Thanks to someone called spahgetticoconut in RA2 Central for posting this recently a dude in discord joined and posted about having an odd version of emergency that doesn't match with the version that we all know and love. His proclaimed version of EMERGENCY looked like this most of us were skeptical at first. in almost 18 years of this game being out, i can't recall a single post on any forum or website talking about there being a different version of emergency, and as someone who owns an original v1 RA2 CD, I can say that i have ever seen it in my copy of the game. our main two guesses at the time were either: - A: he had some weird bootleg copy of the game where emergency was changed prior to release - B: he was making it up. But lo and behold, he later posted both the botfile of this version of emergency, and also the entire directory of his ra2 game install, and his claims about having a weird pre-release version of emergency were very much true internals + a better shot if you dig a little deeper, it all actually starts to add up and starts to make sense on how this version fits in - there's two binding lines for emergency in the stock game. his game only has one, and it's the line that is normally hashed out in the final release. it also has the settings correctly set for the nose heading, the proper line for car steering, and the weapon ID's set for the flippers - EMERGENCY in the final release is the only HW bot that doesn't have double strength armor, this proto version has double strength armor (ti) like the rest of the stock ai robots - going by the last edited dates for the original AI in V1 of the game, the final release version of EMERGENCY was last edited almost 2 weeks later than all of the other stock ai robots. this unreleased version lines up date wise with the rest of team spark's last edited dates in the 1.0 release (keep in mind that emergency's skin was updated in 1.2, so the date is different in later versions) pretty cool that were still learning new things about the base vanilla versions of this game after all these years huh also if anyone was wondering, i haven't found anything else that's too different form the later releases of ra2 yet. i do however believe that the V1/pre-V1 exe has slightly different physics settings compared to later releases like v.1.2 and 1.3. (1.4 was a fan patch that didn't edit the exe in any capacity), but that's for another day

nobody really wrote this down in an easy to find place, and the wiki has incorrect information (like always) *SIMULATION_GEOMETRY 2 = Objects with no concavities and no separate collision mesh *SIMULATION_GEOMETRY 3 = Objects with no concavities, but with a separate collision mesh If you're using one of these two options, any concavities in your mesh will be automatically filled in with an invisible collision mesh (it doesn't show up with f12) Obviously, this probably isn't what you want, so: *SIMULATION_GEOMETRY 5 = Objects with concavities and no separate collision mesh *SIMULATION_GEOMETRY 6 = Objects with concavities and a separate collision mesh Concavities will not be filled in with if you're using these two simgeo settings here's an example object with very noticeable concavities left is with simgeo 2, right is with simgeo 5. notice how on the incorrect simulation geometry the inside part of the mesh is filled in, even though the mesh itself still fits with the visible U shape. These settings apply to both components and arenas do note that overly complicated collision meshes are still going be an issue regardless of simgeo used

y'all are filthy cheaters (unlike me, who DEFINITELY DID NOT put invisible razer damage zones on a bot that went on to win a tournament)

glad to see its almost 2021 and nothing has changed at all. every juicer still is using only typhoons/beaters on their builds and they get butthurt the moment something is better than them. ant blades? banned. mech discs? banned. minion discs? banned. dread discs? banned. literally having damaging weapons in the front of your rammer? banned. this game has been reduced to a ruleset that just favors lazily made VS and its saddening. nicky was right all along, this game truly is dying. i mean for ****s sake the creative is so lacking that some dude making the same big blue flipper every month is considered the "best" builder. i can't wait for this discord to finally go under lol, i'll see you all in RRC, thats where there true gamers live.

tldr: the slots for selecting robots get progressively more unstable and there's nothing we can do to fix them. it's not actually the amount of robots in the arena that's causing the issues like we thought
even larger and heavier items like wheels aren't stable in the last slot

we're back at it, but with some fairly substantial changes this time. First off, the ranking system has had it's overall point impact reduced: - Bots will then be placed into four different tiers based on their aesthetics
- Tier 1 will receive a three point bonus, tier 2 a two point bonus and tier 3 a one points bonus,.
Tier 1 1-4 Tier 2 5-8 Tier 3 9-12 Tier 4 12-16 - Each robot will fight two robots from each tier, and also the robot that was given the same point rank. Match wins are worth 1 point each, and will be added on to your previous ranking score.
- The final robot with the highest score will be the winner. Ties for the top spot will be decided via a fight As for the changes this time around: - Perms and Eteks have greatly increased max speed, and torque (300 top speed, 120 torque). twms, perm 80s, and piglets will also have buffed torque like the last tournament - Weapons have considerably lower HP and dp values, and will be re-balanced to fit the current teeth limits (since let's be real, everyone goes for the max allowed amount of weapons anyways, and there's no """""compromising"""" between weapons, armor, and drive in a post crash patch world The low HP is so that you can have a fairly low arena damage value that won't **** over parts like wheels and bots spawning in, but it can still have an impact on weapons that would normally need a higher value to deal any actual damage against. this is also serves as a nerf to counter balance the increased spin speeds - Arena damage should have more of an impact now on weapons, and a lesser impact on everything else EG: these probably aren't the exact values that will be used, but they're an example of how things would be changed 2 large teeth/15kgs+ , 300dp 2000hp - 600dp 4000hp 4 small teeth/7kgs - 14kgs, 1000hp - 600dp 4000hp 6 large beaters, 75dp, 1000hp - 450dp 6000hp
things like bars and rep discs will all have the same stats with a max allowed limit of 1.
axeheads will keep their current dp, but will have reduced hp
all are pure concussion btw RULES: Basic Tournament Stuff: DSL-IRL ruleset - Robots must look as close to real-life designs as possible/insides must NOT be clipping through each other nonsensically. (Batteries inside motors, flippers passing through insides etc) Heavyweight limit of 800kg. DSL 2.4 BFE/OBJ are legal if used for realism purposes Editited RW2016 arena: Weapon Limits: Spinners: - Spinners: 2 large teeth (15+kgs) ex: Large Typhoon, Ripping Teeth, Large Nightmare, etc OR 4 small teeth (7-14kgs) ex: Small Typhoons, Cutting Teeth, Heavy DS Teeth, etc OR 8 Small, 6 Med/Large Beaters. Everything else will be a case by case basis ---------------------- Axes/Hammers/Clamps: - Just don't be dumb and use 3 frenzy hammers or something ---------------------- Flippers: - Front/Rear hinges are allowed up to 1 Beta Burst/Motor or 2 VDMA R/P Bursts/VDMA Front Hinged/Storm Burst/Mag Snappers - Top Hinges are allowed 2 Mag Snapper maximum. Pneumatics are banned - ALL flipper types must have a flipping arc of 90 degrees _| <- like that. ------------------- cheatbot2: - Overkill motors are the ONLY other CB2 part allowed --------------------------- Other: - Spikes are the only damaging weapons allowed on the front of rammers, wammers are banned - Alu 10 MAX allowed for chassis armor (if you're wondering why, it's because stronger armors can break the the weakend weapons off before they're able to get a KO. I had to got through and edit all the other parts to not deal damage, I can't do the same for the chassis armor - Skirts only allowed on dustpans with proper support - Free hinges/axles are banned for wedges/wedgelets. These are allowed for details like Rat King’s tail/Purin’s headband however! - Ant Blades are banned for all bot types. - Flamethrowers are banned - No meltybrain AI. - Clusterbots are banned - Configbots are banned - Bar ends are the only weapons that you can put on the ends of bars. The largest width cannot have any weapons attached to them - Bots that are too unstable will be rejected - Anything I don't think is fitting will be rejected, and if something is found to be illegal with your robot post sign-ups your entry will be auto DQ'ed Battle Rules: RW2016 with a damaging floor/walls 3 minute matches. If a match goes the full 2 minutes, it will be judged by the ENFORCER or somebody else probably If a BFEd robot takes damage and ends up having floating parts, it will be KOed/if a bot is blatantly destroyed beyond any hope of winning Bots that spikeball/ cannot show controlled movement for more than 15 seconds will be dq'd. Oh ok then well basically I kind of see where sean is coming from tbh I know he’s been around here a lot longer but this community when we do actually set aside our differences we can be good people towards each other but maybe most of the time(including me) we all seem to get lost in our pride of our robots some more than others but it’s ok to take pride in work but don’t let that pride over crowd your judgement if someone doesn’t like your robot don’t go full on keyboard worrier on them because that’s where the arguments starts and the bad rep piles on take the criticism calmly and yes I know this is rich coming from me I’m aware I can be a piece of sh** some times but even when I still feel down on my luck I still turn to this community for fun to build to laugh and just dick around sometimes and that’s ok if everyone around you is ok with it as well and when those moments happen it shows that we’re not like a community filled up with dictators I mean look at the quiz we done we all had fun and a laugh (especially the Foxii and the KOB and the mic bit that was ****ing funny) but this shows that we can all get along even if we all don’t see eye to eye 24/7 and I know this sounds maybe stupid coming from me because of the sh** that I’ve done but still we’re ALL part of this community and we will all improve one day at a time with each other ok at least he means well

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Cwf08VhqbV5iXk9P_4NJfdNK_SjnpJi1tv1cKxEQRig/edit?usp=sharingi'm not 100% sure if my formula is exactly the same as the one 123 used, but you get the same results so it really shouldn't matter that much a few things i noticed: - the description for the largest razor has the wrong dp - rounding for hp is inconsistent between a few weapons - there's no dsl 2.2 style weight scaling of any kind. a 30kg sledge has nearly 5k less hp than 6 beaters of the same weight as for the formulas efficiency is 60000*mass hp is mass*200 dp is efficiency/HP, which gives you 300 this value is then edited on a dp/hp ratio to get your final statline
