Its coming along horribly :P

Hands have been tied with my own business I started up late last year, I let this go a bit on the backburner since the deadline isnt so tight, but fear not you will have some cubes soon, I dont want to do this thing half assed ;)

Short answer: Everything

Exploration is always the best way to check out different things, dont forget you can copy your RA2 game folder in case you want to undo anything you install ;)

Big names? Ill be honest.. I dont know half the entrants LOL (joined during my absence I guess?)

There's a byebot still, is it 8 entrants ?

Well Thyrus just filled up spot #8

If you really want to give it a shot I can do 9 entrants (3 battles of 3 robots, winder of each goes into a 3 robot final)

Just have to build quickly :P

I c wat u did thar, Joey.

I did say it was potentially tacky :P

I's propably cause there are alot of new member who cought on the easier IRL building and thus nver build an sns before. I actually tried to build one for this and it sucked.
the old members who used to build stuff like that are inactive or gone for good. I could try to put something together tomorrow if you want.

Yeah I did wonder that.. IRL seems to be the way around here now.. (also DSL 3)

There is no hard feelings about me cutting this down.. Id just rather Clash Cubes be remembered for the 60 robot CC4 then an 8 Robot CC5.. thats why its changed to be a different tournament from the regular ones :)

So ive decided to re-jig this tournament slightly..

Rules are exactly the same, so there is no problems there but as you can see its been renamed (Potentially tacky pun intended)

With the fair lack of interest (and in the interest of preserving Clash Cubes history) I decided to cut my losses and run this a single standalone tournament and evaluate my options in a few months regarding running CC5.

So for now, we have 7 entrants.. most likely a byebot will be included unless someone sends me an entry in the next 24-ish or so hours

Fbs is a very basic python, it can basically be templated for all entries while meltybrain realistically needs testing and tweaking to find the robots optimal performance..

Given ive set myself the goal of 4 mini tournaments in 3 months.. something has to give :)

I'm slightly skeptical about the bouncy walls keeping the match interesting.
Let's say, two SnS are destroyed, and the other two aren't touching the walls or each other. Won't they just spin in place, apart from avoiding immobilization?

I've never really used/made SnS so I'm not 100% myself, but doesn't the standard SnS AI, whatever that is, at least make an attempt to maintain close proximity to opposing robots? Could still be problematic unless you can fine tune said proximity, but idk.
Most of the SnS in Starcore AI 3 had an AI with the basic strategy "Drive X distance away from opponent, spin" with the hope that the other AI will just drive into it. So yeah that SHOULD be the case. The thing is, when you got 2 SnS with that strategy fighting each other, it doesn't work out. They won't hit each other.

The FBS_1 series pythons have a variable which spends time locating the center of the arena (or at least heading towards it) then spinning.. they wont just spin in the start positions :)

Well give it a go, I think itll be okay.. like I said its to shave the fine tuning process from AI'ing for these smaller tournaments (help get everything together much quicker). Dont worry Meltybrain AI will be allowed in CC5 :)

DSL realistic tournament, finally a proper MANLY tournament style :D

This comment is worth a +1 :P

CC5 is only SnS. But then I probably don't need the baseplate protection....

CC5 Isnt only SnS.. Just 1 part of the promotional tournament is :P

yes... i suggest using a small arena.

Except Clash Cubes 1 was held in the Combat Zone... which is the point of these mini tournaments :/

Im sure we'll manage fine..  :)

Im skeptical about how an all sns no meltybrain tournament would work, but ill enter :)

2 goals in mind... 1 to tribute CC1/SnSnSnS and also to make things as swiftly as possible.. Ill have CC5 for the complex AI stuff these are just quick tournaments to boost interest :)

But yes, part of me is a little skeptical hence the rumble format and the mention about possible bouncy walls.. to make it entertaining :)

Havent heard much from me huh? But I have been brewing this one in the pipeline for some time

This year marks a 5th year milestone for both myself and one of the most popular tournaments to hit GTM, Clash Cubes. So after 2 years of absence... the cubes are coming back!!

---------------------------------------------
Clash Cubes 1 summed up in one word? SnSnSnS... Somebody unleashed this beast and it didnt disappoint, ripping apart every single opponent in its path and becoming a well known icon in the process, so to celebrate Clash Cubes 1 from back in 2009, this Tournament will be HW SnS.

Weight:
Its going to be DSL 2.1 Heavyweight, Bots can weigh no more then 800.0kg.

Construction:
Realism Rules: No part can intersect another part that couldn't have a slot cut in it in real life. Example: Spinner blade passing through armour plate or chassis=OK. Spinner blade passing through wheel or battery=Not OK. There is a small margin of tolerance, though. If a spinner blade just nicks a motor or something, that's OK. Basically this rule is just intended to stop burst-enhanced overlapping spinners like you see in stock RA2.

Glitches in the game may be exploited as long as they do not violate the above conditions.

no AI parts or Cheatbot 2 only what is found in the bot lab of a "clean" DSL 2.1 copy

All Robots MUST be an SnS robot type (Hybrids are permitted, such as HS)

And all Robots Chassis must be a cube shape of any size, this means a square base, square top and equal height (so the bigger your base the higher your bot)

I will AI any bots that need it but if you do know how to AI please do, no Meltybrain stuff however, this tournament is purely FBS_1 or others that use the same base coding.

Smartzones  may be used including custom ones(so long as you send along the files)  however they may only be used for the purposes of AIing no other use will be excepted.

No BFE or AAM everything must be done inside the bot lab
with exception to chassis skinning.

My Skirt hinge collision fix will be utilised in this tournament rendering "Narmour" useless.

Multibot/Clusterbot:
Multibots or Clusterbots not allowed due to the rumble format

Format:
The arena will be The Combat Zone (Same as CC1 however with a new skin) Ill do some testing and I may add some bounce to the walls too

The format will be a 9 Robot Bracket made up of 3 Rumbles and then a Final

All matches will be 3mins each.

All Entries are final given this is only a small mini tournament, so no updates or anything.. want these to move along pretty quick.

Havok's grant you a do-over the first time however more then once in the match and your robot will be removed from the rumble.

The Tour kicks off on my own 5th Anniversary of being here! 23rd of January

---------------------------------------------

Entrants:

1) COOLRUNNER87
2) Kurt Wylde
3) MassimoV
4) HurricaneAndrew
5) akshaylan
6) rnifnuf
7) TBD Devastator
8) Thyrus
9) senstro
