...NPCs will ruin the look of the bot.
How so? Looks to me like he has room in there for a couple of NPC left/right fasts. Just two with hypnos will be faster than the drive system currently in place. It's not like the wheels are even visible when the bot is right side up, if NPCs do fit it will look identical.

I signed up, I didn't get an email like some other people have.
If you signed up after you saw people had got an email you probably won't get one. I haven't either, because I signed up after it was sent, as did Natef earlier.

I really like this spinner, the frame fits together really nicely, especially for DSL2 and not 3.

On the previous bot, I think the design is very cool but I feel the skin lacks a consistent enough theme. I think it would be better if you stuck with either the blue all the way around, or removed the pink at the top and replaced that and the metal front with a more HD metal texture, maybe with a blue paint/medical decal overlay on top. What program are you using, btw?

I really like the new Venum 2. Small thing, but those spikes on the end of the extenders just add so much to the appearance, very cool stuff dude.

Cavalry's not bad, but I feel like it would look better if the flippers started a bit further back on the chassis (about at the edge of the second set of wheels maybe). Some side wheelguards and a cool skin would go a long way too. Otherwise, pretty cool.

Bot is cool, extender cage is really nice. Skin is kinda dull though.
To improve it, you could copy the black sections of the skin and keep them separate. Then change the simple grey to a grey metal texture, and then put the black parts back, but as an overlay on top. If the black doesn't stand out enough this way you can either play around with the contrast and brightness of the metal texture or duplicate the black text + edges overlay layer, and change the opacity of the top text layer until it looks about right.
This is all assuming you're using paint.net, though. If not, why not? :P

Ruination was made by Lemon?
Yup. There's a very similar robot in my showcase, except with a spinning bar instead of ramming spikes. I don't remember which came first though.

Nice man. You should totally make a skinning tutorial for us so we can see how you make those awesome skins, or maybe that's just me.
Thanks :)
I was considering making a skinning tutorial when I get some free time over the summer, so if there's any demand for it I'll go ahead and do that.

Really not liking my chances here, but again hopefully whatever matchup I get it'll make for an exciting match.
This has been such a great tournament throughout though, you've done an amazing job :)

Brutimus looks pretty interesting. Not sure I like the srimech arms on the back, I think they would look better if they were not so raised up at the base. Otherwise, it looks pretty good to me.

Vertigod also looks cool, although plows would indeed make it even better, if you can manage to fit them somehow. Vertigod is an awesome name too, I wish I'd thought of that...

The way you're all talking would suggest you'd prefer an old machine to a new one. Really?
Well, Robot Wars was a huge part of my childhood, and I think that's true with many people here. If I were offered the choice between Gravity (which I have good memories of) and Hades (which I have only just seen) I would pick Gravity, no question.
It's not that I would prefer to have a less powerful/less advanced robot, it's that I would prefer a robot I remembered fondly, and is like a part of my childhood, for lack of better words.
But obviously that decision is not up to me, and I understand why not all of the old robots can be included, and that's fine. I love the new robots as well as the old ones, Dystopia is one of my favourite robots alongside Chaos 2, for example. But I also understand why people would be unhappy that the robots they remember won't be present.

Love how smoothly the flippermakers at the front and back fit, and the chassis shape + overall design.

As far as cleaning it up goes, I would remove the lightning spikes on the underside of the flipper, and the middle flipper arm. Otherwise I think it's pretty clean, and I really like the robot.

It's really not hard to add any missing arenas back in, it's not like removing them from the mod means deleting them from time and space. I have no idea why anyone thinks it's such a big deal, just be happy that we're getting some new arenas.

It's not bad, but I reckon the skin would be nicer if the decal on the side wasn't so bright white, it looks a bit out of place to me. Maybe you could change the colour, or add it as a slightly transparent overlay instead?
Also, more so with the original one but slightly with this one, the decals look like they're at a higher resolution than the rest of the texture, which looks a little odd to my eye.

That reskinned Judge bot is really awesome though.

If Gabriel is doing all the development and WD are just the publisher then I don't think the quality of WD's games is anything to be concerned about. That doesn't mean I'm not concerned about the quality of the game, however.
GTM has pretty much been a source for ideas and feedback on a new game for as long as it's existed, so with any luck they'll use some of that when they make the new one, especially since they know we exist. If not then, hey, we still have RA2 to play if it turns out really badly. I'm going to stay optimistic, and just hope for the best.

Modifications / Re: BattleBots 2014 Mod/AI Pack
« on: May 10, 2015, 03:07:50 PM »
Installed, and all seems to be working well.

So far the only issue I really have with the pack is that the components for the robots aren't hidden in the botlab, so the botlab gets a bit cluttered. If you could put them as cheatbot2 components that would be awesome.
Some of the skins could be a bit more HD as well, but that might just be my preference. Either way, I'll have a go at polishing some of them up, and if I do any well enough I'll send those your way as well.

I actually have started on making AI for some of them, I'll send you the ones I do when I've finished them all.

Overall, I'm having fun with it so far. I combined it with Wham's Robot Wars pack, which makes for some good battles :)

Wait, do we use DSL 2.1 for this or DSL 3? Or do we combine the two like last time?
You combine them.
Eep, I have not been paying attention. What do I paste over what? I'm assuming I start with DSL2, paste DSL3 over that, and then the battlebots stuff over that?
Some installation instructions wouldn't go amiss in future, to prevent idiots like me breaking things :P

As far as I'm aware no-one has made a pack with only flippers to download.
Assuming you mean DSL 2.1 and not 3, if you're looking for IRL style designs Live Designs has some good flippers in it. Here's a link: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=10632.0
Keep in mind you'll need to do some messing around to get one or two of the bots to work, but this should be explained by the ReadMe file Badnik provided. Also, since this is a full AI pack, I'd recommend getting a clean copy of DSL2.1 and installing the pack over that.

Sorry if this has already been answered/made obvious, but will my bots from DSL2.1 be compatible with this already, or will I have to make any changes to them to allow them to work?
Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing this released.

Custom Components Showcase / Re: Pay Tribute With Replicas

The Witch.  The crease in the hat is made from a drillbit from the Darkpack, and the body is made from the "domes" discs.  So, it's actually pretty protected from spinners and the like, but pretty easily flipped.

(Image removed from quote.)
Can't believe I missed this one, seeing it gives me real nostalgia. Fantastic work here man.
Black Widow is very cool too. What components are those disk-things on the front originally? They look hex plate size, but I'm not sure.
