Lol wasn't even looking clearly when I made that reply.

You know rule of 7 just don't occur to me anymore since I notice them right away.  It's the asymmetries of components that bothers me the most.

I have to second this, DSL is an amazing mod but the more you look at it the more you realise how lazily stuff was made in it.

Presenting an evolution of my bot Stingray, from original Robot Wars-style bot, to a more serious fighter. I'm trying to make this vertical hammer bot more combat worthy, whilst still keeping it grounded in reality.

The bot I entered into Battlebots, and had to change, is version TWO. Versions three and four only happened today.

Evo 4 is far more stable when swinging, even with THZ.py which caused 1,2 and 3 to spazz, and pretty damaging. A side effect of it's stability is it's inability to self-right due to the length of the bot. Slighty erratic with FBS, utterly hopeless against face spinners.

I'm still looking to improve this, so i'll probably end up posting the .bot file soon.

As a bonus, have a re-skinned hypno wheel.

Getting back on topic, Frieezez, shall i just send another bot? I can't figure out why Beta works and my bot doesn't, with the same mappings. Do you want me to send something easier to AI?

In my opinion, a) this has gone a little wild and shouldn't be a 'big' thing, but due to the nature of these boards and people's reactions, it has. So b) I'm of the opinion that in these small 16 bot tournaments, placeholders shouldn't be allowed, as it slows down the progress of the signups and causes aggro with those unable to enter. It's maybe the host's discretion if reserved spots are allowed, but for somethign that you know will fill up quickly they're not required.

However, I do have a few more thoughts:

- In the case of Frieezez tournament, honestly the competition was talked about for a LONG time before it finally got accepted. There was a current discussion in that thread of people getting bots ready and for a while it was just a matter of 'when' it'd go to signups. If you were 'surprised' that signups opened 'suddenly' and you didn't have time to get a bot ready, then frankly, read the forums more.

- IF there is a bona-fide reason why you would need to send a placeholder in, send something in that, if worst came to worst, could participate in the tournament, if not your preferred bot. If you send a bot that you know you don't want to compete, or that it could not compete, don't send it in. Let others have the spot, and get ready for next time.

I think it's bad luck on the part of people who have missed out legitimately, but to those who're complaining about not having a spot, here's what you can do. Help Freeziez. Help him to make this a short, sweet successful tournament. It'd be impossible to predict if this will ever get to the stage where it's a Major tournament, and thus more available slots, but by helping him, rather than just making noise, you'll at least be contributing to the success of it.

Underpowered

'Ave it. :p

Pricklish becomes the King of Diamonds. 26 razors, NPC fasts, and now AI'd for actual combat, rather than trying to not fall off Flextop.

Indeed, it was a total... jumble of letters that people use here. "BTRSHDWBDDTGL"

@GF93 That's actually a cheatbot2 part, it looks like a 'beta' version of the one available from the Extras menu
@NFX Noted. Tried it, looks better. Thank you :approve:
@G.K Amazingly, those wheels are 100% texture. the actual wheels (hypnos) are faintly visibe to the right of the middle set.
@Scorpion Unfortunately no, but I should have. The one thing I did notice about PA was that it got incredibly bloated by S7, compared to the original Series 2 version.

First off, I would like to officially say "Goddamn you all" to those in my DSL thread who mentioned Panic Attack :p

A funny story, I was writing a huge post in my DSL thread about how crap the original Panic Attack replica was. How I couldn't make it look any good, how the roof/srimech was crap and off model, and I wasn't going to waste anymore time on it. Then I finally fixed my issue with exporting paint templates, and realised I could paint in 512x512.

Then I painted the bottom.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL BEHAVIOUR! :rage But here it is, an accurate rep of the Series 7 Panic Attack. No srimech, massive ineffective wedge at the back, ineffective weapons at the front. Luvvly Jubbly.

Where are the tanks?

I mean, the CO2 ones, not german ones.

Well hidden, behind the control board at the front.

That looks pretty good. Looks a bit like a Formula 1 car. (Put a rear spoiler on it. =D) Does it havok very much?

I've not experienced one so far, even when firing the weapon with nothing to flip. Which is funny, as I tried to make something similar back when i first got DSL, and that spazzed everywhere.

And as for the f1 look, if you see it then i'm glad, because *gasp* I didn't have a set theme for this, I just wanted to make something to house the weapon.

No fancy skin this time, but I wanted to experiment with flippers, and try something different. Wanted to try something similar to a Biohazard/Ziggy style lifter, but something that can pack a damaging punch too. Hence this is what I ended up with

Of course it's going to utterly fail against certain bot types, but i'm satisfied with it being a successful attempt at an uncommon RA2 flipper-type. :approve:

The only problem with that setup is that the Perm motor is mounted upside down, so the spindle is much lower to the bottom of the chassis. But thanks for helping :)

While I do make these for the Robot Wars vibe, and for the aesthetic appeal of them, rather than outright, absolute efficiency and effectiveness, I am not above recieving help with fundamentals such as extender work.

Your homework then, if anyone can suggest a better setup for the main spinner, either a better setup, or more 'efficient', then please say so. Below is an image of changes i've made based on the comments here, and the height you have to work with.
