Since a date for Franklin hasn't been announced yet, this is pretty much the next east coast event. I'm pretty hyped because it's closer to me than any of the Pennsylvania events and that all the MIT robots (EG: Colsonbot and DDT) will probably be competing. One more thing, the guy that made Double Agent is interested in competing.

In case anyone's wondering this competition will be on October 4th.

ROBOT WARS SERIES 9 (Stock)

Before anyone asks, yes Jonzu did give me permission to run this. Basically, I didn't like that Series 9 was being run in DSL instead of Stock (IMO, it being run in Stock was part of the fun), so I'm going to do Series 9 in Stock. Because I can.

RULES
1) Stock IRL MW (250-399 kg). In-game glitches are allowed as long as the robot remains IRL.
1.5) I will allow burst enhancing spin motors.
2) Clusterbots are illegal, but you can make a robot with interchangeable weapons.
3) Cheatbot2 and custom parts are not allowed. The 140 cm extender, however, is legal.
4) BFE, AAM, Hax Mode, ZeroG, the Thyrus Glitch, etc is illegal.
5) Popups, jugglers, crawlers and other unrealistic bot designs are not allowed.
6) Burst wedges are not allowed unless your robot uses them as a flipping device.
7) Like Jonzu, I will be banning any robot with a dumb name (for example, Mr Taco in 3D). Try to name it something someone IRL would use.
8) No more than eight MOVING weapons on any robot. Maces and iron spikes are restricted to six each. Static weapons do not have this restriction, but please try to use a realistic number of ramming spikes.
9) Walkerbots get a 100 kg weight bonus.

10) Battles are 3 minutes long in Wham's modded Robot Wars arena (lower walls than Lu-tze's, more realistic hazards, etc)
11) 16 heats, each with 8 robots in them. First round melees each have four robots in them, and two robots advance from them. From there it's a single elimination bracket to see who wins the heat.
12) I am judging this tournament in case a fight lasts 3 minutes. I will be judging on Style, Control, Damage and Aggression.
13) 128 robots in total will be in this competition. This includes the 16 seeded robots from Series 8, your entries, plus the replica byebots.
14) Once your bot is entered, it can be updated until the SBV thread is posted.
15) Any robot that makes the Semi-Finals gets seeded for the Tenth Wars. In a similar fashion, the five GTM builders that made the semis will have reserved spots.
16) If I get more than 32 entries, I will start swapping replicas out for GTM entries.

Special Note: I will be inspecting every entry I get to make SURE it is absolutely IRL realistic. I will be banning anything similar to Search & Destroy or Battle Scar S (despite them not making the semis, they bent the rules WAY too much).

Special Note 2: If you entered Series 8, it's recommended you enter either the same robot you used for that, or an upgraded version of it. However, you don't necessarily have to.

Special Note 3: I have removed the blade's normals for this tournament, so they actually do damage. However, the larger blades have been nerfed a bit, since they do a little too much damage.

Special Events:
Each heat will have a special event in between Rounds 1 and 2.
If you want to enter a special event (bar the War of the Weapons and International Inferno, which will be arranged by me after signups end), simply tell me and I'll throw you in.

My entry will of course be the reigning champion, Mr. Brownstone.

Tournament Archives / Blades of Fury 3
« on: June 17, 2013, 01:14:00 AM »
RULES:
DSL 2.1, Standard building style
The weight class will be LW (248 KG). I will also impose a weight minimum of 240 KG.
The arena will be Serge's Ring Arena.
Match time will be 2 minutes.
No Cheatbot2, BFE, AAM or Hax Mode will be allowed.
In-game glitches are fine as long as the robot is still realistic.
No crawlers, Cheap Norris style robots, or robots without controlled movement will be allowed.
Flail weaponry is banned. Completely. Sorry.
Clusterbots are allowed, but you must be high to try to do a LW cluster :P
Fights will be 1v1, best two out of three in a double elimination format.
A havok restart will be granted to any robot that causes a match-altering havok. If it havoks again, the robot is disqualified. If it loses a match due to havok reasons, it is eliminated from the tournament entirely. This means if it loses due to havok DQ in the main bracket, it will automatically lose it's loser's bracket fight.
Updates will be allowed for the entire month, until the splash is posted. You can completely change your robot as many times as you like, but you cannot enter a placeholder robot. One robot per person, please. And no multi-accounting. I'm looking at you MassimoV.

I will run signups for one month. Anyone who enters a legit robot within that month will be entered into the tournament.
My entry will be Father of Flaze 2. Final Z just wasn't good enough without flails, sorry Jonzu. We can do a challenge after the tournament if you want :P

The winner of the tourney gets to beta test the final version of Live Designs AI.

Tournament Archives / The Stock Heavyweight Ultimate Showdown
« on: June 13, 2013, 03:08:13 PM »
It's back once again folks. 256 of the world's best Stock Heavyweights are going to fight it out in a single elimination tournament to determine the best of the best.

If you want one of your bots in this, and I don't have it, then put it on the bot exchange and hope it's good enough for the competition. It's gonna be tough to get in this time around, because of the huge amount of new robots that are just amazing (AKA VB and Click's bot packs, plus the ARBBC AI, etc), so the herds will be thinned. A lot.

Hopefully I'll be able to get an entry list up soon. Like I said, I have a ton of bots to sift through.

Tournament Archives / Motorama style tournament (Name TBA)
« on: May 30, 2013, 12:30:26 PM »
Rules:

DSL2, IRL realism, custom parts are not allowed.

Double elimination. If a weight class gets less than 8 entrants, that tournament will be round robin.

Weight classes:
Antweight (0-125 kg)
Beetleweight (125.1-175 kg)
Mantis (175.1-200 kg)
Hobbyweight (200.1-248.9 kg)
Featherweight (249-300 kg)
Sportsman (249-300 kg plus building restrictions)

Arena will be the small arena (with a possible reskin), with hazards off.

Sportsman building restrictions:
-Wedges must be less than 25% of the length of the body
-Spinning weapons cannot use a motor more powerful than a Slimbody motor, unless the weapon is a sawblade.
-Robots must have an active weapon

General tourney rules:
-Each robot gets one havok restart for the entire tournament. If your robot havoks again it is DQed from the competition.
-BFE can only be used for chassis height. AAM and Hax Mode are not allowed.
-Ingame glitches can be used if you need to, aside from the aforementioned Hax Mode.
-Walkerbots get a 50% weight bonus. Shufflebots get a 10% weight bonus.
-One Judge Burst motor is allowed per robot, all other cheatbot2 parts are banned.
-Any usage of flail weaponry is banned.
-Robots can have an unlimited amount of updates.
-Fairyweight battles will be 2 minutes long, all other battles will go for 3 minutes.
-Clusterbots are allowed, but they must add up to a combined weight under the weight limit for that class. Both robots must be knocked out for the cluster to be eliminated.

I will need judges for this, but that can be arranged later. Battles will be judged on Aggression, Damage and Strategy (5 points per category per judge).

So yeah. Discuss. This probably won't happen until the fall, but I got the idea now and wanted to get it down.

Chatterbox / apology for recent actions
« on: May 29, 2013, 09:07:22 PM »
I'd just like to apologize for the drama I've been spewing out the past few days. Things IRL have gotten stressful for me and I kinda overreacted to something. Sorry guys.

You can lock/delete the thread I posted about ARC, all it's doing now is serving as fuel for the flames.

Since the old thread was apparently deleted, I've decided to revive it.

It's simple, you post a pic of an IRL robot and the first one to get it posts a new robot.

I'll go first:
