maiden before. Deftones, Prodigy etc make that a nice lookin' lineup to me. But I don't think anything will ever top Soni 2011 for me. Dat Saturday with Biffy and Weezer mmmmm.
I have things to do on Saturday and, besides, I have Friday free because my mate had to bail on his mates and decided to give me his ticket. Anyway, I like the bands that are on this year but I will say that nothing will top the Rammstein headline from last year, those Germans are beast.

Tournament Archives / My Tournament Ideas
« on: June 11, 2014, 01:13:00 PM »
After my first tournament, I said that I would think about some more tournament ideas and try and keep them original. Bare in mind that I haven't been here long, so if some of these ideas have already been used, don't hold it against me. Here are the ideas I have come up with so far:

New Blood Tournament - Based off the Robot Wars Extreme 2 Series, people who have only just joined the forum or are a lightweight or less can join. I think this may be a good idea because it gives new builders a good place to start off but not many people may join because it's aimed towards newcomers.

Teacher and Student - Similar to the New Blood Tournament, lightweights and below are randomly teamed up with other members of the forum. Another good way to break the new guys in.

All Stars Tournament - I'm going to need to be quite lucky to make this one work but, the only people who can join this tournament are people who have been assigned a class specifically (such as Refbot, Advanced User or simply a respected member of the community, etc.) and they have to use a bot that resembles or is a robot that they have used before in a tournament.

England vs Rest of the World - Based off the Soccer (football) Aid matches, this concept is as simple as it sounds. An equal amount of participants from England and anywhere else in one tournament. The tournament will work as any normal tournament would but this is adding a twist on things a little.

Annihilator - 4 4-way matches. These matches will stop when one robot is eliminated and then that bot will be removed, the match will start again with 3 bots and so on and so forth until a winner is declared. 4-way final annihilator at the end to determine the champion.

These are my tournament ideas for now and I may add/remove some in the future. Tell me what you think about them by giving me your opinion on them.

*Update* By the way (considering I forgot to add an end date), this poll will be down near the end of the month because I want to start my new tournament at/before the start of July.
*Update 2* Considering I always want to know what to do next, as soon as I start Father and Son 2 and I'm completely finished with No Holds Barred, I will add more ideas to this list.
*Update 3* Added some new ideas. Also, don't take any of these ideas for yourself (unless granted permission) and weight classes and versions of RA2 will be unspecified until a tournament is chosen. Then I'll ask what people want it to be.

You should really do the AIs yourself.
It shouldn't matter that much, imo.

yug1tom is a trooper for offering to AI - really you should do that yourself if it's your tournament.
I think it's fine if you want to host a tournament but the only thing setting you back is your AI skills. I don't mind doing it. I have done it in my tournament and dezox's replica cup already so I'm alright doing it here.

Niscan is correct. It's very rare that we get members like you these days. But anyway, thanks for the tournament and I'll speak to you later.
I'm glad I made such a good first impression.

Wow, I can't believe the hype for my next tournament.

so whats your next idea for a tournament
im looking forward to it
you are a great tournament host (obvious biast)
love to see more from you
Something original again, hopefully. I don't like all these tournaments with fancy names because they just end up being your average run-of-the-mill stock middleweight tournament or something. For my first tournament, I decided to do a Father and Son idea because it was fun... and that's what my main focus is... making my tournaments fun! I will be brainstorming a lot of ideas until the end of the month and then I'll come out with my tournament. Hopefully, the next one will be significantly better than this one was.

Thank you everyone who made this tournament a success, I had lots of fun and hopefully you enjoyed the bot destruction as much as I did.

Excellent tournament man, I really have nothing to say. I'm excited for your next one.
Thanks, dude. I'm gonna wait a little between tournaments but I'll be sure to make the next one as fun as this one was.

Tournament Archives / Father and Son Tournament - Awards
« on: June 03, 2014, 03:33:09 PM »
The tournament's over now and I've gotta thank all the participants for the great robots. The awards are as follows:

Most destructive team - Hurricane + Twister (RedAce)
Most alike team - (Joint winners) Snugglebot + Son of Snugglebot (El Chickenado) & Atom + Molecule (Elementos)
Most original entry - Snugglebot + Son of Snugglebot (El Chickenado)
Best design - VDX-MK2 + VDX-MINI (TommyProductionInc) (He won this by popular opinion)
Most unlucky team - Dexterity + Dexterity Lite (helloface199) (Simply because of your potential and then you end up against the soon-to-be champs)
Most favoured team - VDX-MK2 + VDX-MINI (TommyProductionsInc)
Funniest team - WACK! + THWACK! (090901) (You know why...)

'Destructive' means how many pieces of robot were on the floor due to their weapons.
'Most unlucky' refers to who they got paired up with in the starting round and what happened during their match(es).
'Most favoured' is chosen by the poll results from the SBV thread on who people thought would win.
'Funniest team' is the team that gave us a good laugh in the competition.

Honourable mentions to everyone that took part:
[1] El Chickenado w/ Snugglebot Evo + Son of Sungglebot
[2] nicsan2009 w/ I Didn't Do It + Maybe I Did
[3] RedAce w/ Hurricane + Twister
[4] Mouldy King Bash w/ Acid Thunder + Acid Cloud
[5-8] Elementos w/ Atom + Molecule
[5-8] TommyProductionsInc w/ VDX-MK2 + VDX-MINI
[5-8] 090901 w/ THWACK! + WACK!
[5-8] helloface199 w/ Dexterity Lite + Daddy Dexterity

For future tournaments of mine, you will all be given seeds if you choose to enter the next one. Seeds are the numbers to the left of the bots above.
