Amazing how easy it is to drag someone out of the woodwork when they are your IRL friend. If all else fails I'll force G.K. to add a bit (and you DON't want that to happen if you saw CW3). Man, all the old guard is coming back. There is hope for Standard yet. 83

not every pizza has cheese tho, yeah 95% of pizzas have it but you can just make a pizza with a tomato sauce base and onions, mild peppers, olives on it, etc. and it'll still be a pizza.
of course it is better with cheese but that's not the point either 87
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Martymidgets DSL Showcase« on: June 29, 2020, 05:01:08 PM »
yeah it's cool aesthetically but it you want to save weight discs will be better. also discs would be stopped less easily if another bot's part gets stuck in there too.
also yeah I, too, think that the popup would benefit from having shorter weapon arms. 88
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Naryar's DSL showcase - Oldschool DSL-S with 2.2« on: June 29, 2020, 04:38:17 PM »might be able to do a bit of a weight save by swapping the hinges for skirts (presumably have to axle load them to get both on a bot this thin), since i'm pretty sure there's no significant difference i think i might be able to put them both if I rotate the first one in a different direction. but we'll see. i might upgrade that one, dunno if weaponed flippers are this good. but maybe i'm just lazy. anyways, something MANLIER Named G O T T A G O F A S T because this is just a silly meme bot. NPC fasts boy ! 3mm titanium so it doesn't have terrible armor. invertible and such. i could probably keep it to 2 ants but in the small likelyhood it doesn't rage III out of the arena in the first 30 secs, battery power is still nice on rammers. this should be entertaining to watch. also i lost the first version due to a dumb wiring window crash. then built another one in five minutes. whoo. 89

yo so i wanted to try some weaponed flippers.
the first had a jx. it looked like babby's first dsl-s and i will not disgrace this showcase by showing it here. anyways. unnamed bot. it has npc fasts and plastic 1. yes, this is how weight starved i was. it looks alright but is pretty bad. even with 3 snappers it's not as powerful as i thought, i guess this is the con of 30 kg per snapper. also unstable as ****, again, no weight - don't want to sacrifice drive and can't really sacrifice battery power. also rear stabilizers would make it harder to self-right. it also flips itself if it fires when not under a bot have a feeling weaponed flippers are just a very mediocre bot type. or it's not fitted to MW. 90

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Mad-man 3's DSL showcase« on: June 29, 2020, 03:00:43 PM »basically if you have a 360 degree axle with a bunch of motors attached instead of the motors on the axle spinning, the chassis/stuff attached spins. the spinning is usually faster than an sns and it accelerates really quickly compared to weapon motor, but there are normally stability problems unless you use a big DSL disc and normally you just spin in place. the two solutions are that you can have a seperate drive system on an axle like i've got on this, or you can put an axle with burst pistons but that's more space dependent and heavy that doesn't sound like dsl-s if you're abusing a glitch to get higher speeds than what you could normally get 93

gorbatchev/10
i like it. especially for a flail SnS. though i wonder why it is so heavy, it has like HW tier weapon weight ? is it just the motors ? as for the mw poker, that extender work looks a little awkward to me. pretty sure you can attach the frontal armor off them top ME's and save 15-20 kg or so. 96

manlier than the TRFBD you made beforehand
love me some inertia flippers. they're so rare and cool 97
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Kelimpel's horrifying bots« on: June 27, 2020, 01:30:02 PM »
yeah gotta say, using different wheel sizes is almost always questionable because it often makes balance or wedginess issues. on something that's wedge reliant those are quite important.
it's nice seeing clamps being built. although i don't get the insertion of politics into this robot. also irons look a bit out of place there aesthetically. i think it would look better if you'd use some beater bars for doing some damage though considering this is irl you're not gonna WBP with that anyways, except maybe against a flipper, so you could consider going weaponless. 98
DSL TC Showcases / Re: superbomb122's DSL Showcase (finally)« on: June 27, 2020, 01:24:13 PM »
in HS's you generally want more weight invested into the weapon motor rather than more chassis armor because "your weapon is your armor", aka it punts the opponent away. though sometimes a heavily armored HS is nice.

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Hard Bot's RA2M« on: June 27, 2020, 01:21:11 PM »
yeah titanium half sheets suck at armor. just use a 30kg one on each face.
also those halfsheets get in the way of the weapon rack. it also seems a bit fragile if something hits you by the sides or from under/over the bot. though i agree with all of what SM said, i will defend lightning spikes. lightning spikes are cool, and iirc they're decent weapons too. 100

this makes me want to dust off my ole dsl showcase and build some sh**.
does that juggler need that much weight invested into wedge thou ? i can understand the process considering you're very dead if anything with decent DPS gets under you but it still seems a bit heavy |
