Bio - The beginning and post Robot Wars
About time a thread was made on our antics, the team was first founded when we entered Tanto in the Robot Wars Pilot between Matt Pearman, Craig Croucher, Jack Tweedy and myself.  Each of us having a few years experience under our belts as individual roboteers. (me with the least hah) Since RW Craig and Tweedy have went on to be Team Nebula leaving Pearman and myself.

FRA 2016 Featherweight World Championships
Last week we both competed at the FRA 2016 Featherweight World Championships as a team with two new robots, Matt driving 'Surveyor' and myself with 'Amnesia.' It was a brilliant event all in all and we had plenty of help from roboteers all round and helping others in return. You kind of forget that you're all enemies in the arena!

'Surveyor' managed to get through the qualifiers with 7 points ripping off No Toy's axe in the process, but lost in the melee to decide who went through to rounds. 'Amnesia' managed to get through the qualifiers on 8 points, and went on to pit 'Minimoth', 'Loki 2' and 'Omega' in the rounds (somehow) and finally lost to 'Django' in the semi final and breaking down in the playoff against 'Beauty 2'... But avoided getting flipped at all! It was a very jammy performance and it wouldn't have gotten so far if it wasn't for Matt Pearman, Sam Price and Jarvis Callister, the latter of which has also now joined us on our Immersive team antics!

The videos of our fights are in this playlist:

Next event on the list for us is Burgess hill with the Beetleweights, hope to see some of you there!

General Support / Wheel Catagory Crash
« on: September 12, 2014, 12:01:28 PM »
Hello guys, never thought that if end up posting here.

I have been tweaking the grips for the wheels to reduce speed in the mod and each time I tested it in the game and everything worked. So I came down to going into the antweight wheel files (antweight.txt) and I simply replaced the 'ant' in the name to featherweight and did so with antweight2.txt and antweight3.txt. I then went back into RA2, botlab and then when I clicked on the mobility/wheel Catagory it crashed. So I retrieved the backup files for antweight and so on in the styles folder, replaced them and it still crashes! But yet I can still fight with the robots that use the three different ant wheels.

Please anyone, get back to me ASAP. The mod may not get finished/released if this issue cannot be fixed.
Thanks.
Adam

Real Robotics Discussion / Robot Fighting Arenas
« on: June 12, 2014, 01:38:16 PM »
Hey lads, I'm just posting this because I want a picturesque database of well known heavyweight arenas around the world used in popular events, non of this daft featherweight or ant weight crap as I need a list that I can pick arenas to make for my AI patch.

First off, obviously there were the obviously the Robot wars, Battlebots and robotica arenas but what other untelevised robotic combat events had their own arenas throughout the world?

Robot Wars (RAF base Newton)

Battlebots (San Francisco)

Robotica

Roaming Robots/Robot Wars Live (location varies)

Combots/Robogames (San Mateo)

Robodome (Brighton/Portsmouth)

Dutch Robot Games (location varies across Holland)

If someone can list other arenas, particularly what they used in Holland, Canada and I think Japan had a crack at it. Then it would be much appreciated, just please no daft box arenas.

Custom Components Showcase / HereticBlue's showcase
« on: May 24, 2014, 10:13:50 AM »
I havent posted my own personal robots in about 10 years so I think its about time I gave you all an update.

Now obviously because I spend so much time making replicas, I don't indulge in my own creations but now and again I will make use of some delicious drive motors, burst motors and the odd custom components I've made.

There are several versions of each robot and virtually all of them have the same chassis. Once I find a design that works, I don't like to alter it too much otherwise I'll just be making things difficult for myself.

The BMC Rammers can ram bots out of the arena if they are propelled across the arena. The flippers somersault to self right, i dont need to say much more about them. The spinners can thrust robots about and out of the arenas. The Bloody Migraine's can pretty much destroy anything and Llofrudd (Welsh for Murderer) is a claw robot built on BMC MkII's chassis but with its wedge replaced with Titans wedges and a set of drive wheels removed, all in all its better as a rammer if I'm going to be honest!

Thank you so much for the positive feedback so far guys! :) It really means a lot to us.

Admittedly some arenas aren't finished and theres not even 1/4 of the new weapons we wanted to include, simply due to time constraints. But Either way we didn't want to make you guys wait any longer to try out these replicas and get the classic feel of Robot Wars, RW Arenas of Destruction and RW Live all rolled into one.

Some things have changed from regular mods, like the assembly of spinners, crushers and some axes. They are two/three piece components that have to be mounted to a mega adapter and rotated into position. Spinners have an invisible half because the collision is only for one single tooth, so you need to hit F12 and rotate the invisible half until the collision is 180 degrees from the visible part of the drum. This does seem like time wasting but.... It does mean you hit your opponents a lot harder than before and ootas with verticals are very much possible. The motors and lips battery, believe it or not, if you get these components in real life you will get the same amount of oomph. The team is built of roboteers so we've had a play with most of these ourselves. Oh and I hope the music & sfx upgrade for the arenas and UI helps you get that RWED feel.
