Off-Topic Discussion / Drag Racing
« on: July 23, 2009, 06:50:22 AM »
I seem to be making a few new topics in the Auto section... lets just say its right up my alley :-D

Drag Racing is my most favorite sport to watch no matter how much people criticize it I cant get enough of it... as a hobby I take photos at the Western Australia Drag Strip, I post them up on my website http://www.fastmotionphotos.com... so I figured it would be cool to start a topic for discussion :-D

Clash Cubes 2 Splash / Showcase

Grand Final

Grindhouse vs Xenophobik Resurrektion *****
its here the final encounter, Xenophobik Resurrektion lost to Super SnS, Super SnS lost to Grindhouse how will this pan out, the predictions are slightly in favor of Grindhouse...two very destructive and very mobile robots... this is DSL at its best, an epic encounter and the robots can deliver the goods. both are capable of winning the second the other puts a foot wrong. Hold on for one last time as Clash Cubes 2 goes off with a BANG!

Finals

Grindhouse vs Super SnS *****
the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object.. I know you have heard that before but seriously.. Grindhouse is an unstoppable force overcoming loads of odds, beating Shinigami with no wheels, defeating 2 heavyweight multibots and even taking out the feared Bladewave. Super SnS is truly an immovable object despite a few battle losses somebody's series of SnS bots have racked up an amazing 7-0 match streak with 12 battle wins. so sit down and hold on for one of the most explosive matches in Clash Cubes history (I wish I could give it 6 stars)

Winner: Grindhouse :O

Xenophobik Resurrektion vs Cube Of Pure Evil *****
a little bit of lag but a really good match, moments that would keep you looking closer. full of those nail biting times where robots barely escape elimination. a good way to end the losers bracket but who will be heading to the grand final ? the huge daunting COPE or one of the most potent VS robots in clash cubes history.

Winner: Xenophobik Resurrektion

Losers Bracket - Semi Finals

Xenophobik Resurrektion vs Faaip De Oiad *****
it has been a while but yes another 5 has been cracked, basically action all the way no point did robots sit pinned in the corner, plenty of destruction but no lag or havoks present. and the twist at the end of battle 2 is the icing on the cake.

Winner: Xenophobik Resurrektion

Destiny vs Cube Of Pure Evil **
two SnS's were never really going to make something big.. in fact I cut out the first minute of the bots doing nothing before they reached each other but the points count is interesting ... a cookie to who ever guesses what happened with them.

Winner: Cube Of Pure Evil

Semi Finals

Super SnS vs Hellish Charm ***
two SnS robots was never going to make a 5 star match, not terribly exciting through the whole match but the times when the robots find each other the action heats up. a nice surprise you find out is that one of these bots can Mauler Dance

Winner: Super SnS

Grindhouse vs Bladewave ****
business is starting to pick up, this match is really on the edge of your seat stuff with twists and turns not to mention the constant points lead change but dont worry about missing something the lag will help you out... in fact that's why this match didn't make 5 stars with 2 additional minutes to the total video time due to lag

Winner: Grindhouse

Match Reviews - Losers Bracket Round 2

Shinigami vs Faaip De Oiad ***
2 personal favorites of mine, the small compact Faaip taking on the huge daunting Shinigami...both found each others sweet spots fairly easily to make a nice way to kick off the losers bracket once again.

Winner: Faaip De Oiad

Dark Matter vs Xenophobik Resurrektion ****
VS vs VS (sounds a bit complicated) how about Wedges vs No Wedges?? but dont go thinking this match is a done deal because of that fact,  Xenophobik Resurrektion has been on a role with wins vis out of the arena and is determined to send Dark Matter out the same way..

Winner: Xenophobik Resurrektion

Sky High vs Destiny **
another match that looked more like a freestyle motocross show, Sky High determined to live up to is name decided to make an attempt to get out of the atmosphere this time but what happens when it falls on other robots ?? can destiny hold out the mother of all drop zones ?

Winner: Destiny

Total Controversy vs Cube of Pure Evil ***
what ever was total controversy's plan one thing was for sure... he would have to execute it as quickly as it dispatched GTFO Me or COPE would rack up to many points for TC to handle. a bit of lag here and there but a fairly good match.

Winner: Cube Of Pure Evil

Match Reviews - Round 3

Super SnS vs Mammoth ****
another fairly action packed match up, Mammoth was wiped out last time by an SnS and was determined to not let it happen again but would have to rely on the arena to stop the long unbeaten run of Somebody.

Winner: Super SnS

ScramJet vs Hellish Charm ***
flails typically gain more points then static weaponry so the only real option for ScramJet is to take out the drive underneath... but Hellish Charm would have to be careful as ScramJet is known for inducing Havoks in flails

Winner: Hellish Charm

The Trap Master & Decoy vs Grindhouse ***
the lag was a little annoying which is what reduced the star rating but a good match none the less... MikeNCR has been nicknamed things "GI Mike" but after this match "One Man Army" would be best suited.. against all odds Grindhouse was able to go full match times with the cluster bot.. expect a few surprises in this one

Winner: Grindhouse

BladeWave vs Exponential Decay ***
Laggy match but funny that there was a surprising lack of havoks...honorable mentions go to RA2 for being able to load that many razors and the CC2 janitor for doing a great job cleaning up the mounds of razors scattered across the arena.

Winner: BladeWave

Match Reviews - Losers Bracket Round 1

Shinigami vs 'Please Die' ****
not the most destructive we have seen but nice swift match's with very low dull points and 0% lag or havoks (just the way I like them) and it may just be me but I find Shinigami entertaining to watch

Winner: Shinigami

Timber vs Faaip de Oiad ***
pretty average match, not really edge of your seat stuff but at the same time no real boredom. not really much else to say but it did come down to wedges.

Winner: Faaip de Oiad

Dark Matter vs Lament Configuration ***
another match that came down to wedges, neither robot does do very well upside down which my result in its eventual demise. a fairly average match that was expected to last the full 2 minutes each time

Winner: Dark Matter

Xenophobik Resurrektion vs Mads Boxes True Form **
a battle of the vertical spinners, a warning to all viewers dont blink or you may miss the ending....the match didnt have any lag or havoks.. it just didn't last as long as we would have hoped.

Winner: Xenophobik Resurrektion

Bob & Bill vs Destiny ****
a really tight match that could have gone either way. Bob & Bill seemed determined to not loose to another SnS after there close loss to Super SnS in the first round

Winner: Destiny

Sky High vs HyperCube-2 ***
VS's have a history of flipping other robots and HyperCube has no sremech, but sky high has a history of its own... a history of living up to its name. fairly good action with a few close calls.

Winner: Sky High

Cube Of Pure Evil vs Head Chef **
Another SnS v shell spinner match up...unfortunately that means a dull match while the opposing bots take the time to find there opponent... I actually cut the first minute give or take when the robots took the time to get closer to each other.

Winner: Cube Of Pure Evil

Total Controversy vs GTFO Me ****
this match could have been 5 star had it gone longer. just when you thought Sky Highs self exit was impressive this match has the mother of all "throwing your opponent out of the arena" moments, This week has been the 40th anniversary of the moon landing and to celebrate one of these robots went out of orbit.

Winner: Total Controversy

Match Reviews - Round 2

Super SnS vs Bob & Bill ****
the longest streak in Clash Cubes 6-0, It was said this match wont be one not for the faint hearted but Bob & Bill appear to be on a mission to put a mark on Somebody's perfect record

Winner: Super SnS

Mammoth vs Dark Matter ***
fairly action packed match up, the intimidating Drums of Mammoth make the chassis a hard target meaning Dark Matter will have to resort to taking out the drive.

Winner: Mammoth

ScramJet vs Head Chef *
it was over before it began.. what started out looking like a good match was cut short. But rules are rules

Winner: ScramJet

Lament Configuration vs Hellish Charm ***
one of the biggest face spinners ever seen taking on the flail spinner, this match was fairly full of action spanning 3 matches, sorry Naryar but it contains a pit in this video

Winner: Hellish Charm

Faaip de Oiad vs Grindhouse ***
the match could have had a higher rating if the Lag didnt annoy me so much, the match was fairly average except for a few twists in the first match (hint watch to the right of the action replay carefully)

Winner: Grindhouse

The Trap Master & Decoy vs Cube Of Pure Evil ***
this match may have had a higher rating if not for the large amount of lag and perm havoks... nothing to decide the outcome but annoying none the less. despite the high amount of weaponry COPE had its hands full with this match.. but were the cluster bots worst enemy each other ?

Winner: The Trap Master & Decoy

Timber vs Exponential Decay ****
these to put of a good show, a killer spinner and one of the most unquire bots seen. the action was a little slow which is likely the only thing stopping a 5* match, they even made a Havok look better then normal, I will say match 1 you likely wouldn't see the ending coming.

Winner: Exponential Decay

Blade Wave vs 'Please Die' **
surprisingly slow match for 2 fast bots, 'please die' can not sustain any damage underneath but what happens it its inverted ? when all hope is lost some bots just decide to take them selves out of the match

Winner: Blade Wave

Match Reviews - Round 1

Super SnS vs Xenophobik Resurrektion ***
seeded 1 vs seeded 7, Xenophobik can strip away SnS's weaponry with ease but what happens if the DSL bars go ? This match fairly low on dull points and a good way to kick off

Winner: Super SnS

Mad Box's True Form vs Dark Matter ***
dont go thinking this will be one sided, lets just say one of these competitors will be glad its 2/3

Winner: Dark Matter

Head Chef vs Destiny **
a small chassis shell spinner basically makes it react like an SnS.... Destiny is also an SnS, this video is the smallest yet as I cut out the...nothing, its not all doom and gloom as the arena causes an early upset

Winner: Head Chef (barely)

GTFO me vs Hellish Charm **
well it all comes to points on this one but its not as boring as it sounds the lead changes at least 4 times in the video, but again it doesn't make up for the slow moving match.

Winner: Hellish Charm (only just)

Shinigami vs Grindhouse *****
the first five star match of the tournament, defiantly one to watch, surprises around every corner... just when you think one bot has the win some else will happen, The ending of the last match with have you frantically looking around the screen trying to figure out who won (btw its below this in white)

Winner: Grindhouse

Cube Of Pure Evil vs HyperCube-2 *
from five stars to one... to SnS's weren't exactly going to put on an epic show... the arena basically decided these matches as time was basically ran out by the time they reach each other

Winner: Cube Of Pure Evil

Total Controversy vs Exponential Decay ***
a much bigger improvement from the last match... Flipper that loves to strike the undersides of shell spinners vs a shell spinner that loves to eat the wedges of flippers.

Winner: Exponential Decay

'Please Die' vs Sky High **
it looked like a corigraphed flying trapies act with bots going all over the place, distpite to power of sky high was it more of a danger to itself or 'Please Die'

Winner: 'Please Die'

Match Reviews - Wild Card

Destiny vs Vipers Wrath ***
A nice match to kick off the tournament shows a good mix of the hazards in the arena, looked like it was going to be one sided to begin with but there is a big surprise in the closing part of the match.

Winner: Destiny

Mammoth vs Surprise! **
Two drum robots fighting it out, one thing is for sure neither wants to be the first one flipped, best point of the match would be the great self right by mammoth using the arena side wall.

Winner: Mammoth

Chain Of Impending DOOM vs B5-C Platnium Heart **
a little bit of a lackluster fight with neither bot able to push the other however the the ending is sure to drop a few jaws.

Winner: B5-C Platnium Heart

Destiny vs B5-C Platnium Heart ***
Blink and you may miss this one, despite the short time it is no means a one sided fight. A nail biting finish that could have gone either way.

Winner: Destiny

B5-C Platnium Heart vs Mammoth **
starts off as a good match but as the robots start coming apart the action decreases, the arena gets more involved to increase the action.

Draw (points are not a decider in the Wild Card Playoff)

Mammoth vs Destiny ****
This match was the best seen so far in this tournament, then again your wouldn't expect anything less from Sage and System32. plenty of action replays,

Tournament Archives / Clash Cubes 2 Plans
« on: May 21, 2009, 04:55:30 AM »
there are a lot of active tournaments running so this probably wont run until a few more finish but this is just a list of how the rules look and a discussion on what people think should be changed or added to it

Weight:

Its going to be DSL official super heavyweight, Bots can weigh no more then 1200kg. To achieve this an anti ballast will be required, please make note of the following

ALL anti ballasts must be removed prior to submission

You may use any anti ballast of your choice providing it serves only that purpose and follows the above condition

For those that want it I have a -400kg anti ballast that I made for this tournament, simply put ONE of these on your bot at the start of construction and build up to the maximum 800kg then remove it and your bot will be no more then 1200kg

Clash Cubes Anti Ballast (Internal)

Clash Cubes Anti Ballast (External)

Smart Zone Anti Ballast

Construction:

No part can intersect another part that couldn't have a slot cut in it in real life. Example: Spinner blade passing through armor plate or chassis=OK. Spinner blade passing through wheel or battery=Not OK. There is a small margin of tolerance, though. If a spinner blade just nicks a motor or something, that's OK. Basically this rule is just intended to stop burst-enhanced overlapping spinners and their ilk like you see in stock RA2.

Glitches in the game may be exploited as long as they do not violate the above conditions.

be wary however as you will only get one do over for the whole tournament if YOUR own robot has a havok that effects the outcome for itself, there is also one match do over if YOUR bot causes a havok that effects the OPPONENT bot

no AI parts or Cheatbot 2 only what is found in the bot lab of a "clean" DSL 2.1 copy

And all robots must be a cube shape of any size, this means a square base, square top and equal height (so the bigger your base the higher your bot)

I will AI any bots that need it but if you do know how to AI please do, any custom .py files are ok as long as they are sent along with the bindings

Multibot/Clusterbot:

multibots will be allowed in clash cubes 2 but will have to follow the following rules.

segments are limited to only 2 bots, no more

the bots maybe entirely different and/or use different bindings

If 50% of the weight is beaten the whole bot is out

Both parts of the cluster must be the same weight class (in this case heavyweight)

any other rules or strategies may be exploited as long as they do not violate the above conditions.

Format:

The arena will be a re skinned Robot wars arena

Robots will qualify against one of the following:  little cube, wild cube, mutt cube, necro cube, rubix cube, game cube or CFTW

In addition to one of the above you will also face either Monster cube or Aggro Cube

The 8 quickest robots in qualifying will gain a bye advantage for the first round

Multibots will have both “sub bots” fighting at once

Times will be judged in order of

1.   Quickest time to kill both robots
2.   Quickest time to kill one robot before becoming immobile
3.   Longest time surviving in the arena before becoming immobile
4.   Most points obtained

Wild Card Bracket

the matches will still be sudden death (1 round)

after that the 3 that go through will fight the others (which will make a total of 3 matches)

3 points for a clear win
0 points for a loss
1 point for a draw**

**points wins are counted as a draw in the wild card bracket only

The New "X" Bracket:

The "Wild Card" Bracket

Prizes

each person who makes it to the semi finals will gain a choice of one prize, after that each person will gain an additional prize selection for every match won (which means the highest possible to win is 3 selections) the first place qualifier will also gain 1 prize selection. All prizes are legal for use in the next clash cubes

Option 1 - A small battery that provides double the power of an antweight battery

Option 2 - A sawblade that has 8 attachment points for weapons, deals the same damage as a normal sawblade

Option 3 - A weapon that makes hammer bots more effective, can deal 3x the damage of a frenZy hammer

Option 4 - A 2 in 1 prize, a powerful motor and a fuel tank which is only needed for legality in Clash Cubes

your name will appear colored now, red if I have no bot, Green if your bot is AI'd in the game, yellow if your bot is waiting to be put into the game or be AI'd

since its gained what I would say sufficient interest im going to go ahead with it

Its going to be DSL heavyweight

Bots can weigh no more then 800kg

The fights will be one round only, no best out of…. Winner moves on

Realistic Rules Apply: No part can intersect another part that couldn't have a slot cut in it in real life.

Glitches in the game may be exploited as long as they do not violate the above conditions.

be wary however as you will only get one do over for the whole tournament if there is a havok explosion

And all robots must be a cube shape of any size, this means a square base, square top and equal height (so the bigger your base the higher your bot)

I would prefer "DIY - do it yourself" AI but if you cant I shall do the best I can

The arena will be a re skinned combat zone called the cube coliseum

Latest Picture

Im looking for 12 entrees and am going to run an “X” bracket (see below)

Robots will qualify against the robot “Little Cube” the quicker the kill the better the qualify

The 4 quickest robots in qualifying will gain a bye advantage for the first round

Prizes:

this is the prize pool as it stand now, the winner will get a choice of 2 of the following components, the runner up will get a choice of 1 of the following components

1. 2. 3. 4.

And every person who enters will receive a Power Cube (Motor)

Based on robots sent to me

1. Naryar
