Existing Games / Game Boy ROMs
« on: January 09, 2010, 09:13:51 AM »
Well, there was a load of these in the RW:ED thread, and I just found some BattleBots ROMs (always wanted to play them) so I thought a collective thread could be useful :P

I found them all online or in other threads.

These all open with Visual Boy Advance (can be downloaded as part of the Robot Wars Bundle)

Existing Games / What was your first video game?
« on: December 23, 2009, 08:35:14 AM »
Stagfish gave me an idea in the RW:ED thread... what was your first ever video game?
It'd be interesting to see how it all differs between age ranges and location XD

Mine was actually Super Mario Land on the original Game Boy, good times ;D

Thanks very much to Reier for the arena skin/RIP logo

SPLASH
It's HERE.
Sorry for the lack of flashy presentation with this, I've always kinda sucked at that :3

LOSER'S BRACKET
Updated for the final.
DO NOT LOOK AT THIS unless you want the next (currently not uploaded) match (Match 4) to be spoiled!

VIDEOS
Spoilers are in white spoiler tags (:P) underneath the match description.
Winner's Bracket
ROUND 1
Battle 1 - Badnik96 vs Craaig vs Reier - ****
A good match and a great way to kick RIP off! And yes, I suck at strengths/weaknesses.
Battle 2 - 123savethewhales vs R1885 vs Urjak - ****
A quick match, but nonetheless very exciting!
Battle 3 - JoeBlo vs Pwnator vs Thyrus - ***
A bit more drawn out than the last match, and I'm sure one of the contestants will be having a pure 'FUUUU-' moment...
Battle 4 - Doomkiller vs Jack Daniels vs The Ounce - ***
A pop-up, a gut ripping VS and a poker. Good match but... the outcome could be predicted. Most of this match is in double-speed as recommended by Reier. It looks alright :P
Battle 5 - Condor33 vs STC vs Trumpetguy - ***
Seems one sided... then turns on it's head. Another FUUU- moment, I think
Battle 6 - 090901 vs Clickbeetle vs TriTon - ***
Lots of shell spinner action here, although one contestant won't be happy with what his robot does :P
Battle 7 - Naryar vs Rusty vs Somebody - **
Slightly tedious match - lots of circles. Best moment is definately at the start!
Battle 8 - Jonzu95 vs Man Manu vs Rusty - ****
A good match, with another surprise!

ROUND 2
Battle 1 - Reier vs Urjak - ****
Quick but very action packed. Could go either way!
Battle 2 - Pwnator vs The Ounce - *****
I personally really like this match, hence the 5*. Suspense, drama, and action all in the space of a minute or so! There's a few good camera shots here too :P
Battle 3 - Click vs STC - ****
I don't know what to say anymore.
Battle 4 - Jonzu95 vs Naryar - ***
More circles? XD

Semi FinalsSemi Final 1 - STC vs Urjak - *****
Lots of action here, both bots could've won this!
Semi Final 2 - Naryar vs Pwnator - *****
Another 5* match, this one doesn\'t even need the double speed!

Grand Final
Pwnator vs Urjak - *****
A great match with robots flying all over the place! A fitting end to the Winner's Bracket

Everyone's entry number will be put into a randomizer. This randomizer will give everyone the number that corresponds to where they go on the bracket.

GO AHEAD AND ENTER SOMETHING ORIGINAL. ORIGINALITY IS GREAT.
IN FACT, THERE WILL BE AWARDS AT THE END OF THE TOURNAMENT AND A FEW WILL BE BASED ON ORIGINALITY AND AMUSEMENT (what did you expect, it's me running this tournament :P)

Rules are as follows:
1. Middleweight, realistic, DSL 2.1 bots.
2. No glitches, BFE, AAM, GMF swapping etc (UNLESS it's been FULLY OK-ED with me).

4. I AI, and you don't complain about it. Do it yourself if you want to.
5. No cheatbot2 parts
6. Must show CONTROLLED MOVEMENT.
I think that just about covers mostly everything.

2. If a havok occurs, the match will be restarted.
3. Matches will be 2 minutes long.

5. Thyrus
6. JoeBlo

General Support / I Don't Get Hamachi.
« on: August 22, 2009, 02:59:24 PM »
Okay, this will more than likely seem very n00by.
I did do a search but to no avail.
I don't get Hamachi.
You download it, you join a server... then what?

Sorry if I'm asking something stupid or something that's been asked loads before, but I'd like to play online and, heh, I don't get it :P

Chatterbox / Off for a while..
« on: August 05, 2009, 03:07:25 PM »
Most people probably know this, but just in case any tourneys start that I've signed up to, just thought it'd be a good idea to let you all know I'm off for 2 weeks well deserved (in my opinion) holiday, on a small Greek island.

See you on the 20th!

But what are the Hex Plates for?

They confuse me XD

Contests / Flip Test Dummy - How Long Does It Take You?
« on: July 07, 2009, 11:54:50 AM »
I was just wondering, how long does it take people to kill Flip Test Dummy?
I know something like this was done with Sir K, but I find FTD more entertaining :P

My best is in the RW arena with Shinigami, it was OOTA in 7 seconds... But I'm trying'a get that time down.

Although I'm not sure if it counts cos Shini's a SHW.

Stock Showcases / Craaig ~ Stock Showcase
« on: April 09, 2009, 04:12:16 AM »
Okay, so I went back to Stock yesterday night, and decided on the most unoriginal idea ever. Remake Stealth Destroyer, as a stock bot.

So, here's Shock Destroyer.
It's called that, cos, well, it sounds remotely like the original, and shock sounds like stock. Yeah, running out of ideas. :P

Steel armour.

DSL TC Showcases / cephalopod ~ dsl stuff
« on: April 06, 2009, 01:56:47 PM »
Okay. Got this game few weeks back and quickly got bored of stock, so got DSL.

Here's what I came up with after a week or so.

Stealth Destroyer II

Super Heavyweight (that weight needs to come down :P)
10mm Plastic Armor
12 Battlepacks
4 NPC-T64's (fast for both sides) with Shiny hub caps
Dual-Perm motor, 150 cm disc, 2 60kg hammers, 2 hypno-teeth, 2 spike strips

AND IT STAYS STABLE. yay. Works well as a flipper-disc-thing.

Okay so I'm new to this, and when I try turning a component using shift or ctrl it does nothing? I'm using vista, if that helps...
