Hey man, welcome back!

(at this rate I'll never leave)

Now there's a face I really do remember! Cheers man, you helped me out a lot back in the day on my old showcase (and you dug my paint jobs from what I recall... Hopefully I can continue to impress )

Well yeah, because they were cool looking!

All I wanted was RA2 HD with online. If they can make a game to match the level of RA2, they'll get at least two purchases from me, but they're getting nothing from me right now.

For what it's worth, the official Battlebots page teased a video game earlier today, and got 700ish likes on the post as of now. There's money in this game if the devs have the initiative and drive to learn and do this right.

Hi LiNcK, how are things?

I need to work out if we can do RA3 Chinese Whispers.

Pretty good actually! I'm actually finishing college this December and already got a job lined up. Can't believe the first time I came here I was on my first year of middle school.

Tell me about it. I graduated yesterday and registered in 7th grade, but was lurking from 5th or 6th grade. Times change.

This whole time I'm just hoping the online is actually playable.

How great would it be for us all to actually be able to get online in custom rooms or whatever and face off?

I hope so. And even if RA3 sucks, hopefully the RA2 parts would get modded in and we'd just get an RA2 HD that we're all satisfied with.

Apex could make it into a future Robot Wars for sure though.

I've got two V-belts. So no slip really, which isn't great. Only other thing I can think of is a keyway or multiple set screws. A single set screw worked alright in Drumthing Else so I'm inclined to go that route.

I mean I've only done one also, this is my first robot besides the Drumthing rebuild. I should have clarified, the shaft I bent was on the motor, and the trantorque was attaching the pulley to the motor, within the robot. Other options include set screws or a keyway, probably gonna look into set screws next. And I could 3d print it, might be easier, although the set screw would be annoying to thread there.

I should be if it's a thing that is going to happen. Definitely needs some work, the trantorque bushing I was using to hold the weapon motor pulley on keeps unthreading and feeding my pulley into the weapon. Which got old right at the moment when it bent over my weapon shaft. So I need to redesign and rebuild that, and make some more attachments for the front for sure. I kept the S7 cutoffs so I could maybe make some wedgelets out of those, plus a few other designs I'm playing around with. I just need more AR400 and a welder...

I agree with Tygron. If I want a spike wall, I think I'd rather just build myself a dang spike wall. Also, that trailer would have me absolutely hyped if not for the knowledge that this is releasing in three weeks. It doesn't look ready for a release in three weeks. Also gonna echo the points comment. I'd almost rather they just not be there, and have some other kind of feedback that damage is being done (sparks, noise, etc.)

I thought it was an egg shape

Looks vicious dude. Not sure how well it'll fare against things like Triggo but it's a solid robot.

Gotta say I was aiming for that. Wedge is 3/16" AR400 and no components exist under it, so it can be entirely ripped off and theoretically be ok (I totally wouldn't be ok at that point). The bulkhead behind it is 5/8" 6061 Aluminum as well so it should also be able to take some hits. The big flat wedge is for Triggo and similar robots, while I aim to have some other things put together before I actually fight. But the big wedge will use up the most weight of any of my ideas, and was the easiest to make.

That poor thing, next time take some wood or metal box as testing object. Does look nice and the spinner reminds me a lot of Witch Doctor from Battlebots 2015.

Haha it was broken, no worries!

Looks real nice man. Hoping it does well for your project and in combat!
What motor are you running the disc on/what reduction, out of curiosity?

NTM Prop Drive 50/60 380kv from hobbyking, theoretically at 8000RPM but I don't trust that due  to the noise. 2.5/3.0 reduction which was all I could fit for Pulleys basically. Motor is annoying also because the shaft is totally smooth. The noise sketches me out as well but it's hard to tell if it's bearings, motor, or wind. The bearings are super high quality, precision bearings on a precision shaft. And the belts are a little loose for my liking but they work, so they probably aren't the noise either. So I have no idea basically!

I'm happy.
This is insane!

It's a college project, so I just hope that the people grading it agree!

IF 700psi (or whatever you can run without blowing up) can't get throught it, I'd love to see what can.

Well I have a few pounds put towards my nice hefty plate wedge, which I don't exactly need against Ruin. And I may be picking up another order of AR400 before Franklin anyways... AR400 top plate layered over UHMW maybe? ;)

Well with another CNC conversion in progress (this time on a 3000lb mill) I hope to be ready for it unlike moto, but no, reg isn't open yet.
As much as I'd prefer to not wedge, a fight is a fight and I don't think I want to run the hammer "for fun" but maybe I could just turn down the pressure and/or slap extra armor over your speed controllers, a grudge match for fun shouldn't cost you a bunch of cash in parts.

Then again I still can't get out of the mindset of putting ~1k of speed controllers in a bot, lol, here's hoping I dont tap out at the slightest wisp of smoke again XD

You put that much in?? I have two Botbitz 30As for drive that are well hidden and a RedBrick 200A for weapon that isn't well hidden, and some equally unhidden lipos. So we'll see how that goes! Turn up the gas and do your worst. I have some ideas though...

Hey, I'm also first-robotting a featherweight right now. A couple quick tips and I have a ton of research I've done if you have any more questions. First point is to take however much you think you're going to spend, and just double it. At least. And have that much saved up before you're going to start buying parts. Next point is to not buy parts at all until your design is finalized. I made the mistake to try to show progress (I'm doing it for my senior project at school) and now I'm stuck with parts that I'm either not using, or forced to use because I don't have enough time to put in anything else. This costs money, and makes me sad.

I'm making a lifting arm for Ruin2 incase someone wants to grudge match it at franklin *hint hint* :)

Is Franklin a thing yet? I want as many fights I can get for a drive that far for me. You'll be a good test for my shame hoops haha

Linear actuators?, I was hoping for a faster acting lifting arm than "usual" but if it will help save on power consumption (and provide more torque in the process) I'm open with using them, but would I want to go with 1 or 2?

Probably something to design for. I know many use one, but if you've got weight, it's always fun to do something different!

Apparently gearing is already done in drill motors, so all I was going to do was use the chains to link the motor to the two wheels on either side.

Also, I didn't create this post just for creating things but also for the fact that RA3 is coming out in a month and I wanted a friendly place to discuss it. I was going to move to the RFA forums later on when I started actually ordering the parts needed to make the chassis as I'm currently binge-researching wherever I can to load up on as much information as possible.

I would suggest the Riobotz combot tutorial.

http://www.riobotz.com.br/riobotz_combot_tutorial.pdf

Fantastically in depth tutorial, I read it cover to cover and took notes before I started designing. I ended up with 10 pages of notes.
