so... if anyone remembers the RACCOON community, i've been asked by Moonset to see if anyone would be willing to host an event on GTM using RACCOON's modded DSL version to see what would happen, and i decided to do it myself This tourney is therefore going to use the RACCOON DSL mod as well as the RACCOON ruleset Guidelines The robots should be viable in real life. You can use RA2CF. Hold on, this isn’t exactly GTM IRL, but you may find some rules familiar.
Viability in Detail Except for robots with weapon shafts that are inside their chassis, all spinners have to have realistic weapon mounts. Reinforced Perm counts as weapon mount. Flipper arms also need to have realistic appearance. Spinning objects cannot intersect. IRL style weapon mount rules except looser. “Flipper arms also need to have realistic appearance.” basically means you can’t make flipper arms out of skirts, but you can use skirts as wedges (see Biohazard). Overall, RACOON is more focused on functional similarity rather than appearance.
Banned Parts All cheatbot2 parts are banned. Motors cannot be used as armor. Motor armor refers to when a motor is directly attached to the chassis and therefore becomes indestructible and when said motor is sticking out/covering a portion of chassis that is usually hit. However, motors sticking out of the top (see Bite Force) is allowed.
Weapon/Robot Types Only the original builder can modify robots from the past tournaments and re-enter them for future tournaments. If two or more robots from the same builder are similar in wedge structure and position, weapon type, structure, position, size, and overall shape, then only one of said robots can compete. Don’t copy and paste.
Weight Limit Weight limit is 1000kg. Up to 0.4kg extra weight will be granted if robot contains LEDs.
Special Rules Modular Robots Modular robot refers to robots that have a fixed type of weapon and chassis (including drive system) and have interchangeable parts (such as wedge, armor, weapon shape and size). You can have up to 3 modules per robot. All robot files should be submitted together, with different names for differentiation. A module needs to be selected before a match.
Swiss Army Bots Swiss army bot refers to robots that have a fixed chassis (including drive system) and have interchangeable weapon types. All robot files should be submitted together, with different names for differentiation. A module needs to be selected before a match. Srsly what’s even the point of modular robots?
Special Case If two modular/swiss army robots are involved in one match, the competitors will PM me before the match about the modules and AIs used. Module selection will not be disclosed before the video release. However, conditional AI can be requested. Conditional AI is used when you don’t know what module your opponent will use and have different strategies for the modules your opponent has. Conditional AI is specified at the same time as module selection, and done by me right before the match. There’s no conditional module.
Robot Naming Robot name cannot be Enter Bot Name or bot1,2,3... Offensive names are not allowed. File names should be the same as the in-game robot name.
Format: 16 entrants (i will not enter) Double Elimination RACCOON Arena (basically weeb-ified League of Champions arena) Signups end on October 10th i'm just asking this, please take this seriously if you're going to enter, i will deny any blatant jokebots Current Entries Accepted: 1. Industry Strength - NUKE (have yet to recieve the normal wedge setup) Rejected: 1. Moonset - AlterChan (spinners clip into motors) 2. Zhang - Rebel Soul (weapon and drive motors clip, spinner clips into motor)

sup nerds tried to make a compact drum spinner with the E-Tek since ampflows are really meh for spinner, here is Dr Decimation this seems to work decently, weapon's pretty powerful, it kinda has trouble driving inverted tho despite the top ears weapon stats: 3500 RPM 11KJ 26kg 96mph tip speed spins up to full speed in around 2 seconds

well, i guess it's time to finally bring this out, SO about a month ago Avalanche thought of making a meta that was pretty much IRL but oriented more torwards competitiveness than looks and cool designs, and interested by the idea, i lend him a hand, and Orc eventually joined in aswell, despite the idea being ridiculed by some people, i think it isn't completely stupid, because, there are sort of 2 categories of players in the IRL community, there are some people that want to make machines that are able to fight and kick ass in the arena, and other people who think of IRL more as a showcase meta where the priority is making cool looking stuff, but this causes some issues, namely that usually the "showcase builders" (let's call them that for now) get annoyed at the "fight builders" because they view their optimised for combat robots as tryhard because efficiency is the main objective rather than a full aesthetics mindset, which can lead to arguments and drama when all this gets ported to tournaments, which let's face it, gets rather annoying. Enter the Competitive Realistic meta (or CR for short), the idea is to make an alternative to the IRL meta with a set in stone ruleset so that race for competitiveness can be made in reasonable boundaries with minimal grey areas while keeping a certain level of realism so it doesn't just become DSL-S 2.0, this way, disputes between the two types of players in this game have no reason to exist anymore, you want to make fighters that will kick ass and make for cool fights ? CR is right up your alley, and everyone wanting to just make cool sh** for the hell of it can continue playing IRL unopposed and no longer be annoyed by the "tryhard" machines of those who play this for the fights. This new meta would give each "section" of the playerbase it's appropriate playing field depending on how each builder wants to play, and this is the part where i will need the community's help, i need people to "beta-test" the current ruleset we have in the works for CR for any balance flaws and big exploits we may have missed, the ruleset can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1N5zeHUZg6Eo2rY-FnhRNwp4S1Rrd79_ZQgURy5ha-wg/edit?usp=sharingPlease give us help and feedback, this project could be something very good, but it won't happen without your input, don't dismiss it as something stupid or a meme, this is a serious idea, give it a whirl and we can observe the results and see what needs to be changed to make this a viable sub-meta to IRL.

this is something that has been kinda always annoying me when i build IRL is that spinners in this game feel really weak next to their real life counterparts, for instance, when Tombstone hits a bot half of the time said bot is launched a fair distance across the arena, in RA2 ? you're lucky if the mother****er even moved when your HS hits it, VS is the same type of deal, you've seen Witch Doctor pop Rotator in the air in it's first fight in season 2, you saw Touro Maximus ****ing hurl Whoops against the lexan at Robogames, that barely ever happens in RA2 and usually it's only with stupidly over the top weapon systems that take 70% of the weight, most of the time driscs like Magnetar that irl can hurl bots in the air just slowly gutrips people because the motors are too piss weak to make them hit hard enough, the only time i managed to have an HS that hit as hard as real life bots like Megabyte or Icewave do was a MW HS with a ****ing 6-mag powered moros bar, and it looked like sh** cause i had to spend half of the weight in a weapon system with actual force behind it.
so i think one of the fixes that'd help make IRL more exciting and closer to real life would be buffing every single weapon motor in the game, yes even 6-mag/Dual perm, that wouldn't help with people making weapon spam deathspinners, but at least it'd make spinners feel powerful like they do in real life

so, i've noticed, that the parsec hype basically died completely after the 2 weeks following it's discovery, this is rather saddening, and i'd like to "fix" that, with the first official parsec comp (i know, technically you could argue that RA Invitational is the first, but it seems dead and stuck in limbo)
HW 1V1 single elimination IRL building Arena will be the Containement Cube 8 spots max (starting small) BFE and RA2CF will be allowed within reason flatmotors and overkill servo being the only cheatbot2 components allowed extenderbots will be banned to limit crashes and havok issues controls will be either WASD or arrow keys before the comp starts i will do a quick showcase of all the entrants to show that i haven't interfered with the bots in any way havoks that cause a robot to glitch into the arena, or teleport OOTA will lead to a restart, as well as game crashes thoughts ? rules that need to be added ? interest ? post it all

Tommy isn't the only one doing Lego battlebots... i'll make a showcase for my things, pics are taken from my cell phone so they may not be best quality, and to kick things off, an experiment gone horribly right: angle probably is the worst one possible, this weird looking thing is a VS design, the two wheels are linked to a pullback motor, takes a quiet long time to wind up to full speed... but when it hits you at full force, it sends you flying quite far while probably ripping a couple parts off of you.... still needs a srimech tho, other possibly less horrible looking bots coming soon

Oh hey, it's the edgiest GTMer trying to host a tourney again, and well, Throwback Throwdown gave me the idea of making a stock tourney whose point was to go back to when the game was released and when stock was at it's very start, a trip back to the roots. Tourney information:Stock MW Combat Arena Any BFE/Hax Mode and other wizardry will be banned Single Elimination Brackets 16 entrants Best out of 3 Havok will lead to restart I will enter with this little fella: Building Restrictions:Snapper Loading and Stacking of any form is banned HS/SnS hybrids aren't allowed Overlapping can only be done on servos (by that i mean putting motors inside batteries and stuff) Effe glitch is banned Popups can use max 4 razors as weapons but can't use ramplates as armor or burst wedges caster armor is banned Blue Snapper is banned 140 cm square AND red extender are banned HS can only have maximum 2 weapons per weapon head (like for instance, you can't have 3 spikes on one end of a tribar) Entry List: 1.Mystic2000 (Accepted) 2.DeadGenocide (Accepted) 3.RedAce (Accepted) 4.Thrackerzod (Accepted) 5.Squirrel-Monkey (Accepted) 6.battledutchman (Accepted) 7.RedlineM203 (Accepted) 8.Clickbeetle (Accepted) 9.090901 (Accepted) 10.Fracture (Accepted) 11.Silverfish (Recieved) 12.Naryar (Accepted) 13.Jake (Accepted 14.Joelu of England (Accepted) 15.Gauche Suede (Accepted) 16.Lightning S (Accepted)

So, as another attempt of doing something useful for this place, i've been extremely slowly working on a AI pack, but i've just begun making the teams, and i'm starting to wonder in which mod i should do it, at first i was thinking of stock since it's the mod where i have the best building skill, but now i'm wondering if i should not do it in Ironforge, since IF AI packs are very rare atm, and also building many bots is MUCH less time-consuming and a pain in the ass than in stock, so yeah, i'm putting this thread up not only as a checklog for the progress, but also to ask you, in which mod i should make Mystic AI
Progress table: -UI and graphics (90%, some things need tweaking) -Ai teams (5%, no AIing done) -Bosses (yet to be implemented/unsure if will be implemented) -Arena reskins (yet to be implemented/unsure if will be implemented) -Player teams (0%)

yes, that's right, the most useless guy GTM have ever seen, returns at showcasing, and here s'a bot i might put as a HW for a AI Team for 123, but i'm not sure if he accepts it (well in fact i'm 100% sure of his refusal, but who knows): Steel Blacksmith: Yes, this is an Rammer/Hammer/Flamer, hybrid, those flame hammers are amazing, not as good as expected against shell however, i have also an SNS and a half-IRL bot, in the works

So lemme do something useful for once and make a AI pack for NAR 3, now you may ask why, simply so people who are gonna design teams for NAR AI 3 can actually test their bots against opponents of the same building style, and even for DSL 3 builders in general who wants to do some standard building, this pack could also be used to learn more about what is good or not in NAR 3.
So feel free to give your opinion about this project
For now i'll do the stock teams then i'll add more eventually
Feel free to also send bots for it if you want
Here is a statusboard of the bots:
