I'll PM you then, just so I don't spam this thread any more.

This is just a rusted metal texture taken from google images with some green semi-transparent pentagons over the top, with some distortion effects applied in Paint.Net.
Jebus crust that sounds complicated, but I guess I could try it
It really isn't complicated, honest :P
Do you have Paint.Net? If you do I can tell you what I did step by step, but I wouldn't be any use with other programs.

263
That's much better, certainly, but I think it could be improved slightly. The weapon slot is very nicely lined up and the whole skin is better to fit the theme of the robot, but the green areas could be improved.
Here's a picture to show what I had in mind:

Need skinning ideas halp

Like what themes etc
You called it Tuberculosis, so maybe use a rusted metal texture, with maybe some green overlayed for a decay + diseased design?
You can make good skins in the botlab, but you have a lot less freedom and can only work with a low resolution. I make my skins in Paint.Net and it works really nicely.

265
Not too shabby, I like it. Needs a nicer skin, because the fire + red decals don't really add to the theme of the bot imo, but otherwise cool.

Regardless of splash, the bot looks good. Is it effective? I don't know how many tough those hinges/flails are in Ironforge, but they look like they might be a little vulnerable, but there isn't much you could do about that I guess.

I'm fairly sure that Mortis is in the mod already.
If you're talking about the official Robot Wars mod, I don't see Mortis on the list of teams/robots on the first post. I don't know if that is a complete list, though.

bump

hey my f2 camera isn't working anymore it's doing this weird thing where it looks at the back of the robot like normal but then like stays in place while the robot drives out of view
anyone know what the deal is here?
I get this too, no idea what the problem is.

Congrats TBD!
I can't deny your bot was far cooler than mine, I was pretty stuck for ideas and put a disproportionate amount of time into the splash as a result.

It's still Halloween, just about, so here's a new robot: Swamp Spawn

Closer view of teeth and eye:

Unintentionally cloned my own robot slightly... but I think I worked hard enough on the skin to make it a unique robot.

Looks really nice to me, shame about the drive issues. No idea what might be doing that.

Oh, did you pick up the fixed firestorm flipper I did? If not I can re-send it.

273
Sure, I'll work on it and see if I can get it working myself for you.

274
Okay, can you give me a step by step of what you've done?
From what I can tell you've made a new folder, renamed the map files, and that's it. Is that right?

275
Again, Clickbeetle's tutorial has everything you need. Ironically you actually posted it when you asked your earlier question, but just so it's here I was referring to this:
http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/modding.htm
Basically if you want to make a new component you'll want to make a new folder for it, a new text file for it, and you'll need to rename the map part of the .gmf so that the game doesn't get confused. This is all covered by Click's tutorial, just follow the bit about creating a new lightning blade thing, but obviously substitute the ram plate for the beta burst and don't do any of the editing the shape of the component.
If you have any trouble with it feel free to pm me about it to save creating a new thread.

Have you read the component making tutorial on the beetlebros website? That covers everything here and more.

Completed the most powerful flipper in the game last night... It's absolutely insane, I had to add an extra control for a low pressure self righting so Iron Awe 7 doesn't flip itself out of the arena!
So you have it controlling the power of the flipper? I'm very interested in how that works. I guess I'll find out when this gets released.

Iron Awe 7 is cool, and I really love the 2008-2012 Beast. So glad it's being included, it's one of my favourite robots.

Ooooh very nice. Does the bar wobble at all or is the weapon motor attached to an ME?
I actually expected it to wobble, but it doesn't, or not noticeably anyway. I think that might be because the skirt hinge is such a low powered burst, but I don't really know.

There's a guy in England with a robot pretty similar to mine, his is called Mecha Sombra and has decals of Sombra's eyes on top. He's now planning a flipper called Eclipse with Luna stuff on it.

Pls post pics
I googled it and got this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OpDrpUyySs&channel=ZondaFRoadster#

Added a back panel to the dustpan, but I couldn't get any side armour looking nice, unfortunately.

Anyway, new robot. From ice on to fire:

Back with logo:

Wanted to try an angled spinner design. Unfortunately that skirt hinge still shows up during battles and really annoys me. If anyone knows how to turn it off (since alwaysvisible = false in the .txt didn't work) please tell me.
Robot also uses fixed tornado wedge.
