$5. I got it. It's fun. It doesn't get bad FPS on my not-too-great computer. It's awesome. I'm better at it than CS:S (which isn't saying much).

Playing as Soldier at the moment.

Thoughts?

And also one of the hardest racing games out there, don't be fooled by the video.

Chatterbox / Anime...?

Seriously. I don't get it. What exactly is the appeal of people with headlight eyes and chins that could be used as tent stakes? And when they talk they're too lazy to make the mouth have more than 2 frames.

Someone explain what people like about these? Because this seriously freaks me out.

Do not start a flame war please. Thanks.

Chatterbox / Hometown driving!
« on: May 29, 2010, 10:57:31 PM »
Yeah so I was driving with my cousin home from a town ~30 miles away. It went fine, except nearly hitting a cat in the middle of the road.
So I was about 2 miles from home, but a Combine harvester fell of its trailer in the middle of the road, thus blocking the way home. So I had to go about 10 miles out of the way to get to my house.

Anyone else have this problem lately?

(I didn't know where to post this, move if I'm wrong)

Post all those crazy gadgets you came up with during algebra in this topic. Try not to be goofy or sarcastic if you please.

I had an idea for a semi-internet capable watch last sunday. Sounds stupid, but it could be on the market in the future (or maybe it is already...). :P

Please pardon my terrible paint rendition.

You got your screen in the middle obviously, with your selected App. The time is always on the top, after all it is a watch. The time would be via satellite (like cell phones), and if the signal gets cut out it takes over just automatically.
Use the buttons on the side to scroll for different apps, like the calendar or weather or something. To select it, press the upper-right button, and use the up/down/left/right buttons and the select button to navigate in the app. Press the upper-left button to go back to the main menu. Or you could always ditch the buttons and make a touch screen one instead. Now you might have noticed I said semi-internet capable. I say this because I think it would be pretty difficult to navigate a web page with 6 buttons all with a screen smaller than one inch. So I think it would have to download additional apps though something akin to the android market.

I also thought it would be neat to have either an addition onto this or a different watch with the ability to play MP3 files. It would have a headphone jack, or there might be some kind of tech that you could transmit to the ear-buds without needing a headphone jack. There would also be some way to download stuff to your watch from your computer via some kind of jack also.

Off-Topic Discussion / Favorite OS and why?
« on: March 05, 2010, 04:58:26 PM »
What operating system do you like best and why? Not just for RA2, mind you.

I myself, really have no preference between Macs and Windows. I think they're both good.

Macs are just way more expensive, so I generally stick to windows. Apple is smaller than MS and it even makes its own computers, so it's logical than they would charge more I suppose. I also LOVE the little CD slit instead of the spring loaded thingy on 90% of other computers. They also seem sleeker somehow (the computers and the OS). I like Macs a lot in general.

Windows I'm just used to, and it's cheaper. XP was ok, but my desktop just got really cluttered and slow after a while. Windows 7 just flat out rocks. Aero is awesome, W7 is faster, need I say more?

I've never tried Linux or anything. What about you?

BTW, please don't make this a flame war over which is better. Thanks.

Off-Topic Discussion / Chrome OS
« on: March 04, 2010, 11:27:34 AM »
I was just goofing around looking at computer tech junk and I came across this thing called Google Chrome OS. Not Google Chrome the Internet browser, but this-

Chrome OS

-a new operating system that should be released my the end of 2010. It apparently pretty much totally runs on the net itself, and it has crazy fast boot times (3-7 seconds! :O). It doesn't really save anything onto your computer, but it uses the net for everything, even stuff like GIMP, but I don't know how the heck that works. This not-save-anything-on-your-hard-drive thing also supposedly eliminates viruses but who knows. It is mainly meant to run on netbooks and stuff since it doesn't have the power of Windows 7/OS X etc, but it does look pretty snazzy. I heard somewhere it's for free....but I'm not sure if that's true. I think I'll stick to my Windows', but I'll be following this to see where it lands.

SPLASH

Voting closes Saturday 3/6/10, 12:00 Central USA time.

RULES:
You may vote for anyone but yourself. You can only vote 1 bot per award, you have to vote on all the awards, and you can nominate the same bot for multiple awards if you want. I have no problem with you editing your votes as long as they are done before the deadline.
The Criteria are:

Most N00bish bot: The bot that looks like it was dug out of a trash bin in a junkyard. (In other words- bad) It is not an insult, but an honor.

Favorite bot award: The bot who you thought looked cool, or you just like it for some reason.

Most original entry: Hmm...I've never seen one of those before...

The winners will get this handsome decal to put on their bots if there is a season 4. (The decal will be slightly different to foil your copying attempts >:P)

Good luck to all. Let the voting commence!

My Votes:

Most N00bish: Nutter (Stagfish)
Favorite: BOT OF ULTIMATE PERIL! (Craaig)
Most original: Riptillion (Sonny_Resetti)

Tournament Archives / GTM Olympics Discussion
« on: February 13, 2010, 12:30:35 PM »
Ok, I was watching the Olympics beginning thing lately, and I got an idea. I know Sage/Zog had some ideas for a “world tourney” thing a while back but it never took off. So I thought to take that a tiny bit further and make a full-fledged “RA2 Olympics” (or a DSLympics :P).

The Rules are pretty much like this:
-It will be arranged so every country gets either one representative or every country gets two. Before the tourney, each country decides who will represent them in the championship by a mini-tourney or a vote- it will be up to each country to decide how they choose. The winners will represent their respective nations in the tourney itself.
-Each competitor sends in one bot of the weight-class that will be specified (IE, DSL MW or something). The tourney will compose of several events, like KOTH, Death match, etc., and the bots will compete in each one.
-The winners of each event will get a prize. Also, all the KOs/WBP/TKOs have respective point values (IE a KO has 3 pts, a WBP has 1). All the country’s rankings will be added up for another prize for the overall winner.

I'm doing NW3 at the moment, however I might do this in the future. It would be a pretty big event, and it's possible that multiple people would have to host it.

HEIGHT/LENGTH IS A MUST! Post multiple views if you can.

Please, nothing vulgar or violent, etc., you know.

Do not post joke pictures, because I will use the ones you post! Unless I have to reject them of course.

I don't play this too often, but it's a fun little game. Nice graphics, too.

You play as these droids in like 2060 or something and blow stuff up. Arrow Keys and mouse driven.
Anyone heard of this?
