Tournament Archives / Re: Tournament Rule Change Discussion

Id still utilise a polling thread, some hosts like to use that feature to make decisions such as weight class' or arena's, etc

At least its all contained in the one place for your convenience too

A flaw in my idea I just noted would be if the poll stretches for a long period of time, some members who voted for it, may have left so perhaps a regular turnover of polls is still needed

that said, a maximum amount of running tournaments allowed should be binned or maybe increased (so were not running in circles).

Slight update on the FR/RR front would be nice. Been a while, after all.

Do we even have anyone for that these days? 2010 was a long time ago when Gigafrost made up that system

Perhaps polls need to brought in with all tournaments able to be voted (multiple option voting as opposed to single option)

if you achieve an amount of votes that is greater or equal to your specified amount of signups you may go ahead, this could also serve as an on going thing rather then a poll once a month (via poll option editing)

Food for thought..

Is the minor tournament host vote really needed? There isn't going much around in GTM right now and so on.

I agree, I introduced the system back when we had more tournaments starting then showcases, but now I think its cutting the circulation of this website a little

Worth letting people know... Dropbox is an awesome cloud website that gives you 2GB's free (plus you can buy more) Very worthwhile backing things up every now and again there is you dont want to buy external hardrives

ah I knew someone would get the wrong end of the stick..

I never at any point said they dont deserve to be in..

just that current popularity is swaying votes away from past legends that helped shape robot combot, I mean in many sports you have to be retired before you can be nominated for the hall of fame?

Explosion will probably become a legend when it retires anywho..

I was just openly expressing my opinion, not telling you to change anything, so no need to get all defensive :P

Kinda feels like the hall of fame has lost purpose.. seeing robots like Razer and Chaos 2 along with robots that "just competed last weekend" doesnt seem right to me..

Nothing against you Vertigo, good job getting in but I feel there is many missed past robots that made milestones..

« on: September 02, 2013, 09:58:33 AM »
I only have the idea on how to do it.. my last attempt crashed the game when you loaded a match lol

but basically in a match the chassis just becomes a shaped component so there is no textures or anything on the inside, only your skin and since most baseplate components arnt visible, id imagine the results wouldnt be like your robot above :P

Love the look of it, Thy  :gawe:

Ive tried a few times in the past to get transparent skins to work, stumbled over another idea the other day too

only trouble is, beyond the botlab, it will just be a few particular components floating in a transparent blob since there is no baseplate/ texture as such during battles

Custom Components Showcase / Re: Pay Tribute With Replicas

Grim Reaper.  It doesn't look a lot like the original, a fact that I realized when I was in the finishing stages, but y'know, I wasn't in the mood to start from scratch.  So I'm not going to include pics of the original, and if you care about me you won't post any here.  The youtube videos of it are blurry as all heck, so maybe it'll look like it has a passing resemblence
(Image removed from quote.)

I know im necro-ing a little here but after lurking a little bit, this sticks out to me as a really awesome looking replica! from my memory that looks pretty damn good.

One thing that bothers me,

5. Robot who wins the knockout phase is declared world champion.

I hope thats for the gimmick of this tournament right?.. otherwise I think your opening a can of worms.. just a warning in advance..

Yeah it is pretty cool... completely unnecessary to use giant robots but I guess they do make the movie :P
