Scyther: How could you not like scyther? Gives venasaur a run for its money for manly pokemon imo. Would be my all-time favorite if grovyle didn't exist.

scythe is a grass type ?
my life is a lie

seriously what the actual hell scyther has always been bug/grass for me

pretty close to my first ever bot- the original had the saw arm on a servo and eventually I plastered darkrat parts all over it

i'll just list my favorite grass types here

Venusaur : also known as Smugasaur. Manliest grass type, have you seen his swagger ?
Victreebel : I just like it, mostly due to heavy use on my part. It's a flycatcher. Also it devours stuff.
Parasect : it's a insect/fungi parasitoid, just for that reason. also it has some dope moves as a support party member.
Cacturne : I mostly like it for badass fluff and it's looks. Also i'm not too fond of dark types in general, with some exceptions such as Tyranitar, but Grass/Dark is a nice typing.
Cradily: A ROCK/Grass which makes it instantly more awesome. Also it has nice stalling potential, some good moves, and more importantly it's a crinoid, which gives him points to me.

i think chesnaught and torterra look pretty good as well. but i have zero experience with them so can't judge.
I was hoping you'd say blaziken so I could go "hurr durr anthropomorphic ninja chicken ur a furry" but whatever, fuqqit.

I'll post mine:

Grovyle: Not sceptile, because sceptile is just grovyle as a heroin addict- grovyle was my go-to dood for much of Emerald. Easily my favorite.
Scyther: How could you not like scyther? Gives venasaur a run for its money for manly pokemon imo. Would be my all-time favorite if grovyle didn't exist.
Serperior: yeah yeah, say what you want about this gen and this pokemon- Serperior has that scoff. Serperior looks down on every pokemon, even those larger than it. Serperior's got that "you aren't even worth fighting" attitude. Serperior seriously doesn't care what you think.
Venusaur: Somebody ordered a grass metagross?
Shiftry: Does a damn good job at trying to be as cool as grovyle.

honorable mentions: Cradily, for being unexpectedly tough, Trevenant, because I don't know much about it other than it's pretty awesome looking and both of Lotad's evolutions + Amoongus, because I wouldn't let a cool pokemon cast its shadow over a hilarious one.

Pray for Kalos
je suis starmie?

but really, pokemon is still pokemon regardless of generation. Some were more cutesy than others but having someone go nuts for vulpix is no more or less 'furry bs' than having someone go nuts for fennekin. I say that knowingly waving my grovyle and scyther flags.

vulpix is very much a non-antropomorphic fox. there's nothing wrong with foxes. Well, it IS based on a kitsune which is rather furry, but furries from mythology and legend get a pass in my books because they're nothing like the modern internet furry.

fennekin on the other hand is very much an anthropomorphic witch fox, with... oh wait that's braixen that I am talking about :P

I guess fennekin isn't furry, his evolutions however... Well, sorry. I'll stop there.

because derailing threads is a scourge on this galaxy

Name a favorite pokemon.

also, what is cheap norris?
it's a VS variation bot type-y sorta thing that Venko made that had it's stabilizers in such a way that you could easily hit it and it'd just spikeball everywhere

it was clever until the controlled movement rule showed up

I doubt a cheap norris will have been someone's first built bot.

huh.

I'm wondering if I should remake my very first bot, enter my first stock tournament bot or rebuild my first showcased bot...

those are in chronological order with probably half a year between each one, on that note

It's completely possible that he's looking to make a cel-shaded cartoon version of RA2 or something like that, but here you guys are just crapping all over it, making every excuse not to support whatever this guy wishes to do.

He could've been lurking for so long that he remembers the colors of the AU forums, but nah, y'all are so insistent on ruination.

Wen, if you're serious about this, buddy, mod your heart out.

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Deadgenocide's DSL Showcase of FML
« on: December 30, 2015, 04:52:55 PM »
I'd generally avoid showcasing bots like this that contain cheat and/or stock components (eg HP Z-Tek, RAD motors, DarkCells) as they just aren't balanced against any other bot (in fact, Stock components are generally weaker than DSL components).
And then the usual advice of unrealism and building to the weight limit applies here too :P
Actually, you could create a showcase for experimental/silly custom components in the custom components section.

On my previous statement- if you decide to abandon the idea of building for competition and just do whatever you want (which is perfectly okay), it should be understood that you won't get much traffic, unless you're building replicas or doing whatever Domanating or Classicus does.

I can't be asked to do Ironforge i'm sorry I can't be asked
What Ironforge is literally just rebalanced DSL

No it's not?
Ironforge is its own thing. I see it as a rebalancing on how we do robot building on the whole, for example, how we choose and use weapons. In stock, there are clear cut good weapons like maces, razors !, bear claws, whatever, and there are obviously bad weapons like razor blades and lawnmower blades. It's a similar case for DSL, there are some weapons that can be used for just about anything, and some that will never ever be used. In ironforge, you've got different sizes of different weapons for different situations, and none of them are particularly better or worse, simply situational.

That's just me, though.

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Deadgenocide's Showcase of FM
« on: December 29, 2015, 03:30:41 PM »
I try not to build unrealistic in DSL (mainly because I like IRL bot's) so I try not to but I can't do Ironforge I just can't.
With DSL, as far as I remember you've got dsl standard and IRL. Unrealistic building (aka parts that move cutting through parts that shouldn't move, like a wheel inside of batteries or a spinning bar cutting through control board or motors and stacking) is generally seen as 'wrong' as far as dsl goes, unless you're building some kind of artbot. Other than that, dsl standard is just stock with the realistic rule put in- you're still building to maximum efficiency, just without stacking, glitching, clipping, things of that nature.

IRL is that style of bot building that angers the efficiency-heads who came from precision, competitive building. The idea behind IRL is to try to make a bot look and function like how a bot IRL would look, hence IRL.

That being said, do whatever the heck you want. Some people go for building replicas of real bots (See: Sonny_Resetti, TommyProductionsINC), some people simply build cool looking stuff (See: Domanating, Enigma).
