Contests / BOTM SEPTEMBER 2018
« on: July 31, 2018, 03:54:08 PM »
Here's how this works. Every participant creates a bot that follows the given bot restrictions for that month. They then create a simple splash for their bot and uploaded it to GTM before the deadline expires. After the deadline expires, a poll will be created for the community to vote on their favourite entry. The splash with the most votes will be put on GTM's homepage for a month.

Bot Restrictions
Metagame: Free choice.
Weight: Gigaheavyweight. (5000.0 kg and above in Stock and DSL, 2500.0 kg and above in Ironforge.)
Bonus Rules: The robot MUST be a hybrid of two or more weapon styles.

Splash Rules
Entries must be uploaded by sending them to me in a PM or on Discord.
One splash per member.
Please do not put anything in that identifies you as the creator.
There must be at least one image of the insides in the splash.
The weight must be given in the splash.
Images must be either JPG, PNG, or GIF.
Images must be no wider than 700px and no taller than 800px.
Entries must be in by 11.59 pm, UK Time, 25th August 2018.

Yes, I'm aware that you can see the results after you vote, but I literally cannot click the option that hides the results until the poll is expired. So yeah, if some mod can go fix that for me that'd be tangfastic.

As there has been a lack of activity recently with Ironforge, this month will hopefully inspire a few people to kickstart its revival.

MY ENTRIES

The plan is to run this is tandem with Scrapheap Challenge 3 since I reckon I'll be able to get that completed while MOD2 is still in signups given how long it took last time. Also this is just a copy/paste of all the stuff from the first Masters Of Disaster, so feel free to call me out on anything that doesn't make sense, because I might have missed something.

RULES
Game - DSL 2.2
Weight - Middleweight
Realistic Rule - DSL Standard
24, 32, or 48 entrants. (See battle rules.)
Two entry robots per person, may open this up to three per person if there is enough popularity.
If you can't AI I will do it for you, just don't complain about it if your robot doesn't win.
You can't enter until I have received and accepted your robot.

BUILDING RULES
If the game says it's a Middleweight then it's allowed.
Component Freedom is banned, but the Rule Of Seven Break is allowed.
Only in game glitches are allowed - eFFe Glitching, Axle Loading and Snapper Loading.
No external editing at all - BFE, AAM and so on.
Robots with tracks get no weight cushion.
No scuttlers, crawlers, walkers, or SNS robots.
Multibots are banned.
You can upgrade your robot or send a new one as much as you like until signups end.
Nothing from Cheatbot2, you know that.
You MAY NOT use more than one of the same component on your robot, this includes all batteries, wheels, weapons, everything.
This means that using 2 extenders of the same length IS NOT allowed, but using different lengths IS allowed.

BATTLE RULES
3 minute fights.
Scrapheap Challenge Arena (Official Robot Arena 2 Tournament Arena with a totally boss skin.)
Hazards on.
If a robot havoks then I will restart the match. I will keep restarting until there is a havok-free match. Fights with havoks will not be shown.
Single elimination bracket, head to head, no rumbles or melees.
If we only get 24 entries (Like SC2 did.) then we'll have a Round Of 24, four wildcards, then single elimination, just like Battlebots 2015.
Once we have 24 entrants, there will be a final countdown of a few days in order to try and get 32 entrants, if there are less than 32 then we'll run with the 24.
Similarly, if I judge there to be significant interest, I'll open up third entries and the tournament will run with 48 entrants like Battlebots 2016.
Judging will be done by points scored during the match, as is custom for Standard tournaments.

    list.append(("Return Of Panic Attack B","ElectricHammer",{'nose':math.pi*2,'invertible':False,'radius':0.5,'topspeed':100,'throttle':100,'turn':100,'turnspeed':2.5,'MotorID':23,'NoChassisTime':2,'StartAngle':-math.pi*2,'SwingTime':5,'weapons':(0,)}))
(Download for the .bot file should be at the bottom of the post if you wanna check it out.)

So I've got this one robot left to AI for Swiss Army Warfare but I don't really know how to go about doing that. It drives around fine, but the hammer just doesn't do anything, it stays in the starting position (fully upright) and that's it. It doesn't move when something's in the Smartzone and it doesn't move when it's upside down.

The Beta motor is the 24th component according to the .bot file, so I think that makes it the ID 23. Also I've tried a few values for StartAngle but they don't have any effect.

Any suggestions?

So there's now another new tournament happening in China called Clash Bots. So far Team Tilly and Team Saint have said they've been invited across, does anybody else have more details about the tournament itself?

About to become the third member of the ten tourney club, baby.

Game - DSL 2.2
Realistic Rule - IRL
Weightclass - Middleweight
16 entries.
You can enter one robot per person.
The gimmick is each robot must have interchangeable (Swiss Army) style weapons.
Minimum number of variations is three, maximum number of variations is six.
If you can't AI I will try my best to AI for you, just don't complain about it if your robot doesn't win.
You can't enter until I have received and accepted your robot.

Rule Of Seven Break, Component Freedom, and BFE ONLY are allowed for this, providing that it is for cool looking IRL-ness reasons.
No external editing at all. (With the obvious exception of BFE.)
The IRL packs that Dragonsteincole has been making are allowed.
Robots with tracks get no weight cushion.
No scuttlers, crawlers or walkers.
Multibots are banned.
You can upgrade your robot or send a new one as much as you like until signups end.
I reserve the right to reject robots I don't deem IRL enough or Swiss Army-ish enough.
I also reserve the right to retrospectively reject/accept previously accepted/rejected robots.
The chassis (actual chassis or extender frame chassis) must remain the same through all variations.
If you're using an actual in game chassis, the armour can change, that's IRL enough for me.
Good examples of acceptable robots are:
   - Tornado and Big Nipper from Robot Wars.
   - Bombshell and Razorback from Battlebots.
   - Interplanetary from Cephalopod's showcase.
When sending me the different variations, please name them as A, B, C, D, E, and F.

Swiss Army Warzone with hazards on. (Official Robot Arena 2 Tournament Arena.)
If a robot havoks then I will restart the match. I will keep restarting until there is a havok-free match. Fights with havoks will not be shown.
Single elimination bracket with 16 competitors.
Fights will be a Best Of 3 match, each of which will last three minutes.
Prior to each round, each competitor should send me the THREE variations they want to use as well as the ORDER to use them in.
The winner of each Best Of 3 will advance to the next round.
The winner of the Grand Final will be crowned Champion.
