If adding parts from other games is up for debate, the crusher component in RWRA2 would be great as it comes in three sizes as it is and wouldn't be difficult to skin. Crushers are a pain in DSL atm as they are just, most of the time, a bunch of extenders and angled pieces to make the crusher which, when damaged, is a major havoc risk with all the small parts on the floor.

The crusher does damage but not much at all, but still more than an extender crusher with small teeth on it. I imported them in my DSL whenever I make crushers but obviously can't enter them into anything, but having these in DSL and legalised for tournaments would be perfect in order to see crushers be used more in tourneys with reduced crashes 👌

i'll second this, it's well made and crushers are hurting for good, stable options

Got one bot lined up already. May or may not resurrect PanDRUMonium to go with it, because you can't keep a good pun down.

yeah that's not bad! i'd pull the wedgelets in a bit so they look like they're attached to something inside the bot, and maybe make the wheelguards look more securely attached

Building Rules:
*This tournament will be using the latest DSL version with the IRL packs installed.
*The building style will be IRL, and the weight class Heavyweight (800.0kg).
*No weapon limits. Why? Because they’re dumb. I know when one of you fools is weapon spamming, and there are other aspects of this tournament that will help balance that out.
*The only cheatbot2 part allowed is the Overkill Motor. You can all go without the flatmotor, it won’t kill you.
*BFE, OBJ and other out-of-game modifications are allowed, provided that they are only being used to enhance aesthetics.
*One entry per person. I will allow one alternate config per entry.
*Clusterbots will be allowed, provided there is no more than a 6:4 ratio between the two machines’ weight.
*Thwackbots and SnS are not allowed.
*Walking robots are not allowed. All robots must use wheels or tracks as their main form of locomotion.
*All robots must show controlled movement with a human driver.
*AI codes that perform unrealistic acts (EternalFlame, etc.) are not allowed.
*I reserve the right to reject any robot that I do not feel comfortable accepting, even if it fits all of the above criteria.

Format:
*Here’s where things get interesting. Instead of a flat “winner take all” bracket, this tournament will have two parts. First, all the entries will be scored by myself on a 0-10 scale, based on how well I think your robot exemplifies RA2 IRL. Points will be taken off for sloppy extender work, bad aesthetic decisions, and just generally not looking like a real robot. Custom skinned components will likely give you bonus points. Once these scores are tallied, every robot participates in a ten-round Swiss tournament. At the end of that, I will take your number of wins and add that to your subjective judging score. The robot with the most points after both rounds is declared the overall winner.

Match Rules:
*The Swiss tournament will be one-on-one, 2-minute fights in the GTMCS2 arena.
*If no robot is defeated after two minutes, I will judge the fight on a 13-point scale, splitting 7 points for aggression and 6 points for damage.
*Your robot gets one havok restart per match, with the penalty going to the robot that more likely caused the incident (for example, if your bot loses a 10cm extender and both robots fly into the void, you would be the one receiving the penalty). If your bot havoks again, you forfeit the battle. Game crashes count as havok penalties for the more damaged robot at the time of crash.
*To discourage “spikeballing”, each robot has a 30-second timer that will count down every time a robot leaves the floor and begins translating using a spinning weapon. This timer will never reset. Once your robot has achieved 30 cumulative seconds of spikeballing during any match, it will be disqualified.

I will not be competing in order to be fully impartial as a judge.

Discussion / Re: GTM's Builder Rankings - 1st Edition
« on: May 23, 2020, 12:17:45 PM »
you know it looked interesting until I saw it was irl only

then again nobody builds dsl-s (apart from reier i guess) so i guess it's fair enough  :gawe:

nothing keeping you from reviving dsl-s, old man :V

(who knows if enough interest comes back we could do standard rankings too)
