Good, Not in the 1st round though. That is planned.  Even if we are not matched we can grudge, my bot is designed to fail!

For every one unsure to join,

I have awesome plans for SBV, such as a half time show, commercials, comedy, and bonzi buddy.

Entry sent via PM.

I could perhaps throw something together really fast, hopefully you and me will be matched up against each other asbee, imagine it, the battle of the RoboGames Wiki.

So I had always wondered what would have happened had the BBEANS  tournament brackets been drawn differently, would there be different champions?, if so how far would the actual champs and runners-up get in the competition?, would the BTRSHDBBDDTBL prove that it deserved the award by getting far in the competition, or would it run into some bad luck again?, will SFTW be the SFTW of BBEANS 3?

I decided the only way to find this out is to go to a bracket randomizer, and create a fresh new bracket. This show tourney is less of a tourney, and more of a what if, and features semi-high production value, and running, unscripted commentary. If this idea proves popular enough I may actually expand to other historic tourneys in RA2 history that would be possible to do (Read: has an AI Pack).

A fair warning on the commentary, I do have a bit of a speech impediment, so you may have more than a few moments where you can't understand my commentary.

At this point, feel free to make your own topic. I'd recommend it, especially so you can have control of the OP and have no fear that, for whatever reason beyond your control, Ben Purse removes this thread and all discussion pertaining to your contributions gets lost. Not to mention that I'm sure you would like all traffic and credit for your work to go to a thread of your own, not Purse's.

Okay I'm on it, thank you for your swift reply.

Since this idea seems to have been abandoned, and since the original videos are gone. Coupled with the fact that I had been planning the same thing (an alternate BBEANS I thought I might as well pick up the torch here.

So here is Episode 1, if a mod wants me to make a separate thread for this I will.

Yes I know I have a speech impediment and my commentary may be hard to understand.
I also used the wrong arena, and I realized this too late as I had already recorded all the fights.

In this episode the matches will be as follows:

Straight Shooter vs TWERKYULATE YOSELF!
VeXeD vs TweakerBeater
Trident vs SURPRISE!
and Wedge Tracker vs I Will Get Shredded.

Episode 2:

In this episode the fights are:

Gauntlet vs Wolverine
NeglectedVain vs Event Horizon 2
RipTide vs SadRabbit
razor guy vs Centapead

If you want to talk about a precision shot, here ya go. I do not know how my asymmetrical IRL drum spinner Track Attack managed to take a wheel off of Cranky Spanky 8 seconds into the fight but it somehow did.

Anyway here is part 2 of the let's build.

Sorry it took so long I had to file a copyright dispute on the first video as some scumbag filed a copyright claim on one of the royalty free music tracks I used under the Creative Commons 3.0 licence... I also had some choice words in the dispute as well.

You mean human-controllable melty? Looks weird but I can see where you're coming from, that said human-controllable melty might prefer symmetric drive.

At this point you should just let the AI do the melty so component usage is maximized.
Problem is I do not know how to AI, but in the next variation sure I will try symmetric drive.
Learning to AI is surprisingly easy. The tutorials section has a good guide but feel free to PM me if you get stuck anywhere.
Hmm I may try AI'ing Track Attack once it is uploaded to the bot exchange.

So this time I decided to do a timelapse of my next build. Even with the sped up footage it took so long that I had to split it into three parts, here is part 1.

(sigh) I was going to post another bot called Track Attack today but I decided to do a time lapse of the build of this one... Unfortunately my video editing software screwed up and I need to convert the format of the files from .mov to .mkv before I can run them through Adobe Audition... Cause I was also going to get the pictures for my splash from the video I shot of the bot.

In the meantime here is... Well it is a thing I guess, I was trying to make a functioning Meltybrain in RA2, it kind of works but it doesn't, I might tinker around with this idea some more, see where it goes.

UPDATE!

LDAI team:
(Image removed from quote.)
LW- Sprinter SV: Just like the previous but sleeker. Just as stupidly fast.
MW- Tricolore: More OBJ2RA2! Hollow chassis with stuff inside and some poly pannels.
HW- Fork Flip Evo: Because I couldn't think of an original HW design at the time, so have a fully extenderbot Fork Flip!
AW- UpperCut: More OBJ2RA2! Replica of my actual IRL AW. Has an STD as well!
BW- Delta-f: Get it? B'cause Beta is a greek letter and Hz is the unit of frequency, so f ... Anyways has a Overkill motor for the axe.
CW- Dome-Nant: More (you get it). Wanted to use the chassis for a shell spinner, this required the ChassisSpinner.py, and because wheels in ra2 are stupid, I can't have wheels directly attached to the drive motors, so the wheels have f**k all traction. But other than that it does work! And it doesn't use the black shell pannels that we are all sick of.

BOTM April:
(Image removed from quote.)
The winner of that month. Glad people liked it!

ADOT entries:

(Image removed from quote.)
SHW clusterbot: Gothic Duck (HW) and Nasty Egg (MW): Not totally satisfied with this to be honest. The HW part tends to lose the beta motor as it's not directly attached to the chassis.

(Image removed from quote.)
LW clusterbot: Red Blur and Green Slash (both AWs): Originally supposed to be a BW cluster bot, but ra2 doesn't like robots that are stupidly light, so it sends them into space. Probably going to be swept away by other LWs but whatever.

(Image removed from quote.)
HW: B-Lizard: made to use the biggest VDMA burst motor and make it look not constrained by that component. Added tilted wheels for more style points.

And my latest bot:
(Image removed from quote.)
CW: Margin of Error: Decided to make it today to try and send it for ADOT but I was too slow. Decided to try to fit a more complex shape into the 86 polygons limit of OBJ2RA2 (if you want to fight with it) and decided for an undercutter with the body having a recess for the blade, with relatively curvy shapes.
Love the look of the SHW clusterbot, especially the MW #eggbeatermasterrace <3

PS: Where can I find Badnik's disc decals?
Do you mean this?
Thank you. I will add it to my game and then I am off to watch some of the Clarkson, May, and Hammond era Top Gear.

not bad, but i feel the bot is not long enough and it may just flip itself if hit enough

You are correct, it flips itself all the time, but then again I don't really build bots to fight anymore, I just like creating things.
Weren't you banned, or am I thinking of someone else?

Also, which way do the wheels point horizontally? Forward or back?
Nope I was never banned I have just been away for several years, school then college where I recently completed a Photoshop class, although I did get into a row with Noodle (who was eventually banned from GTM for other things) back when the Playground existed, perhaps you are confusing me with Noodle? anyway they point forward I think because they tilt to the side.

Anyway I somehow got it into my head to make a successor to one of the first DSL TC bots I posted here on GTM called Egged MK2 all the way back in 2009. Well it is 2017 now, nearly 8 years later and I will now be presenting Egged Mk3.

It has an Eggbeater weapon, and I used the IRL pack as well as component freedom to build the eggbeater, and pack the internals in super tight. It is armored in 5mm Steel.

PS: Where can I find Badnik's disc decals?

Damn that thing looks sick. Love the cambered wheels. One thing I'd recommend is downloading DSCs IRL Extender/Armour packs, which are pretty much standard in DSL IRL building these days. You can find them here: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=19384.0

Looks super cool as-is though.

Okay I downloaded them.

Sigh once again it has been a year between bots that I have built (I guess that is a thing with me). Anyhow once again using Serge's RA2 Component Freedom mod I have created an IRL Middleweight disc spinner.

The robot is called Hi-Calibre, and is armored in 3mm steel. Hi-Calibre is also the most compact design I have built so far being roughly the size of a Lightweight. The inspiration for this design came from Robot Wars competitor Aftershock.

For mobility it has two cambered Pussycat Wheels driven by two Team Whyachi motors. Despite the weapon being driven by a Perm 80 the bot doesn't do that much damage. This is due to the fact that I once again sacrificed effectiveness for looks.

Side note: I was a bit worried RA2 would not run on my new Windows 10 gaming laptop, but it runs just fine.

Welp if the dev's don't fix it we certainly have enough brilliant minds here on GTM to fix it don't we guys?
