Since Meganerdbomb is slacking, I'mma take the initiative.

Mod: Stock/DSL 2.2/Ironforge
Theme: Robots based on common household objects, in case you have no idea what I'm talking about, just look at this.
Weightclass: HW

Other stuff:
No re-entries from past BOTMs.
RA2CF is allowed.
OBJRA2 isn't allowed.
DSC's IRL pack is allowed for DSL 2.2.
You must put the weight on the splash with one image of the insides.
Images must be no wider than 700px and no taller than 800px.
Don't make your file size huge.
Entries must be PM'd to me by July 31th.

-normal stock building rules
-rule of 7 break and stock cheatbot2 flamethrower allowed
-no bfe, ra2cf, objra2, every other cheatbot2 part and etc.
-ring arena
-32 entrants
-rumble format with a loser's bracket.
-you must pm me ON GTM your bot to enter. (one person is exempt from this rule  :mrgreen:)
-i can reject any bot for any reason
-robots must show some sort of controlled movement.
-robots may be disqualified for excessive havoking/the builder complaining  :dance:
-deadline will be two weeks after this becomes a signup thread, you may send a 2nd bot along with your first entry, but it will be put on a waiting list until signups close. if signups aren't filled by then, it will be added into the main tourney.

Here's how I do it since using the compiler is too much effort for me  :mrgreen:

Things you will need: Notepad++, paint.net/photoshop/gimp/whatever

1: Create a new folder for your reskinned part/parts (I like to add 0s or -s as the first letter in the file name so it comes up first in the components list)
 

2: Grab the .gmf and map of the part you want to skin and put them in your new folder


3: Open your map (it's either going to be a .bmp or .tga) with your image editor of choice, since you will probably want more detail in the part and most parts have standard maps that are 256x256, 128x128, or even 64x64 I suggest the first thing to do after you open it is resize it to 512x512.


4: Put whatever you want on the component (It's optional to use layers, but I think they help a lot when putting multiple things on one parts)


5 (Optional): Save a .pdn/whatever photoshop uses/whatever gimp uses of your skin first incase you want to tweak the layers later as .bmps don't support layers, give it some cool name I guess.


6: Save your part as a 24 bit .bmp or 32 bit .tga (both uncompressed)


7: Go to your maps folder and rename your new .bmp/.tga to something with the same number of characters as the old .bmp/.tga, this is important and if the number of characters isn't the same it won't work. Since the original .bmp name was "snowplow1" I can put anything I want as long as its 9 characters, so I will use "memeplow1"


8: Go back to you main folder for the reskinned part (In this case, 0dope), rename your .gmf to match your .bmp/.tga (so memeplow1.gmf) and open it with Notepad++


9: Go to Search, then find and type in .bmp/.tga in and find where the map is specified in the .gmf


10: Change the file name specified to the .bmp we made earlier, so again, memeplow1.bmp and then save the file


11: Go to your main components folder and locate the .txt file for the parts

And make a copy of it and rename it (I like to name it the same as the folder I created in step 1)


12: Open the .txt file, change the dir to the folder we made in Step 1, the .gmf to the one we made in Step 8, and save the file. (Optional but recommended, remove the styles from the .txt file)


13: Go open RA2 and see if you did it right, if you did you should have a new reskinned part

The arena will be the Epic Showdown Arena aka THE COLOSSEUM OF ROBOTIC GTM COMBAT!!!!
Enigma will host, but his wheelchairfu and him will drive the bots to avoid the AI basis that exists in RA2

All right, here is my 5 step plan to Make GTM Great Again.

Step 1:

 We replace Trov as admin with someone more cunning and out of the box like Life Robot Arena 2, since he seems to know what is always right for the forums despite being banned twice. He also would bring back the rep users for all so people like him would not have to post "+1" all the time to the point where it is basically spam and instead could just hit a small green arrow.

Step 2:

We replace yugitom, who is currently do a very POOR job running the tourney section. I assume Life Robot Arena 2 as admin would appoint someone way more active and a right hand man of his like Jamied. I feel like Jamied could keep it running smoothly as he is rather active and has a very high intellectual for a 12 year old.

Step 3:

We remove all the ARC members from the forum and build an IP wall between ARC and GTM. This would remove members like  playzooki, so obviously it's a great idea.

Step 4:

We demod/murder with anthrax Kill and Craaig, as they are too busy with their "lives" (Ha, yeah right) to fix anything around here. I suggest in their places we have Botomatic and Asbestosastar as moderators and give them the power to ban, so they can get back at all the bullies on the forum.

Step 5:

We have a hostile takeover of the domain from ACAMS, this means there would be no way of anybody getting in way of this plan once it is in action.

Tournament Format:


The weight class used will be Heavyweight.

The game mode will be Stock/DSL 2.2/Ironforge/Retooled, All the robots from each mode will be fighting each other.  Don't even think about that other game.  Yes, the one that starts with a R and ends with an 2 and has an R in the middle.  I don't even want to type it for fear that someone will just skim the rules and see it and enter a R... ahem, a non-stock/dsl 2.2/ironforge/retooled bot.

You can use a bot of the multi kind.

Matches in BBEAMS7 will consist of whatever I see fit for the current matchup between the bots.

The bracket will be double elimination?

The matches will be fought in the BBEAMS Tournament Arena V2, maybe?

The match time will be randomized via the Match Time Randomizer 5000(tm)

There are 16 entry slots.  That sounds like a lot, but there were a few late entries that were left out in BBEAMS6, so don't wait too long!

Building Rules:

1. The only parts allowed on your bot are the parts that come with the game, which means any cheatbot2 parts that come with any of the listed mods above are allowed.

2. Your bot can be built entirely in the bot lab. That means you can use AAM or bot file editing.

3. Your bot is not required be to show controlled (not random) movement at any time during the match.

4. Your bot's AI can do things unrelated to driving or firing weapons, such as repair itself or apply force to the opponent. Restrictions may apply.

5. Glitches in the game (excluding random Havok explosions) may be exploited as long as they do not violate the above conditions.

As you may have noticed, our old friend, the Chatterbox has fallen today.
For many years the Chatterbox was one of the main central (sh**)posting hubs of GTM, along with the Playground and Politics section. For many years it have provided us with many laughs and good times. However, since the addition of Off-topic discussion and having a Skype group, the Chatterbox soon fell into disuse and soon failed to provide a purpose. Today it was removed/merged to Off-Topic Discussion.
