some of you youngsters wont remember/ know this one

anyone else play it ? despite the now bad graphics I still love it and play it to this day.

for those who dont know you play as a ninja with a big arsenal of weapons from swords, shotguns, missile launchers, nuclear warheads or even your enemies head :P

I first played it on windows 95 but thanks to some user mods it can be played on XP + there is a heap of new user maps too

Other Tutorials / Adding New AI Teams
« on: May 26, 2010, 01:17:27 AM »
one skill on the top of many peoples want to know list

first crack open teams.txt in the AI folder

scroll right down to the bottom of the file

you will see a lot of the same stuff over and over again but what you want is just the last one so for Stock this is Team14

Code: [Select]
index 14
The Scrappers
"We are scrap parts specialists."
AI\the_scrappers.bmp
Robots: 0 1 2
Robot In Event: -1

you need to highlight from index 14 right to the bottom of the page so you have selected what appears above (or you can copy and paste the above one)

make sure your curser is at the bottom of the file and paste so you get this result

Code: [Select]
index 14
The Scrappers
"We are scrap parts specialists."

now thats in you have the team coding.. all you have to do is change it to make it work.. easy

simply follow the green and dont touch any red stuff, note: the writing in the brackets tells you what to do dont add that

Quote
index 15 (change this to the next number, all teams should be in numerical order)
The Scrappers (The Team Name)
"We are scrap parts specialists." (The Team Motto)
AI\the_scrappers.bmp (logo, this must be a 128x128 BMP in the AI folder)
Robots: 0 1 2 (robots in your team, each number identifies Bot0, etc. you dont need to change this unless you want less robots then spaces)

once you done simply make a folder called Team and then the number you wrote in for the index then start sticking robots and bindings in.nothing special much be done with bindings just the same as normal put them on there own line.[/color]

Other Tutorials / Before you Attack The GMF
« on: April 06, 2010, 12:49:47 AM »
we have been getting a bucket load of questions, I have counted about 6-7 in a week through pm and in tech support and I get the feeling people think the GMF is open attack once decompiled

the GMF is a "tread carefully" place, im not saying give up and dont try it.. but you must know what your doing before playing around in it

there is no need for me to make a new tutorial when a great one is sitting on clicks site perhaps a little forgotten...

http://beetlebros.gametechmods.com/modding.htm#gmffile

make sure you read up on what each part of the GMF does so you know what you can and cant do when in there

best of luck

General Support / How Do I Make New Reskins?
« on: April 04, 2010, 10:40:51 PM »
Sparkey your PM inbox is full, you need to clear it out to receive more messages

IfI were to copy a compoents file, re-name it, and make a new skin, andput it in components, would it come up as a new compoentn?

there is more steps to it then that

you need to copy the folder and text file, renaming both and then editing the text file to point to the new folder

you then need to decompile the GMF edit the map file name and recompile... and rename the BMP in the map folder also

then you will have a new component

Discussion / DSL's Most Durable
« on: February 24, 2010, 01:00:03 AM »
some of you text file wizards can help me out here.. I know some already but a complete list would be helpful

can someone please tell me the best Kg-Hp ratio parts in DSL (only normal legal stuff) and there attributes (figures/ numbers)?

for extenders (normal building extenders)
Motors (dont bring power/ speed into the equation)
wheels (dont worry about grip)
weapon (same deal, don't worry about damage)
Armour piece

Thanks

Discussion / Funny Points Glitch
« on: January 17, 2010, 09:52:40 AM »
ever get sick of loosing those matches against AI robots by points ?

ever wish your could just have a higher total for once ?

the solution....

I found a funny game glitch involving.. yup you guessed it fire.

yeah that's right turns out fire keeps on points grabbing no matter if the game is paused with the menu or pause button, best of all doesn't use any precious air (or fuel)

Modifications / Clash Cubes AI 1.2 Patch
« on: December 15, 2009, 11:03:23 PM »
that's right, CCAI 1.2 has been released, before I let you know whats different about it lets just go through a few install instructions

fair point, how do we install?

both links will lead you to mega upload same as a lot of downloads here, simply download the rar

for those downloading the compete CCAI 1.2 extract and copy over all files into a clean copy of DSL 2.1

for those downloading the Patch to bring your CCAI to v1.2 extract and copy over all files into folder containing your CCAI 1.0 or 1.1

Then your done

ok so what is new in 1.2 ?

 The Clash Cubes Arena is available in Exhibition
 The Qualifying Arena is also available in Exhibition
 Game On has a new team logo
 The UI has various tweaks and changes

awesome I want a copy of this

ok there are two links below one is for the full version of the AI pack for those putting it on a clean DSL 2.1, the other one is for those wanting to just update there CCAI v1.0 or v1.1 (1.2 has the 1.1 patch installed already)

CCAI 1.2 Complete for Installing on a clean DSL 2.1

CCAI 1.2 Patch for Installing on a CCAI 1.0 or 1.1 to update it

CCAI 1.2 Fix for Clash Cubes 3 Arena

(for use ONLY if you installed with the .exe version, apply to either version after installing 1.2. NOT required for the .rar version)

Weight:

Its going to be DSL 2.1 Middleweight, Bots can weigh no more then 398.9kg.

Construction:

Nopart can intersect another part that couldn't have a slot cut in it inreal life. Example: Spinner blade passing through armor plate orchassis=OK.Spinner blade passing through wheel or battery=Not OK.Thereis a small margin of tolerance, though. If a spinner blade just nicks amotor or something, that\'s OK. Basically this rule is just intended tostop burst-enhanced overlapping spinners like you see in stock RA2.

Glitches in the game may be exploited as long as they do not violate the above conditions.

bewary however as you will only get one do over for the whole tournamentif YOUR own robot has a havok that effects the outcome for itself, thereis also one match do over if YOUR bot causes a havok that effects theOPPONENT bot

no AI parts or Cheatbot 2 only what is found in the bot lab of a "clean" DSL 2.1 copy

And all Robots Chassis must be a cube shape of any size, this means a square base, square top and equal height (so the bigger your base the higher your bot)

I will AI any bots that need it but if you do know howto AI please do, any custom .py files are ok as long as they are sentalong with the bindings and only achieve a means of what would benormally possible

Smartzones may be used including customones(so long as you send along the files) however they may only be usedfor the purposes of AIing no other use will be excepted

No BFE or AAM everything must be done inside the bot lab

All Robots Must Show Controlled Movement

Additional Legal Components

PowerPulse Battery - Legal For Somebody, MikeNCR, Condor33, Naryar, SSG, Man Manu,
Deadly Extender - Legal For Clickbeetle, Urjak
Hell's Hammer - Legal For Somebody, MikeNCR, Condor33
Petrol Weapon Motor (compulsory inclusion of a petrol tank) - Legal For Somebody, MikeNCR, Condor33, R1885,
EMC-RT Weapon Motor - Legal For SSG
EMC-RT Drive Motor - Legal For SSG

Multibot/Clusterbot:

Multibots or Clusterbots are allowed if you wish to make one, the rules are

limited to only 2 "parts"

both parts must be in the same weight class (including AW and BW)

both parts combined must not exceed 398kg

the whole robot will be eliminated if 50% of the weight is knocked out

Format:

The arena will be The Clash Cubes Arena (which will be available soon)

The format will be a Championship, with a total of 7 smaller tournaments of 24 (with byes).

you will compete in 2 of the first 4 brackets and gain points for each round win.

after the first 4 brackets the number of robots in contention will be cut down to only 8

there will then be another 2 brackets of 24 (with byes) which each person will compete in 1 each

after those 2 the contenders will be cut again to only 4

then it will be the championship bracket with only the top 16 robots are entered

if you are no longer in contention you still will compete in brackets as a chance to "upset" those fighting for the championship

AI

as said before custom .py's are not an issue otherwise please specify what .py you wish me to use if you are not able to AI yourself (if you can please do)

if you do not know the best AI give me a brief description of what you want it to do and I will work out a suitable one for your needs
;)

Real Robotics Discussion / Storm 2 Nearly Never Was..
« on: December 02, 2009, 11:10:47 PM »
I just did a bit of internet reading about and found that robot wars did not originally want storm 2.. yeah im not joking

robot wars didnt want robots with out weapons as they were considered boring ???

battlebots excepted them however but shortly after comedy central pulled the plug on the show

Storm 2 team applyied for the New Blood in robot wars but there was a mix up and the picture Robot Wars saw was storm 1 (a hydraulic crusher) so they were excepted in

when they arrived with storm 2 the team were almost turned around however they fortunately were allowed to enter

for series 7 they were told they could only enter if they had a weapon as storm 2 was too boring (seriously ?)

source: team storm's website http://www.teamstorm.com/storm2/newblood.htm

apparently the team are making a new robot
