Here is a region free upload of the fight for non US people

http://eachvideo.com/watch?v=0Q7nZlcOlkg

Agreed about it becoming a somewhat famous match, The Selfrighting using the disc as an anchor was really cool and thats probably the biggest fireball in a mainstream televised Robot Fight.

They are silly to region lock it really.. that match has a lot of mainstream appeal / exposure for casual viewers

The nostalgia trip was fun last year but how sweet is it to see warhead as a bot to beat again.. even has the proper "death whine" now!

I think Warhead vs Minotaur will be a lot more brutal then Poison Arrow vs SOW

Shame to see SOW drop out, Similar to Warrior last year, the Whyachi robots can dish out massive damage but not able to take hard knocks themselves.

What a fantastic series so far, load of action and a bunch of upsets.. Presenters are all on point right now too, Battlebots is rockin' it.

I always felt the minibots were (in most cases) just for fun and not all that effective but SOW's strategy is brutal

New Updates...

Robot Arena 2 (Stock)
• Much Leaner.. Game its ~250mb smaller then the previous release
• Download now ~160mb, down from previous 400mb
• Now incorporates Core system fonts to prevent any issues
• New Icon because why not

Robot Arena DSL 2
• It exists, Download link in the first post of this thread
• Also running the leaner size, a bit bigger then stock but still much smaller then the original release a month ago

Robot Wars Mod
• Port has been fully done and tested.. another ready to run download
• Download link coming soon.. its pretty hefty in size (similar to the RTR windows version at 1.8Gb) so I just need the time to upload it

In general.. the game still hates AI modifications so ready to run ports are the only option right now until I can solve it.. it will accept everything else but crashes when you mess with the AI

I don't think they will use the T-Rex head in serious fights.

I guess time will tell, I am curious if the head has another purpose.. Simon and Ian are very crafty. Love their work either way.

Well I know im late to the party but I finally got this running nicely on Mac..

Props to the whole team involved this is an amazing mod, realistically the game fans probably deserved back in the height of Robot Wars popularity

Details are spot on too.. I even managed this in the first 30 seconds of the match..

The new Warhead design seems to have all the showmanship of razor but without the lethal blow.. I am curious to see if it fairs strongly against spinners.. their has to be more to it then cool looks?

I am so pumped to see Son Of Whyachi back.. Warrior is really cool but I prefer the excessive amounts of brute force,

Discussion / Re: 1.4 Patch
« on: June 12, 2016, 08:01:07 PM »
Who made this piece of sh**?

I decided to install RA2 when I realized that all of you will still be light years ahead with RA3 for the mere fact that you've been thinking about building concepts at all in the last decade.

Anyway, this 1.4 "patch" just dumps the freaking AI component folders into the root RA2 folder, cluttering everything up. We were doing this mod and creating preview pics for them way back in the day, pretty sure RFS might have had something that did it. but we knew how to do it without making a mess and putting folders where they should effing go.

Hey HX, It was me who made this piece of sh** some 6 years ago :)

I havent installed the patch in said 6 years but I believe all you need to do is move the separate component folders into.. the components folder? (crazy right?)

Then the compiled .cfz folder in the root directory will overwrite the previous stock one and enable the components

The only reason the additional folders are placed in the game is so they may finally have preview images.. (so it is an optional step)

It was the simplest way to have the .rar provide both the patched .cfz and the component folders in one hit.. minimal user input isnt too hard to ask is it?

Here is a link for your convenience if you want to give it another whirl.. https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/RA2_Patch_V14.rar

-Noticed that smartzones are still hidden = 1.  Went to fix this myself. Forgot how to play with makecfl and Lu-Tze's GUI version is paining me because it won't let me select all text files in a folder, I highlight them all, and press add files and still only one file is added. Is there a windows legacy mode I can run this in to resolve or was it always broken and I don't remember?

This isnt without reason too, the original smartzone is rather awful compared to Madiaba's custom set, so id be downloading those too... uh although those will require user input also :)

Happy modding!

Just wanted to say this is great and I have yet to experience any major issue.

Your welcome :) Glad to see some more Mac users coming out of the woodwork..

However while on the subject of mods I've had trouble implementing my own. I've found the files we're all familiar with in Contents>wineprefix>drive_c>winebottler and I can add stuff to the Components folder just fine, but the game crashes when adding to the AI or Arenas folders (have only messed with those 3 so can't really comment on any other files/folders). Do you know of any other files/folders you have to edit to get it to work properly?

Its happy enough to accept components in testing and edits to the UI...

Im yet to try any AI Packs, yet though.. the main focus has been porting the main games over first.

Let me play a little over the weekend and ill see what result I find

Let me know what specific packs your trying to install too?

Updates!

• I found a way to integrate "Tahoma font" into the emulation (Along with any other system fonts we may need) so I should have a corrected version live soon.

• I also shaved around ~250mb of bloatware from the package making the .app a lot slimmer

• New icons.. because why not?

• Brace yourself... DSL is coming!

Next step.. Port over Backlash... oh wait

Damn.. There goes that quick fix.. A copy of "Tahoma Normal" may be a starting point font wise?

Okay, as a trial here is a font patch for the event repairs (a few parts of UI need patches but we'll test this first)

It contains a modified repairs.gib and an alias to quickly drop it in the right spot (Providing RA2 is in your applications folder)

Okay cool, Yeah thats section is definitely calling the system fonts, Ill look into editing it to use its own internal fonts instead.

Mine didnt have that issue so its solvable with the right font.. but what that is specifically I do not know, plus fonts can be a bit of a minefield..

Yeah thats the main thing im thinking.. since 27 inch screens probably didn't exist at RA2's birth lol

Can you remember what bits had text issues? RA2 uses its own font in places but occasionally it requests a system font

Unless the game is trying to locate the XP fonts folder in which case I might need to see if it will like using one of its own fonts instead..

Okay thanks.. Ill look into it..

I only briefly tested full screen but seemed alright.. could be a screen size thing though, I tested it on a 13inch Macbook, Where as im assuming your iMac was 24 or 27 inch.

Font one is new though.. cant say I ever saw that error.. Im wondering if its an issue I avoided by having Microsoft Office on my Mac's (since that does bundle a reasonable amount of windows fonts)
