Yep! A lot of people are critical of not having a hard linkage from the servo to the lifter but I've found it really advantageous. Verts hitting the wedge just tend to throw the wedge back instead of the entire bot, plus no broken servo. It means I don't get optimal power but as long as it can lift bots, that's all that matters I think.

So myself and a few other local people are running events in Bristol, UK now!

https://bristolbotbuilders.com

We've so far run 2 antweight events, both in bars in Bristol, 1 including our Bodgebots tournament, featuring robots made in a few hours that day.

Our next event is BBB3: Beetle Bash, up at UWE on Sunday. In the area and wanna see some robot? Come along! Feel free to message me for details.

Thought it'd be fun to do a summative post of the 4 years of evolution on Snappy. Hardly anybody's first bot is a piece of art, the best way to build something cool is to start, and improve! Only now am I getting to the point where Snappy is actually the robot I wanted to build when I started.

Very proud of where it's at, and looking forward to taking it to BBB this weekend then Bugglebots and the European Championships later in the year!

Almost feel this would be better as a new DSL-S ruleset instead of calling it related to IRL but that's me.

The permaban was, quite frankly, undermined by people allowing him into tournaments.

(Not an attack on you btw Ava)

Would really appreciate not bumping old topics when there's nothing significant to add

Bots irl just don't use long paper thin sheets. I would've thought you got that bit 😉

54
Servos will be used up to Beetleweights, you almost certainly won't be able to make a lifter using one in a Feather.

Geese is bang on and we need to take action now, as someone who often finds themselves as an onlooker of GTM rather than an active participant these days.

I'd never recommend doing a spinner to start with as your first bot.

In terms of feather construction, 20mm HDPE walls and 10mm HDPE base/lid are sufficient. Motors from Argos drills are great for drive. FeatherTwos are good speed controllers, available from Nuts and Bots. My feather in all, not including radio kit or charger which I already had, cost around £200.

I was one of the people that built it, yes. Two-Headed Death Flamingo is a team of 4 people, often joined by Rory from Nuts who helps us maintain it, and our respective partners. The youngest of any of us at Portsmouth was 21. If you were at any show that wasn't the first on Saturday, you'll have also seen my featherweight, the big pink one :)

Related, event report for Mingo from Portsmouth, where we finished the competition in 3rd place!

Somebody why don't you look anything like Pikabob you've ruined all my dreams.
It's so sick to see the HW Huge doing the thing successfully. Here's hoping it continues ;)

A D2 wedge would be terrible on that robot anyway, considering it's a featherweight... Lol.
Spikes are cool. Spikes are fun. For every person like yourself who strives for the most effective thing there has to be someone else actually just having fun.
