so, with the general lack of interest from the GTM side of things and RACCOON rules confusing me more and more every time i see a china robot sent my way to the point where i was genuinly wondering what they actually considered bannable, i'm considering doing the following;
-rebooting this thing entirely, still with the RACCOON mod, but with more "GTM-friendly" rules, in the hope that GTM builders actually start entering and this doesn't become just "RACCOON 5 but it's on GTM because yes"
anyone having any objections to this ?

only concern i got, as i pointed out on discord, is that if people don't host stock/IF-S a decent number of times the "season finale" for those metas will either be a 1v1 or straight up impossible, superbomb's idea could alleviate the problem
another take on superbomb's idea would be a "People's Champion" award, if people really think a bot that didn't win should get throught to the end stage, it could obtain this award and have a free pass to the season finale, would be handy for bots that lost to a really BS way and probably would have won the whole thing otherwise

180 days message again lul, oh well, felt like building stock, so i built stock rebuilt my old sh**ty LW from GTMCS 2, at least this one can ****ing drive, may look into finding a setup where i can make the spinner closer to the center, and point the maces down to deal with popups better HW popup, 10 razors, 2 blacks, DDT wedges, tried to make a popup with a somewhat cool looking chassis shape, you tell me if i succeeded, a bit concerned over the exposed DDTs tho

Some entries were recieved:
Rebel Soul: rejected for Perm and NPCS clipping and spinner clipping into motor Alter Chan: rejected for spinners clipping into motor NUKE: accepted
btw, should i do a Fresh Metal and include screencaps of the rejected bots ?

potentially what you can do, is have a small selection of components, but each component has several visual models with the same hitbox, that way, you have an easier time balancing it cause there's still factually 20 or so components (random number obviously), but since each component has several "skins" you have variety for making cool looking stuff

RA2's main issue, strictly as a game, is how ****ing boring everything has gotten, the efficiency oriented metas all have been explored to their breaking point, and no-one can be assed anymore to try making an alternate environment for it to try to make it interesting again (something like using unorthodox arenas like Mars Base, or having some odd requirement/restriction like Scrapheap Challenge for examples), and IRL's entire existence is a conflict of interest, because on one end you wanna make something cool cause that's the point of the IRL style of building, and on the other hand the entire tournament side of things is just "okay, from this roster, who is the biggest scum who abused how busted RA2 is the most ?"
Parsec was kinda cool for a bit cause it was new and cause online fights's always gonna be better than a braindead AI, but even then you still can't avoid all the problems IRL has relying on a busted af 16 year old game to realistically simulate things
the reason why i was so interested in RACCOON, is tying into the point i'm making, it was a new and different take on IRL from what we do here, it wasn't the same IRL that has flooded tournaments since years now
TL:DR try to make something different so stuff isn't the same boring and stale af things we see over and over and over

so... if anyone remembers the RACCOON community, i've been asked by Moonset to see if anyone would be willing to host an event on GTM using RACCOON's modded DSL version to see what would happen, and i decided to do it myself This tourney is therefore going to use the RACCOON DSL mod as well as the RACCOON ruleset Guidelines The robots should be viable in real life. You can use RA2CF. Hold on, this isn’t exactly GTM IRL, but you may find some rules familiar.
Viability in Detail Except for robots with weapon shafts that are inside their chassis, all spinners have to have realistic weapon mounts. Reinforced Perm counts as weapon mount. Flipper arms also need to have realistic appearance. Spinning objects cannot intersect. IRL style weapon mount rules except looser. “Flipper arms also need to have realistic appearance.” basically means you can’t make flipper arms out of skirts, but you can use skirts as wedges (see Biohazard). Overall, RACOON is more focused on functional similarity rather than appearance.
Banned Parts All cheatbot2 parts are banned. Motors cannot be used as armor. Motor armor refers to when a motor is directly attached to the chassis and therefore becomes indestructible and when said motor is sticking out/covering a portion of chassis that is usually hit. However, motors sticking out of the top (see Bite Force) is allowed.
Weapon/Robot Types Only the original builder can modify robots from the past tournaments and re-enter them for future tournaments. If two or more robots from the same builder are similar in wedge structure and position, weapon type, structure, position, size, and overall shape, then only one of said robots can compete. Don’t copy and paste.
Weight Limit Weight limit is 1000kg. Up to 0.4kg extra weight will be granted if robot contains LEDs.
Special Rules Modular Robots Modular robot refers to robots that have a fixed type of weapon and chassis (including drive system) and have interchangeable parts (such as wedge, armor, weapon shape and size). You can have up to 3 modules per robot. All robot files should be submitted together, with different names for differentiation. A module needs to be selected before a match.
Swiss Army Bots Swiss army bot refers to robots that have a fixed chassis (including drive system) and have interchangeable weapon types. All robot files should be submitted together, with different names for differentiation. A module needs to be selected before a match. Srsly what’s even the point of modular robots?
Special Case If two modular/swiss army robots are involved in one match, the competitors will PM me before the match about the modules and AIs used. Module selection will not be disclosed before the video release. However, conditional AI can be requested. Conditional AI is used when you don’t know what module your opponent will use and have different strategies for the modules your opponent has. Conditional AI is specified at the same time as module selection, and done by me right before the match. There’s no conditional module.
Robot Naming Robot name cannot be Enter Bot Name or bot1,2,3... Offensive names are not allowed. File names should be the same as the in-game robot name.
Format: 16 entrants (i will not enter) Double Elimination RACCOON Arena (basically weeb-ified League of Champions arena) Signups end on October 10th i'm just asking this, please take this seriously if you're going to enter, i will deny any blatant jokebots Current Entries Accepted: 1. Industry Strength - NUKE (have yet to recieve the normal wedge setup) Rejected: 1. Moonset - AlterChan (spinners clip into motors) 2. Zhang - Rebel Soul (weapon and drive motors clip, spinner clips into motor)

so, while the gyro is much more noticable and a good way of keeping stupid spinners from being too broken, i've noticed a lot more crashes during fights with various robots, i also had crashes in the test box from hitting the crate or wall too hard with some of my bigger spinners

pretty sure it's not that cause otherwise i'd notice the bot moving on it's own

if i gear the disc down, the "flashing" happens consistently on spinup, i wonder if for some reason the game can't keep applying the spinner physics continously so it flashes on and off

tried making a overhead spinner like MegatRON, but it led to results that are quite dissapointing, despite the E-tek, the spinner barely ever spins (50 RPM), but where it gets interesting, is after firing the "arm" a few times, the spinner starts glitching and it's RPM flashes from 0 to 30k RPM very rapidly

thanks, so the only thing i have to change for my other broken bots is to add more "rows" to the material and thickness plate arrays depending on the number of faces right ?
