Chassis is too small.  make it bigger and use steel 10 for maximum protection.

Build more for visual over performance.

I am quite surprise at the ridiculous amount of 5k+ cpu damage records with this art bot.  That's something I usually only get once of twice a day.

2 hoverblade setups I like to use

2 layers wide setup.  center core ranging from 3 to 5 squares wide.

1 layer long setup

2 layers triangular setup

==================================
Gun placement guide for land vehicles.
==================================

Take this sample bot as an example.

Here are the dimension of gun's hit box (this is for all 4 gun types)

Lv1-Lv2 = 1.5 x 1.5 x 1.5
Lv3-Lv4 = 1.75 x 1.75 x 1.75
Lv5-Lv6 = 2 x 2 x 2
Lv7-Lv8 = 2.5 x 2.5 x 2.5
Lv9-Lv10 = 3 x 3 x 3

So yeah, the typical one elevation staircase do not work.  Notice how in the sample bot, the 2 back guns are exactly 3 elevations from the front 2.

Also your chassis can interfere with your shots, if you put them too far back your chassis will prevent you from shooting downward.  Below is a list of how far you can put your guns at the same elevation before your chassis starts to block shots.

Lv1-Lv4 = 1 block back
Lv5-Lv6 = 2 blocks back
Lv7-Lv8 = 3 blocks back
Lv9-Lv10 = 4 blocks back

This is why in my sample gunbed, the second row of guns have 1 elevation.  Even though it cannot shoot over the 2 guns in the front, it can shoot downward without the chassis blocking the shot.  Notice also how the first row is exactly 4 blocks back.

You may also add gun protection without interfering with shots when blocks are placed close enough to the SMG.  Shots will be able to shoot over these barriers.  This (or the slightly slimmer version on my gunbed) is the setup I use with Lv10 guns.

Lastly about the face you put your guns at for ground vehicles.

Top Guns
------------
Pros:  360 coverage, full anti air
Cons:  Easy to target (when grounded), has the tendency to dictate the size of your bot.

Bottom Guns
------------
Pros:  360 coverage
Cons:  Cannot hit air, requires hovering

Front Guns (using top mount)
------------
Pros:  180 frontal coverage, limited anti air
Cons:  Easy to target

Side Guns
------------
Pros:  Hardest to target, limited anti air
Cons:  90 frontal coverage requiring bots to face directly at an enemy

Trim down my T7 a bit before I like speed, while maintaining plenty of durability.

What to upgrade next: armor, hover-blades or thrusters? :vista:
To get a functional beginner tier 10, simply replace your current parts with Lv8 red armors, Lv8 hoverpads/thrusters, and 12x Lv10 SMG.

If you are doing fine now, get hover and thruster to push yourself to tier 9.  Otherwise stick around at tier 8 to upgrade armor first.

Hammerhead updated with gun placement and armor optimized for fighting opponent slightly below to same height.  Bottom guns can't hit targets from above anyway so I can push them much further back without worrying about that slight upward angle being blocked.

I made the bot 2 square wider, now the seal clubbing never ends!!!

I think ground vehicles are way less vulnerable than airborne ones, except against plasmas, imo. You just need 1 or 2 hovers/wings shot off to drastically reduce your performance in battle. That's not a problem if you're already stuck to the ground.
My hovers stays functional all the way down to 30% health.

I feel nostalgic enough to build a tank with wheels.  Now I remember why I stop using wheels.  Their movement sucks.

Bottom made out of full cubes so you can do all the crazy turns without flipping.  6 steering wheels + 2 drive wheels.

Yes, 1.0.

Setting the CSolver01's point to exactly the same as the axle attachment point in the gmf helps stability (which was what I done in Ironforge).  If that's still not enough, you can try setting the motor max speed in the txt to 0.

Do you have the latest version of Ironforge?  I think it was fixed after v0.4 or something.

Use Ironforge drive motors.

Yes that's the one thing I went out of my way to fix.  You need to modify the drive motor's GMF if you want to fix that.

Yeah don't mix hoverblades, use 12x T6.  You want balance and you won't get that from mixing.

Also move the 2 front guns 1 space down, and all armor blocks has full cube hitbox so you can trim the gun mount corners with tetras to minimize weight.

Also center bottom row uses full cubes, just in case you don't remember.

And use up those CPU with L4 thrusters at the bottom.  You can never have too much thrusters.

Yes guns shoot through L9 shields when placed close enough.

As for interior

It's really not that complicated.  Just make sure you

1.  Place your hoverpads as wide as possible.  If you want to make a fat hover then you need to increase the width of the inner core.  Keep that outer wall 1 layer thick
2.  Don't stick so much stuff up, it will impact your balance.
3.  Use 12 blades

Just build a box at the lower tier without trying to add all the extra stuff to it, just to get a feeling of how it should move.

A more speed oriented design.

game caps cpu at 1511.  You just get it a lot faster.

Well a few things.

1.  Orange block is for tier 5, they are ineffective at T7 no matter how you build.  And tbh you are better off at tier 5 at level 37 anyway.
2.  Top just channels damage inward in a strait line.  Just use the "solid wall" method you are already using on the sides.
3.  4 hover blades are slow.  you need at least 6.
4.  I don't use any fancy triforce.  The inner tube uses solid inners and full cubes (besides the pilot seat).  Yes you really need some weight there to keep hovercraft stablize.
5.  Also that red bot with 8 electroplate is not a tank.  It wins by out maneuvering with 12 pads and 4 thrusters.  Electroplates in general are not useful for tanks, they are for hit and run with medic support.
6.  Above all else, there are no reason to rush to a tier you are not effective in.  I took my time got to level 100 by tier 8.  Make sure you are winning at your current tier before moving up.

Large batteries are probably better for IRL bots than small batteries because unlike stock/dsl-s, the battle last a lot longer.

99
You use ballast as a counter weight against the strong motor, so you bot don't flail around.

And since ballast weight do not count toward your weight class, the only downside to using them is it slows down your bot.

Holy crap ! It's Ounce ! Holy crap !
I know right?  Now I might have to remake my showcase too.

Also use ballast.  You may use up to 4 without them being counted toward your weight limit.
