Anyone know any good motors for a Hobbyweight? Specifically, I'm hoping to build a Maximus-style fast (as in, whatever the equivalent to 30mph would be for a Hobby) brick wedge with a lot of torque.
On that note, anyone know of a good way to have a good deal of torque w/o losing much (if any) speed? My idea was to take the motor, attach a belt/gear/chain with a really low/high ratio, then attach to that one with a really high/low ratio to even things out; on a scale of 1-10 how dumb an idea is this (1 being Galaxy Brain, 10 being critical derpface)

Just gonna ask, are you gonna do the rumbles for GTMCS 1, maybe once this series is done? I'm pretty sure people (not just me) are waiting for them.

Hi
So I've been thinking of building myself a robot IRL, and would like a few tips on the matter.
What I'm hoping the bot will be like: -Hobbyweight, as per the title (biggest bot Western Allied Robotics - biggest-name bot competition near me - runs) -Basic design I was thinking of is an Original Sin-style wedge... except really really fast (thinking 25-30+ MPH, or whatever qualifies as really fast for Hobbyweights). I was also thinking of enclosed wheels with the side panels curved outwards (with the threefold purpose of 1) Not having something flat for spinners to bite into. 2) Giving the wheels/internals some space in case the sides do buckle, and 3) Not having a flat surface on which to get immobilized.
Do you guys have any recommendations for what I should get to get this guys started? Would there possibly be any kits for what I'm thinking of?
P.S: This is another question I've been thinking of, which I may or may not implement into the above depending on the answer: I figure in this era of Hardox that static spikes are not gonna be any good... but what about a static bludgeon? Like, a big, blunt object on the front of the bot with which to ram into the other guy and hopefully cause internal damage?

Hate to be necroposting, but devs haven't responded at all for I think about 6 months. Does anyone have any news, and if not, are we just gonna declare the game dead?

Believe that's the last of the non-hovercraft bots out of the bracket now. Don't mind too much though, as two of them aren't completely cheap, and the last one is still entertaining in its cheapness.

You used the Willy v. Wen intro for the Giece v. Tashic fight. Speaking of which, I don't think we'll be having cheatbot parts if/when we do this again. That match more than anything says so. Also, tfw WBP doesn't WBP:

Sage vs. UberPyro
*Thanks to Geice for helping record this match.
So this is how my fight with UberPyro would have gone if I had more than one day to make my bot.
BTW, what's the music for that match? I have a guess of where it's from, but I'd like to know for certain.

My two cents: -Team Shock may be my new fave combat robots team. Shockwave was one of my faves in S8, and Aftershock is just plain amazing. Aftershock definitely deserved that win, hope they carry on through the finals.
-Redemption 4 Gabe; Sabertooth '17 was a beast, almost as much as Aftershock... but it never was really the same after the latter tore it to chunks. I got a serious 'held together with scotch tape' vibe when they ended up repaired, that's how bad the damage was. I think it would've won the heat (or at least had a better chance of doing so) had Aftershock not happened. They deserved to get as far as they did though
-Poor Terrorhurtz and John Reid, screwed over in the head-to-heads for the second time in a row. John did an admirable job putting Terrorhurtz back together after the run-in with Sabertooth, but... think VSs are not the best opponents for it.
-OK show of hands, who actually expected Jellyfish to win anything. Granted it was a judge's decision against a Sabertooth that looked barely taped back together, but... yeah. Sabertooth would had shredded the cnidarian machine had it been in better condition. TBF to Jellyfish the design would probably have worked if it weren't made from HDPE (see: Huggy Bear)
-I felt TMHWK and Crank-E would have done better had they not been subjected to Sabertooth and Aftershock respectively. Nuts 2 going out the way it did (and not being reinstated) was a crying shame. Rapid's dropping out is a cautionary tale in why over-complication is never a good thing.

Speaking of which, are Retooled and the Stock/IF melees coming soon (are we even doing the latter) or are people taking a break rn?

Wtf is with all the bitching about memes?
In an official tournament, shouldn't the videos be a bit more professional? It isn't representing the forum but the tournament and the creator. This though should be an example of what a very good, high quality tournament is because the label is on all of us, not just Thacker.
To someone who doesn't come on the forums and hears the final's music of IF, it's more than likely that they'll think that GTM is a big joke since this is the official tournament. If we want decent people here then we should have a decent official tournament.
It's only a small change. One that could be greatly beneficial, though.
I figured memes happened because the finals, at least the IF one, were such anti-climaxes. Still, I can appreciate the change.
Also, congrats to both winners so far. now to get my ass handed to me in retooled

Welp, figured I'd go out this round. At least I made Top 6 in Stock. GG Fracture.
And with this I'm out in two brackets. And since I'm probably gonna get my rear handed to me in Retooled, I may be completely out of the running very soon.
Also, you have earned whatever respect I didn't already have for you for using Miror B.'s fight theme Thrackerzod.

Skream 3 looks pretty tough for Magnitude to break through. This may be where I go out.

Also, applogies for double post, but you got Round 5 vids for Stock and Ironforge mixed up on the vid links.

GG ty4er. Didn't really expect to win that one, but looks like I put up a good fight at any rate, at least the first time.
Still, I think this guarantees me Top Six in Stock, does it?
In other news, flame wedges are absolutely, stupendously cheap. Thank god I don't have to face this one (yet) if I manage to win my next IF fight.
