Discussion / Converting RA2 bots to CAD with 3D Ripper DX
« on: August 07, 2021, 03:25:12 PM »
Posting this so someone else doesn't have to go through the trouble of trying to guess the scaling for ra2 bots.

If you open a bot in the botlab and rip the bot without moving it, the model will be perfectly alligned with the x axis. Then in blender, import the obj and double click the model.
Finally set your scaling to X= -0.8 Y= 0.8 Z= 1.93 and your model is all set.

If you want the textures on your bot simply cut and paste all the .dds files from your Textures folder into your Frames folder with the obj file before opening the file in blender. The only things i've noticed dont work with this texturing method are belted TMWR's, regular typhoons, the ends of battlepacks, and things that dont have a texture file like shell parts and polycarb pieces.

Since 2.5 is coming out I thought I'd give clickbeetle's overvolting script one last hurrah since nobody really used it.

General Rules
-DSL 2.4 IRL HW
-8 Entrants
-Electric Arena 2
-Double Elim Bracket

Gimmick
Your bot must use the overvolting mechanic in some way. Don't enter something that isn't affected by the overvolting change.
You must use the provided version of the game in order to compete. Do NOT download clickbeetle's file yourself and try to patch it over top of your existing copy. I have already installed everything correctly in the standalone copy located right beneath this message.
Download the DSL 2.4 Overvolting game here --->FULL GAME
Watch clickbeetles video on how overvolting works below

Building Rules
-I retain the right to reject any bot for any reason
-Robots that use servos or motorized hammers must be AI'd beforehand.
-One bot per person
-Multibots and walkers/shufflers are banned

FIGHT RULES
-1 havok reset allowed per match
-3 min fight
-Judges Decision will be based on Damage Aggression and Control
-If a robot has all of its wheels removed then it will be considered knocked out
-A manual countdown will be initiated if a bot cannot show controlled movement for more than 20 seconds

PSA: Turns out clicks overvolting script only allows for overvolting all motors at the same time rather than just drive or weapon so make sure to use the omni control board when building your bots.

Tournament Archives / Trak Attak
« on: February 22, 2019, 10:04:25 PM »
I'll probably be hosting another wacky gimmick tourney like this in the near future
Well here's that tourney. Tracks are hardly ever used in IRL builds due to their immense weight, giant size, and overall less practicality when compared to wheels. So I was wondering how a tournament of only tracked bots would go.

-If you are not participating in the main IRL tourney you can still enter a side event
-Fight rules are the same as the ones posted above

ENTRIES

Rejected
Accepted
Accepted and AI'd

Notes:
I decided to enact the chassisbot rule due to several factors
1. the majority of tracked bots I've seen are chassisbots
2. havoks r dum and ruin good fights
3. uhhhh... chassis skins  heck
In order to ensure that a whole bunch of overheads or gutrippers murder the chassis in 3 seconds, I chose the Starcore arena to provide ample flipout zones. This should hopefully balance the field out and provide builders with the choice to try and go for the oota or bite into that juicy chassis for a KO

What do you guys think and would you be down to enter this?

Was gonna find some of the old sh** I made 9 years ago to celebrate RA2's 16th birthday but I forget where the CD went ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so here's some bots that I made for tourneys and never did anything with

staticwej.png

Yea, its got a static wedge so it isn't gonna get under anything. I tried fitting a burst in somewhere but every time it either went overweight or just didn't work right

sponsorshark.png

Now this thing really sucks. There's too much chassis space, razors and axes combined, and 3 stacked pinks don't power it the whole time (I don't think?). Was probably slapped together for asbestossars tourney that never happened
