Tournament Archives / Dynamic Duos - Signups
« on: September 03, 2014, 02:58:59 PM »

The main gimmick of this is that there will two bots per entrant, one MW and one LW. It'll be a tag team tournament where they will fight as like a hero and sidekick if you will. You can make any kind of duo from your own creativity or from one that represents something in a pair of two.

RULES:
- DSL-S MW and LW
- 16 Entrants
- 2 Bots per entrant (1 MW and 1 LW) is required to enter
- I'm willing to AI if you are not able to, but don't complain what I AI'd your bot (You can't change the AI after the signups close. If you want to AI, make sure you're happy with it.)
- You cannot enter unless your bots are received and accepted
- I will only accept entries via PM
- You cannot try to find any loopholes in the rules

BUILDING RULES:
- DSL-S MW (249.1 399.0) and LW (175.1-249.0) Only
- You cannot use BFE, AAM, Hax, txt file editing, etc.
- No cheatbot2 parts or custom components at all.
- Bots must have at least two wheels and show controlled movement
- Crawlers and Multibots are banned.
- Jokebots, replicas, IRL style bots are not allowed.
- You can update your bot as much as you please until signups end

BATTLE RULES:
- 2 vs 2 match format
- 3 minute length matches
- Double Elimination Bracket
- DSL Tournament Arena, hazards on (Reskinned)
- If one robot havoks once, costing the match that bot gets a free restart, If it happens again, that bot will be disqualified (Same rules apply If one bot loses for a dumb reason, like getting stuck or sitting in one place)
- Judging will determined by the damage points at the end of the match

Discussion / DSL Tourney Arena Starting Points Idea and Assistance
« on: August 28, 2014, 12:55:27 PM »
I really have no idea to put a thread like this into. If I'm posting this in the wrong place (which is very possible) can you please move this? Thanks.

Basically I'm trying to edit the DSL Tournament Arena so that start points are in a different location.

Right now, the start points for players 1 & 2 are at the far edge of the arena and players 3 & 4 are at the close edge of the arena.

What I wanted to do was edit the py or gmf file to move the start points around to something like this:

My idea was to edit the arena to have the start points for players 1 & 3 to start at the far edge and players 2 & 4 to start at the close edge of the arena.

What exactly do I have to edit in the py or gmf file in order to do this?

Help is appreciated. Thank you.

Tournament Complete!

Quote from: Original Post
Okay, here's how the battle format will go, The competitors will be sent a PM where they choose the order of what bot goes first to last and once they are sent, they cannot change. You can send a separate PM about the choices or all your choices maybe if you're not that active on the forums or do not care what order they go in at all. This is where the strategy and luck kicks in, because their competitors have chosen are secret, they need to think ahead and plan the outcome wisely. If they don't send it to me within the deadline, their choices are completely randomized. To make things fair, I have already made my choices and I will not change.

Ironforge TC Showcases / RedAce's Ironforge Showcase
« on: July 08, 2014, 08:02:21 AM »
Like a lot of people, I'm starting an Ironforge showcase, but because I'm not quite used to Ironforge yet, this may not be updated as much.

Anyway, here's the first two bots I made:

As I was searching the components available when I first got this, I saw the panels and I thought I could try to make a shell spinner since those are easy to make.

This is obviously inspired by Click's Thunderclap. It doesn't look the best so far, but I'll eventually give it a better skin.

As I wait for more entries in my tournament *cough*, This may be something I could do to mess around with for a while.

68

*Logo may change

Yes, I have returned with another tournament, but this time, this will be a tag-team style tournament this time around. I've also have read the suggestions you have given me and I will improve upon them.

-DSL 2.1
-IRL Style Building

-One team of two robots are required to enter

-You cannot enter unless you have a partner, both bots of the team are received and accepted
-You and your partner must also provide a team name (No dumb team names)
-You can send a secondary entry if you have entered already.
-You cannot try to find loopholes in the rules
-For winning the first Beetle Bashers, nicsan2009 will automatically be re-entered with I Dare You, but he needs a partner before re-entering. If he would like to update his entry, I can allow that.

BUILDING RULES:
-Beetleweight bots only (125.1-175.0 kg)
-You can only these use in game glitches: eFFe Glitching, Axle Loading and Snapper Loading
-No AAM, Trov Glitch, NCR Glitch, etc.

-No scuttlers, crawlers or walkers

-Jokebots are not allowed
-Bots that have dumb names will also be banned (Like "Bot with Spikes". I won't be too strict about this, but at least try to be serious.)
-You can upgrade your robot or send a new one as much as you like until signups end

BATTLE RULES:
-2 minute length matches
-2 vs. 2 match format
-Single Elimination Bracket
-Reskinned BBEANS Tournament Arena V2 Hazards on
-If a robot havoks once, the team with that bot will get a free restart, if it happens again, the team with that bot will be disqualified

Arena:

JUDGING:
Since some people were complaining about this, I will now improve upon this.

-Judging will be based on the points received by the three judges
-Battles will be judged on significant attacks and control of match
-Battles will be judged on a spectrum of 45 points
-I myself won't be a judge so I will need volunteers with two main judges and two backup judges
-Only one judge from each team is allowed, but judges do not need to enter the main tournament

I will be entering with this:

My partner will be SKBT.

General Support / Srimech Issue
« on: April 12, 2014, 09:47:24 AM »
I'm probably posting this in the wrong thread, so if I am, please move this topic. Thanks.

Anyway I'm having trouble AI'ing this bot:

https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/2897SHW-Chanticleer.zip

Bindings:
Code: [Select]
    list.append(("SHW-Chanticleer","Flipper",{'nose':0,'radius':1,'topspeed':100,'throttle':100,'turn':100,'turnspeed':2.5,'UseSrimech':0,'EnemyMoveRadius':1,'EnemyMoveTime':3,'PrioritizeFlipper':0,'NoChassisTime':1,'SrimechInterval':0,'weapons':(0,)}))
Now I only want the flipping scoops to fire when opposing bots are in the smart zone,

and I only want the srimech lid to fire when the bot is on it's back.

But the problem is the lid doesn't fire unless it get the phase where the srimech reaches it's limit (picture on the right for more details). Instead, It just uses the scoops to try to flip itself back.

Am I AIing it wrong? Is there something missing in the bindings? Do I need to modify the button functions in the wiring? Am I excluding something in this explanation?

Thank you.

DSL TC Showcases / RedAce's DSL Showcase
« on: August 04, 2013, 06:46:41 AM »
Hey guys, it's a long time since I last posted, but I never really left this place. I have been lurking into the DSL showcase and casting my BOTM votes.

But I think it's now time to start my own DSL showcase.

Starting with this:

797.9 kgs, a bunch of ants, and a TWM3R powering the weapon.

Yes, I still need to create more original bots, but it's a start I guess.

Update: 10-31-18: I should stress any post from here to early-ish 2011 is completely different from how I am nowadays.  A lot of this showcase was me trying to find a style, or at least get myself better at building in general.  So time has not been nice to me and if you would like a more accurate representation of my building style gradually getting more and more refined nowadays,  then go to page 34.  I will leave the older posts here, however, most of my posts for a few pages are pretty much me doing some sparingly used cheaty methods, refusing to improve some bots, sounding completely bafflingly strange or just cringeworthy, so be warned.  They do tell how far I improved from the last eight years on GTM, so that's one thing I suppose.  Everything else in this is completely unchanged aside from this edit.
