I just came here to see a photo of the logo on a sofa chair... was not disappointed With regards to tournaments, how do you expect a large one on the scale of CC/BBEANS to function when nobody even enters?
This is a valid point.. A major tournament isnt on my radar right now but I wouldnt even think about running another proper Clash Cubes unless I was confident I could utilise a 64 bot bracket with at least minimal byes.. anything too far backward from previous entry lists would basically tarnish the special feeling and history of CC or BBEANS. Id much rather run a new idea to cater for the 16 of so dedicated entrants But I can see the general point in this topic so Ill stick around and do whatever I can to help boost this website... whatever that may end up being

You know what needs to happen? A drone needs to actually do something of significance.
The issue seems to be flamethrowers create its own propulsion which tends the throw the drones off course a bit before they get enough time to properly burn anything.. I dont know what weapon you could put on them as a spinning weapon would do much the same id imagine. Really id only see dropping entanglement weapons / nets as an effective option.. but they are of course outlawed.

I dunno, PP3D should be a force to be reckoned with. PP3D vs Apollo/Eruption Heat Final is my prediction.
PP3D looks like it will be a decent weapon but pinballing and finding the pit is a high risk.. could very well end up the same way as supernova

"...we fitted our Anti Spinner Weapon - but the Hypno boys raised an official objection, and we were prevented from using it, as it was viewed according to the rules as a defensive addition rather than an offensive weapon..." — Team Tornado
IIRC the anti crush web was required to "support the spinning weapon" as a means of working around..
It always bothered me because it just took no skill to win that match.. when you really think about it.. the amount of driving talent for Simon & Ian to take out the weapon and pick it up was far greater then tornado plodding around.
Anywho, everyone back on topic now :)
Im predicting an Eruption v Storm 2 Heat final

Since the old youtube channel that hosted all my tournaments went down many years ago I decided to start a thread uploading old content as I pull it from my archives.
So first up the final from the largest tournament I ever held (and possibly the second largest is GTM history?) at 60 Entrants, CCIV
DSL 2.1 Lightweight in the Clash Cubes Arena.
More to come :)

I always liked Mike from the old series but I thought the new DTK team were great entertainment myself.. driving could use some improvement though haha, DanTomKia is one of those robots you need to be pretty accurate with given the smaller setback arm..
Also, curious.. why was it so cold? is that to do with the weather? or the venue itself? does anyone know?

It actually played to the arena's hazards perfectly.. Ill reupload some old CC matches sometime and everyone can see a little history :)

This tournament was DSL 2.1 SnS only.. hence the tacky pun. :) Clash Cubes 1 (and to an extent CC2) was dominated by Somebody's (the user) SnS hybrid. This tournament was originally a celebration of the 5 year anniversary of Clash Cubes 1 (which is now 6.5) I mean tiny tiny chassis like this aren't very good for popups or rammers really, but are well suited to SnS and VS and sometimes HS too.
Funny enough CC3 was won by a front hinge flipper and CC4 was won by a pop-up Clash cubes concept was always designed to promote external construction given a tiny cube is the only real efficient shape. "Out of the box thinking" if you want some more puns :P

Wow I didnt realise this was a 2014 Tournament.. I thought it was just last year My tournament hosting in the last few years has turned to shambles, My apologies to everyone who built bots for this only to see it fall into the archives.
Its been a crazy life the last few years, long story short; Building an Online Business, Building a House, Purchasing a Physical/Local Company and the Passing of a close family member. Combined with the fact I only got RA2 running 100% on Mac 2 months ago. So this is my attempt to make things right, because if their is 1 thing I dont want.. that is to drag CC's prestige through the mud with an aborted tournament. Ive dug through all my PM's and my computer archives and finally imported all the robots and taken pics for the splash (which is now in the first post) Ive also made the skin for the Combat Zone, its fairly simple but tributes CC1's arena skin nicely Give me a little bit to find my feet with the AI but I hope to have some videos up really soon!

This episode was probably the best yet really, I actually enjoyed it.
Finally! Dara is cracking jokes and making the show more fun. The narration still has to go.. replace it with the hosts talking face to face with the camera like they do around the final matches.. it looks so much better.
This episode was still really competitive but I agree with the timeframes resulting in a lot of untested robots.
On that note.. im not totally up to date but roaming robots live tour was full of robots wasnt it? is their something im missing? why do we have MDF robots built 5 days before the competition and not so many of the proven, solid robots from the circuit? licensing issues? or have they all since retired?

Its quite heartbreaking to see warhead out but how much of a big fight feel did that have?, I knew it would be a case of whoever puts a foot wrong first.. Both robots are capable of hanging with each other but that little moment of warhead tipping over sideways was all Minotaur needed, I honestly thought they were going to run with the arms firmly on the ground to match the stability of minotaur.
I think Bronco 100% will need to box rush Minotaur, its spinup time is actually a little flawed as warhead seemingly took half the time to spin up. They need to be out for blood next match and start throwing robots against the lexan again, super lucky to get a robot to balance on its side,
Hypershock was waaay over confident in that fight.. wedge or no wedge weapon on weapon contact was always going to end in tears for someone.
Bombshell im loving more and more as the series goes on.. some bad luck with the weapon drive failing but glad they got through.. some cool out the box thinking going on with that team
Also.. hows that for the rise of the vertical spinner? I know its always been a popular weapon but in years gone past it was always the HS that was king but now 2 of the tournaments (and robot combat in general) most destructive HS robots have fallen to drums.

I get television ratings but why stack heat A with Razer, Terrorhurtz, Behemoth and Carbide and leave heat B scratching a little?
All in all this episode was surprisingly paced better then the first so some improvements in post production there,
Angela is starting to find her feet in the role and doing really well, Dara seems like a nice guy but he still just isnt exciting enough... Robot Wars need their own Faruq right before battles
Ive not mentioned this yet but I quite like the new arena, its nice and fresh and easier to see the action and little bits and pieces bounce off the robots
Seemingly turning up the crowd mic's for this one gets a big plus from me too
I love the new Matilda too.. looks so sleek and purposeful looking now.. I totally didnt realise the whole head bucks on this version
I have more confidence they are heading in the right direction, Battlebots is just hitting all the notes perfectly this year making it hard.

I said it at the end of season 1.. having the fan favourite / super destructive robot loose to a strong boxy defensive robot isnt a good look to the casual audience.. Same situation as robot wars series 6 that resulted in the politics of series 7. That said though I cant really pick much fault with this series, I think its been awesome.. Lock-Jaw deserved to loose imo, you can just put a block of metal on the front of your robot and rotate in circles blocking everything, if you play the defense game you need to still be able to push opponents around and utilise the hazards Tombstone v. Brutus: RIP Brutus.. that little disc isnt going to do much here, lots of nice edges on the bodywork to rip away
Nightmare v. beta: once the hammer gets in the way of the disc I can see Nightmare at least loosing the belt/drive to the weapon, Johns also looks to be getting a lot more confident in the driving of beta, its been fun to watch the rise of the hammer bot once again
Chomp v. Bite Force: At this point I think its a bit of a miracle chomps got this far, too easy to topple which makes it easy picking for a VS
Mega Tento v. Yeti: chunks of the poor lady bug shell and going to be scattered around the place, Id love to see tento move on but I dont think itll happen.
Bronco v. Razorback: Bronco is another who seems to be getting into a groove when driving, they are getting quicker at picking points in the arena to get opponents stuck so its my pick here
Minotaur v. Warhead: Heart says Warhead, Head says Minotaur.. This will be edge of your seat stuff im on the fence here but as a team Razer fan, im backing the brits for this one
Red Devil v. Bombshell: If Bombshell can play the strategy right again itll do well, its hard to say without know what weapon it will use
Poison Arrow v. Hypershock: I think the wedge is the biggest factor here its Hypershocks to loose,

Wine, Winebottler, Some custom prefix settings and a few extra scripts included from what ive learnt and built off from trial and error.
Its nothing that fancy.. I started playing around with it just so I can play RA2 again.. no sense in keeping the results to myself though. :)
