Now I have drawn up concepts for the arena and am planning it all out now before it goes into production..

CCfive will be 64 bot, double elimination like CCIV only I dont know what to do for the bots themselves..

So lets hear your suggestions for game versions/ weight classes and the most popular ones will go to a poll

Nominations

- Restart the Cycle (DSL HW)
- Stock HW (Standard Stock Rules)
- Stock HW (using the largest chassis possible that is a cube.)
- DSL HW (Tank Treads Locomotion Only)
- Stock MW (Hax Mode Allowed)
- DSL HW (Hovercrafts)
- DSL (Multibot's)
- DSL (Shuffle/Walker Bots)

Off-Topic Discussion / DIY Hardware modding?
« on: July 03, 2011, 07:54:17 AM »
Ok so im getting sick of low end gaming, I run games through

http://canyourunit.com/

And my computer meets the games I want to play in all departments except graphics card.

It doesnt take an expert to figure out this is due to the fact I have no Graphics card :P Only the onboard graphics chipset.

Now I was going to take this to a computer store empty my wallet and walk out poor with a new graphics card, but I found then dirt cheap and brand new on eBay.. the catch.. I have to DIY install.

Now I am pretty sure I know how to do it but I need to know from some guru's.. Does the on-board stuff cause problems? I mean like.. if I was just upgrading my card, you uninstall the driver, pull the card out, stick the new one in, install the driver and your good to go..

How do you do it with onboard? do you need to remove anything or if there a free sport asking for something to be plugged in..

Off-Topic Discussion / Key Mapping utility?
« on: June 20, 2011, 10:11:50 AM »
Does anyone know of a key mapping program/ utility?

I just brought a PS2 to PC controller adapter but some games wont accept the controller (only keyboard/ mouse) so I was wondering if there was a program around to read controller buttons as keyboard buttons?

so example, if I had the arrow buttons on the PS2 controller act as the WSAD letter keys?

I had something like this for my steering wheel on the PS2, were I could set the pedals as X or Square, etc manually encase a game wasn't compatible..

Site News and Feedback / Keep the pony's in the pony thread..
« on: June 15, 2011, 06:38:41 AM »
I am tired of seeing pony picture responses in every single thread,

I know it sounds picky but the problem is, its a horrible bandwagon, once a person does it once another person thinks its ok to put one in every showcase.

So no more pony pictures in any thread within the RA2 section / Tournament section

Offending posts will be deleted and the poster given an added 10% warn level..

Challenge Board / This Place is now Clean
« on: May 01, 2011, 09:34:17 AM »
It took an hour and a half but its clean

This place was massively neglected and looked like a dogs breakfast... (No offense Sage)

You will notice the new discussion topic, deletion in the rules / leader board topic and a lot of locked topics

Here how it works from here..

-----------------

* Leaderboard is allowed comments but will be regularly cleaned out so Scorps isnt in a mess (LMK whenever you want it cleaned Scorps)

* All completed topics were renamed and closed, In future once challenges are completed they are to be renamed in the following format..

<Username> vs <Username> (<Username Wins>)

Usernames should be exactly how they appear on the forum (no abbreviations, etc) and Everything to be in the correct casing as above (no putting everything in caps)

This is just to keep it all neat and really legible for people that must process results.

Everyone please do your part to keep this nice and tidy, once a challenge is completed and renamed as above the thread will be locked to signify this (Any staff free free to help out in this area)

Thanks for reading..

Custom Components Showcase / TO READ : SHOWCASE RULES
« on: January 17, 2011, 02:42:31 AM »
ENFORCED RULES

-Each member gets ONLY ONE showcase per game mod. This includes 1 Stock, 1 DSL, 1 Custom, 1 Ironforge. This to keep things simpler and cleaner. If you have an old showcase, do not recreate a new thread : reuse your old thread.

-Do not delete your showcase unless you have a very good reason for it. Clean it up if it is full of bad posting.

-Making a showcase specifically for an event or tournament is fine. These are to be used by anyone, unlike individual showcases.

-Do not post your bots in another member's showcase, you have a showcase, use it. Exceptions: communal showcases for events or tournaments and using your bots as an example.

-Post a bot in the correct showcase. If it has custom components or is both stock and DSL, post it in your custom showcase. If it is only stock, post it in stock. Etc. This for clarity.

-When posting a bot, post only light picture formats (.png and .jpg allowed, NO BMPs). No thumbnails or links to pictures, if you are going to include an image of your bot it MUST be directly accessible. Also crop your pictures (see thread https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,2143.0.html, thanks to Scrap). This to keep loading times to a minimum.

POSSIBLE OFFENSES AND WHAT YOU RISK

- Do NOT spam. You will first get you a warning, then if you do it again you will be warned or even muted. Mass spamming will  get you permanently banned. Spam includes any excessive repetition of images or characters, or anything else that is repeated and disruptive.

- Insulting, flaming or trolling is not tolerable and you will be warned or even muted for doing it. Trash talk is notably tolerated in the event of tournaments or contests, but it should not be excessive.

- Excessive amounts of off-topic will get you in trouble. Some amount of off-topic is tolerated in showcases, but most of the time when a moderator happens into a showcase and says that's enough off-topic, you should not post off-topic.

- Do NOT start or participate in flame wars. Arguing and criticism is something we encourage on showcases, but you can argue without throwing insults at other people. All people participating in a flame war will be warned and the worst offenders will be muted. If you are found to create multiple flame wars in there you will just be banned.

-Do NOT bring flame war bait from other parts of the forum, especially Playground but any other part counts. Playground shenanigans is to be kept in playground, showcases are for posting bots and comments about these bots.

- No bump whacking. Bump whacking is blaming someone just because that member has made a "bump" (a post in a thread that stopped being active since a while) and when the bump is relevant and on-topic. If the bump is irrelevant and off-topic, then it is not bump whacking. This is a minor offense, you will not get muted for it except in extreme cases.

- Bad building advice can and will get you into trouble if you do it too often, if experienced people tell you "your advice is bad" then stop posting advice. Do not post if you are unsure about your advice or cannot give decent advice ! For most people, there is a builder that is better at RA2 and giving advice than you. Let them teach the newcomers correctly instead of giving low quality advice. If I see you are a repeated offender at bad advice I will just start to delete your bad advice, no questions asked.

GUIDELINES

-If you want good, detailed advice, avoid posting too much bots at once. While there is nothing inherently wrong with a bot dump, each bot will never receive as much advice as one bot at a time. Talking from experience.

-When posting a bot, please give info that we can't guess, like weight, armor, the components that we can't see fully... unless you are into a tournament and want to hide some tings.

-For a majority of them, people with colored usernames give good building advice. It does not mean however than all non coloured users do not give good advice, just that on average colored usernames are more knowledgeable and will give higher quality advice.

-If you want to give good advice... it mostly comes from RA2 experience. If you know you have been given advice from a reliable source (like veterans and advanced users) it is in most cases true. Anyways, you should at least be a decent builder and have a few months of experience with RA2 before giving advice.

Thank you.

Modifications / Narmour Be Gone!!
« on: January 15, 2011, 12:59:15 AM »
Narmour Be Gone!! is a fix for DSL 2.1 to remove the cheaty collision mesh from the Skirt Hinge component.

The following piece is still custom and as such you will need to specify its use in your tournaments ruleset. This is free use and encouraged, no extra permissions needed, use it in all your projects just please dont take credit for it..

The Black axle will no longer collide with anything, It had to be done that way due to instant AGOD with a collision that was the same size as the axle... its either Narmour or no collision..

https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/9014skirts.rar

Just extract the .rar file and you will be given a folder called "skirts" and place the folder in your components folder.. be sure to overwrite when prompt and it will replace your old skirt hinge

Modifications / AI Parts + Previews + 140cm Extender
« on: December 14, 2010, 01:11:35 AM »
Disclaimer

The following is listed as an UNOFFICIAL 1.4 patch for Robot Arena 2 Stock, the patch contains the controversial 140cm square extender. It is included for your convenience and enjoyment and in no way am I calling it a standard part, please refer to all Tournament rule-sets regarding its legalities and showcase at your own risk (:P)

the following is a self installing .exe which will modify your stock robot arena game to include:

AI parts (used by AI robots but were never made visible in the original release)
Hidden Parts (parts within the game but were never made visible in the original release)
Preview images for those missing them (custom made by myself)

the patch will NOT affect compatibility with any other game, all 1.3 and u1.4 games and robots will compatible with each other.

https://gametechmods.com/uploads/files/RA2_Patch_V14.rar

Please enjoy my efforts and not shoot it down like the last time, its not an official patch (you will notice its written as "u1.4")
